BAPTISMS
The Sacrament of Baptism is administered on the Second and Fourth
Sunday of every month at 12:30 PM. Parents should contact the Parish Office to participate in the Parish baptismal seminar, which is held
the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM.
MARRIAGES
Marriages should be arranged at least six months in advance of the
wedding date. Please phone the Parish Office and make an appointment to speak with the Pastor; this should be done prior to making any
other arrangements. Pre-Cana Program required. If either party is
under 19 years of age at the time of Marriage, special preparations will
be required.

JULY 29 2012: SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dear Friends in Christ,
Feast of Saint Rocco - The Feast is upon us! Thank you in
advance for your participation and support for this great parish
event! May God bless our parish through the feast: faith, family
and fun. Please keep praying for good weather:
“Almighty ever-living God, who heal us through correction
and save us by your forgiveness, grant to those who seek your
favor that we may rejoice at the good weather for which we
hope and always use what in your goodness you bestow for the
glory of your name and for our well-being. Amen.”
In order to give glory to His Name, we have planned this
year a program of prayers, devotions and liturgies throughout
the feast. You will find a copy of the schedule as an insert in the
bulletin. In addition to the Mass for the Feast Workers on Monday, July 30 at 7 pm, we will open the Feast with a Mass on
Tuesday, July 31 at 6:30 pm. Then we will have a variety of
prayers devotions each evening in Italian at 7:30 pm. In addition, the Canons will pray various offices of the Liturgy of the
Hours each evening. Please consult the schedule for the possibilities.
In order to commemorate the 75th anniversary of our parish, I
have obtained an antique monstrance. It will be used for the
first time during the Feast on Wednesday at Evening Prayer. On
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we will pray Vespers at 6:30
pm in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. The Service will
end with the singing of the Tantum Ergo and Benediction of the
Blessed Sacrament. A booklet will be available with the prayers
and songs.
This magnificent monstrance dates from the Nineteenth Century. In a gothic style, the monstrance holds the Blessed Sacrament in a glass cylinder surrounded by saints (including as far
as we are concerned, Saint Rocco!) and surmounted by the Sacred Heart. This exquisite piece joins the growing patrimony of
sacred art that belongs to our church. Should anyone or a group
wish to donate this singular work, please contact me.
August Schedule - In order to lighten the load a little, given
our current situation, the Mass on Saturday at 9:00 am for the
month of August is suspended. Also, you will find a schedule of
the Masses for the Assumption at St. Hyacinth, St. Patrick and
St. Rocco in the bulletin. We will have three Masses at St.
Rocco – a vigil Mass on August 14th at 7:30 pm in English &
two morning Masses on August 15th at 7:30 am (English) and
8:45 am (Italian). Thank you for your understanding in these
matters.
Vacation: Following the feast I shall be away for about two
weeks from August 6 to August 18 to visit my family in Virginia. Father Daniel and Dom Gabriel will be looking after the
parish in my stead. Father Larry will be offering two Masses on
Sunday, August 12th and on the Assumption on August 15th.
Other priests will also help us during these days.

Festa di San Rocco - La Festa è vicina! Vi ringrazio in
anticipo per la vostra partecipazione e il vostro sostegno per
questo grande evento parrocchiale! Possa Dio benedire la
nostra parrocchia con la festa: la fede, la famiglia e
divertimento. Si prega di continuare a pregare per il bel tempo:
O Dio onnipotente ed eterno, che ci risani con il castigo e
con il perdono ci conservi, dai ascolto a noi che ti supplichiamo, affinché possiamo rallegrarci del tempo sereno che
desideriamo, e usare sempre i doni della tua bontà a gloria del
tuo nome e per la nostra salvezza. Amen.
Per dare gloria al suo nome, abbiamo pianificato
quest'anno un programma di preghiere, devozioni e liturgie per
tutta la festa. Troverete una copia del programma come inserto
nel bollettino. Oltre alla Messa per coloro che lavorano
durante la Festa il Lunedi, 30 Luglio alle 19:00, si aprirà la
festa con una Messa Martedì, Luglio 31 alle 18:30. Allora
avremo una serie di devozioni preghiere ogni sera in lingua
Italiana alle 19:30. Inoltre, i Canonici pregheremo vari uffici
della Liturgia delle Ore, ogni sera. Si prega di consultare il
programma per le possibilità.
Per commemorare il 75° anniversario della nostra
parrocchia, ho ottenuto un antico ostensorio. Sarà utilizzato
per la prima volta durante la festa il Mercoledì alle Preghiera
della Sera. Mercoledì, Giovedì e Venerdì pregheremo Vespri
alle 18:30 nella presenza del Santissimo Sacramento. Il
servizio finirà con il canto del Tantum Ergo e Benedizione del
Santissimo Sacramento. Un libretto sarà disponibile con le
preghiere e canti.
Questo magnifico ostensorio risale al XIX secolo. In uno
stile gotico, l'ostensorio detiene il Santissimo Sacramento in
un cilindro di vetro circondato da santi (compreso per quanto
ci riguarda, San Rocco!) e sormontato dal Sacro Cuore. Questo
pezzo squisito unisce il patrimonio crescente di arte sacra che
appartiene alla nostra chiesa. Se qualcuno o un gruppo vuole
donare quest'opera singolare, Vi prego di contattare me.
Il Programma d’Agosto - Per alleggerire il carico un pò –
data la nostra situazione attuale – la Messa di Sabato alle ore
9.00 per il mese di Agosto è sospesa. Inoltre, troverete un
programma delle Messe per l'Assunzione a San Giacinto
(Hyacinth), San Patrizio e San Rocco nel bollettino. Avremo
tre Messe a San Rocco - una Messa della Vigilia il 14 Agosto
alle 19:30 in Inglese e due Messe mattutine del 15 Agosto alle
7:30 (Inglese) e 8:45 (Italiano). Vi ringrazio per la vostra
comprensione in queste cose.
Vacanze: Dopo la festa sarò in vacanza dal 6 Agosto fino
all’18 Agosto a visitare la mia famiglia in Virginia. Padre
Daniel e Dom Gabriel si prenderanno cura della parrocchia in
mia vece. Padre Larry offrirà due Messe di Domenica, 12
Agosto ed anche le due Messe dell’ Assunzione, il 15 Agosto.
Altri sacerdoti aiuteranno anche in questi giorni.

GOLDEN WEDDING JUBILEE
“This fall, couples that have been married fifty years or
more will be honored at liturgies on
Sunday, September 23, at the Church of Saint Rose of
Lima in Massapequa and on Sunday, October 21 at the
Church of Christ the King in Commack. Both liturgies
will begin at 2:30pm. Couples may register for ONE
liturgy. Registration forms and complete instructions
can be obtained at the rectory. Registration must be
received by the Office of Worship by September 6th
for the September 23rd liturgy and by October 4th for
the October 21st liturgy. There will be additional celebrations in the spring for those who may find that more
