From the Pastor’s Desk
Last week I asked for a meeting with the Archdiocese
Building and Accounting offices.
I brought up my concerns with the dilapidated conditions
of the rectory and infrastructure of the church which have
included the removal of Asbestos, installation of new gas
lines so as to get heat in the rectory. These are just a
couple of examples of a list of repairs that are required
that is unending.
The archdiocese has accordingly instructed me to employ
an assessment firm, so as to have documented detailed
report of repairs required to our Church and Rectory. This
report will be then presented to the Archdiocese and then
we can commence restoration of our beloved parish.
The estimated cost of this report to our parish is $25,000.
The last time an assessment of this kind was made was in
2007 and it was just for the exterior of the church.
Given the expense of these major repairs, I requested the
Archdiocese to reduce our annual assessment fee currently
set at 15% to 5% from 2015 to 2018.
Since we paid our assessment in December 2014 in the
amount of $21,000, the Archdiocese has agreed to match
this contribution. The result is a total reduction of $42,000
of our outstanding $180,000 amount. For this I am truly
grateful.
I was also reassured at the meeting, that our outstanding
loan to the Archdiocese in the amount of $150,000 and the
above amount of past due assessment in the amount of
$180,000 will be interest free until after we have finished
our Campaign of Faith.
We start our Campaign of Faith later this year and I am
hoping we can raise enough money to make the necessary
repairs to St. Clare and satisfy our commitment to the
Archdiocese.
I cannot forget to ask you to please contribute to our
maintenance fund which will continue to help in the upkeep
of our St. Clare.

Blessing of Throats
On Tuesday, February 3rd, the Feast of St. Blaise, there will be the
blessing of throats at the 9:00 a.m. Mass.
55+ Group
The 55+ group will be getting together in the Parish Hall on
Thursday, February 5th at 9:30 a.m. for some refreshments and a
game of Bingo. All the young at heart are invited!
There is
a meeting of the Knights of
Columbus on Thursday, February 5th at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
Good Knight Talk
The 800km trek across northern Spain – known as El
Camino de Santiago or the Way of St. James - is a physical
and spiritual journey that pilgrims of all faiths and
backgrounds have walked for over a thousand years.
Simply put, it is a journey of a lifetime. "The Camino de
Santiago: A Journey Along and Within" – talk and slide
presentation by Paolo Fietta, Knight of Columbus member,
on Thursday February 5, 2015 at 8:30 pm in the church
hall. Free admission to all parishioners.
Memorial Mass for Mr. Alberto De Ciccio
Anyone wishing to attend a Memorial Mass for
Alberto De Ciccio, (father of Rev. Ernesto De
Ciccio), may do so at St. David’s Church, on
2601 Major Mackenzie Dr., in Maple, on
Thursday, February 5th at 7:30 p.m. For more information,

Holy Hour & Healing Mass
Please join us on First Friday, February 6th, for Holy Hour at
8:00 a.m. with Healing Mass to follow at 9:00 am. This is
an opportunity for you to receive the healing oil that
refreshes us and brings us closer to Jesus. The oil of the
sick is administered to all the faithful as a sign of our
communion with The Lord and His constant care for us.
New Beginnings
Do you know someone who has experienced the death of a loved
one, a separation or divorce? If you or someone you know is
searching for hope and spiritual encouragement after such
a loss, join us for an informal gathering in the parish meeting
room on Monday, February 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Missione Quaresimale
Padre Gabriele Cingolani sarà qui a St. Clare, a presentarci una
missione quaresimale, la tema essendo “LA GIOIA DI ESSERE
CRISTIANI”. Questa missione inizierá domenica, 15 marzo
durante the Messa delle 10:30 a.m., continuando in chiesa alle 7
di sera dal 16 (lunedì) al 18 (mercoledì) marzo.

a ripetere quello che ha sentito. È per liberarci dalle idee
preconcette e dalle risposte prefabricate che egli viene, oggi, a
parlarci con autorità.

Dal Parroco:
La settimana scorsa, dopo aver fatto la richiesta per un incontro
all’ufficio della contabilità del Arcidiocesi, ho portato loro le mie
preoccupazioni delle condizioni malandanti della canonica e della
infrastrutture della chiesa. Abbiamo parlato della rimozione
dell’amianto e dell'installazione di nuove linee di gas per ottenere
un miglior riscaldamento in canonica e questi sono solo un paio di
esempi di una lunga lista di riparazioni necessarie.
L'arcidiocesi mi ha quindi incaricato di assumere una compagnia
di esperti per valutare e documentare un rapporto dettagliato,
delle riparazioni necessarie per la Chiesa e la canonica. Questo
rapporto sarà poi presentato all’Arcidiocesi, dopo di che possiamo
iniziare il restauro della nostra cara parrocchia. Il costo stimato
solo per il rapporto sarà di $25,000.
L'ultima volta che una valutazione di questo tipo è stato fatto era
nel 2007 e solo per l'esterno della chiesa.
Dato il costo di queste grande riparazioni, ho chiesto
all'Arcidiocesi di ridurre la nostra fissa quota di valutazione
annuale dal 15%, al 5% per i prossimi tre anni.
Dato che abbiamo pagato la valutazione di $21,000 lo scorso
dicembre, l'Arcidiocesi ha accettato di corrispondere a questo
contributo, riducendo cosí un totale di $42,000 dalla somma
rimanente di $180,000. Per questo sono veramente grato.
Nel corso della riunione, sono stato anche riassicurato che
l’attuale prestito dall’Arcidiocesi di $150,000, e il rimanente della
dovuta valutazione accumulata per un importo di $180,000,
saranno privi di interesse, fino alla fine della nostra Campagna di
Fede.
Inizieremo la nostra campagna di Fede alla fine di quest'anno e
spero che faremo del nostro meglio per potere affrontare queste
spese per le riparazioni e anche per soddisfare il nostro impegno
per l'Arcidiocesi .
Per questi motivi, chiedo gentilmente di non dimencare la nostra
colletta per la manutenzione della chiesa, perché continuerà a
sostenerci.
