SUNDAY, MAY 3 , 2015: FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
Dear Friends in Christ,
Carissimi Parrocchiani di San Rocco
This week I have many whom I wish to thank.
First, thanks to everyone for a beautiful celebration
of the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday, April
24th. The experience of confirming our young people
brought delight to the Provost. Perhaps we will have
a chance for him to come again and celebrate with
us.
noi.
Thank you for all those who helped make the
Third Annual Headmaster’s Ball for All Saints a
success. It was a most enjoyable evening. If you are
interested in learning more about the school, please,
do not hesitate to contact me. Tours of the school
can happen during normal business hours, MondayFriday. Feel free to email me at [email protected].
Thank you also for all who made our first Sunday
celebrations of First Holy Communion a beautiful
and moving experience for our children and their
families. We will celebrate First Holy Communions
this weekend and conclude them next weekend,
Mother’s Day, at the Masses at 10:15 and 11:30.
The small groups of children permit us to personalize the experience. The parents present their children to the parish – as they did at their baptisms – at
the start of the celebration, we hold a children’s
homily, the first holy communicants bring up the
gifts and they make their first holy communions before the rest of the community. It is a cause of great
joy for the whole parish. I am grateful for everyone’s cooperation and willingness to try something
new.
I am pleased to announce that next Sunday, May
10th, after the Italian Mass, I will bless the new
statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, which you can already see outside, in front of Momma’s House. May
Our Lady intercede for all mothers and support them
in their noble vocation of bringing life into the
world.
God bless you,
Father Elias
personalizzare l'esperienza.
battesimo - all'inizio della celebrazione, teniamo omelia
per i bambini, i primi comunicandi portano i doni e
Dio Vi benedica,
Padre Elias

Sacred Relics Of The Saints: Treasures Of The Church
The Parish of St. Rocco presents a teaching and exposition of Sacred Relics on Tuesday May 12 at 7:30
pm. Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the
Cross will be here with his very special ministry to teach
about these holy objects. He will bring with him over
150 relics, some as old as 2000 years. Among the treasures will be relics of St. Rocco, St. Maria Goretti, St.
Therese of Lisieux (the “Little Flower"), St. Francis of
Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and
St. Faustina Kowalska. In addition, there will also be
present a portion of the veil of Our Lady, as well as one
of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the
world. Those in attendance will be able to examine and
venerate each relic. In the Church’s history many miracles and healings have been worked in the presence of
relics, and many have been healed through this ministry. Please do not miss this opportunity. You are encouraged to bring your articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family
members which you will be able to touch to the reliquaries as a means of intercession.
