PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY
October 25, 2015
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2015: THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Dear Friends in Christ,
This Sunday, October 25th, at the Mass at 10:15 am we will
recognize the children who are preparing for their first confession and first Holy Communion. At this Liturgy, the parents
and children will line the main aisle of the church so as to participate in the presentation of the gifts. After the children’s
homily, the parents and children will be invited to take their
place along the main aisle, profess the faith, pray the intercessions and then hand over the gifts, down the main aisle, to the
sanctuary. After the Ushers will take up the collection. Since
this will be the first time we try this, I thank you for your patience in advance!
Next Sunday, November 1st (and of course Saturday night) is
the Solemnity of All Saints. We have invited the confirmandi –
candidates for the sacrament of Confirmation – to present themselves to the parish at the 10:15 am Mass. Father Ambros will
celebrate this Mass.
On Monday, November 2nd, the Memorial of All Souls, we
will celebrate a special Mass for the faithful departed at 7:30
pm. The Mass will be celebrated in the Ordinary Form with
Gregorian Chant – Father Ambros and I will cantor – and
hymns. We will pray for all the members of the parish who
died in the last year, by name, as we had done in years past.
During the month of November we will offer many Masses
for the faithful departed. Please submit the names of your beloved dead on the envelopes that you find in the church and
drop them in the collection or at the office.
On Sunday, November 15th (and Saturday evening), we have
the opportunity for the first time to celebrate together and in a
worthy manner the Solemnity of Saint Leopold of Austria, the
founder of Klosterneuburg. At all the Masses on that weekend,
there will be a chance to venerate the first class relic of the
saint, which the Abbot-Primate, Bernard Backovsky gave to us
a couple years ago. Saint Leopold fulfilled his Christian vocation as husband, father and statesman. As we look forward to
our presidential elections next year, we should invoke the intercession of the holy men and women who served God and man
in government. We will have a chance to learn more about him
that weekend.
On Friday, November 20th, we resume the St. Padre Pio Holy
Hour and Mass after a hiatus. We start with the exposition of
the Blessed Sacrament at 7:00 pm, enjoy a half an hour of silent
prayer, then pray Night Prayer (Compline), the Holy Rosary
and other vocal prayers, concluding with Benediction of the
Blessed Sacrament around 8 pm. The celebration of Mass follows.
And finally, on Saturday, November 28th, at the 4 pm Mass
we start the season of Advent with the blessing of the advent
wreath. If you are interested in buying a fresh cut Christmas
tree, please consider ordering one through All Saints: information at www.asrcatholic.org (tab: Wednesday’s Mail) and in the
bulletin. Orders are due no later than NOVEMBER 30th! Please
order a tree or two. Thank you.
God bless you,
Father Elias
Cari amici in Cristo,
Dopo l'omelia
Abbiamo invitato i
Come
Grazie.
Dio Vi benedica,
Padre Elias

Bulletin Reflection
Today’s Psalm says, “The Lord has done great
things for us; we are filled with joy.” Good stewards
demonstrate by their living and giving that they
understand God as the Source of all they are and
have.
Living Stewardship
We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish whose outlook is challenged and changed as
a result of embracing Stewardship as the heart of
Christian discipleship, leading to a new way of life!

An Organist’s Pilgrimage – not just for Organists!
On Sunday, November 15th, the Suffolk Chapter of the
American Guild of Organists will travel west to visit the
City of Glen Cove and three of her historic Churches
with Pipe Organs. We will begin at 3:00 p.m. at St.
Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 28 Highland Road.
We will then move to First Presbyterian Church, located at the intersection of School Street and North
Lane; and ending here at St. Rocco’s, where refreshments will be served after the program. We will discover some of the unique and varied history of each of
the three churches and several members will be playing organ music on each of the three historic pipe organs. We would like to thank Reverend Shawn Williams the Priest-in-Charge of St. Paul’s, Reverend
Betsy Simpson, the Pastor at First Presbyterian
Church and Fr. Elias, for welcoming our chapter of the
American Guild of Organists to the City Glen Cove!
We hope you can come out and join us to what will be
a very exciting event!
