Claudio Dario: Born in Conegliano Veneto in 1957, he graduated with honours in Medicine and
Surgery in 1983. He specialised in Cardiology and in Health and Preventive Medicine. From
1995
to 2002 he has been the medical Executive of the hospital of Treviso and the responsible for the
Legal Medicine Unit at the same hospital. He has a contract as professor of Communication
Technologies at the School of Specialisation in Health and Preventive Medicine of the Faculty
of
Medicine of the University of Padoa.
In 2002 he becomes Sanitary Director of the Healthcare Unit No. 16 of Padua. Soon after
becomes designated as the General Director of the Healthcare Unit No. 9 of Treviso in 2003.
Since April 2002, he has been designated as the person in charge of the Telemedicine projects
for
the Veneto Region and as the coordinator for the project “Telemedicine survey in Veneto
Region
and identification of guidelines for future development”. Dr Dario has been involved in for the
past
10 years in different IT projects from is theoretical presentation to its actual realization, always
aiming to improve the clinical sanitary services to the general public. In this regards he is the
founder and the President of the Italian Association for the Improvement of the Health-care
Quality
(AmiQA).
Active member in several scientific committees, for international advanced research IT
projects:
scientific responsible for the Project ESCAPE, accountable for the technical responsibility for
the
e-government TeleMed ESCAPE project and for the HEALTH OPTIMUM project and RENEWING
HEALTH project, approved by the European Commission.
Italian Representative of ESA teleMED Working Group, scientific committee for ESA
Programme:
Opportunities and Challenges of eHealth and Telemedicine via satellite, a programme which
has
been approved by Ministers of Member states.
On October 13, 2005 he was elected President of the Consortium Arsenàl.IT - Veneto Centre
Research and Innovation for Digital Health, representative of all the Veneto Healthcare
structures"
On 27 December 2007 he received the honor of “Commendatore dellʼordine al merito della
Repubblica Italiana” by the President of the Italian Republic
On May 2008 he won the Starring Prize for Innovation on Health. Premium delivered by the
Minister for Reforms and Public Administration.
