A NOTE FROM FR. WAYNE
On the cover of this week’s bulletin, you will notice a beautiful image of Our Lady of Mount
Carmel. Although the Church of
Our Lady of Mount Carmel has
closed; and, this week we learned
that the Cardinal has relegated it
for profane use (meaning it no
longer functions as a Church), we still recall all
those blessed events that took place at that
Church over the years. I sincerely hope that our
parish family will continue to grow under the
watchful eye of Our Lady. We have been blessed
to embrace Mary as Our Lady of Mount Carmel
and Star of the Sea. May She continue to be with
us and strengthen us to serve Her Son, Jesus
Christ, whose Sacred Heart has touched our own
hearts. Also, let us remember those cherished
memories that have occurred at Saint John the
Baptist Church. St. John was the one who heralded the coming of Jesus Christ. Through the
intercession of these patrons, may we seek Christ
and may our family continued to be blessed by
their guidance and protection.
Congratulations to Jim and Rose Aloisi who
celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary
in June. The couple was wed here at Sacred Heart
Church on June 19, 1949 by Fr. Alfred C. Sheehan.
Standing at the Altar with Jim was his best man, Mario
Aloisi and standing with Rose as her maid of honor
was Mary Aloisi. May God Bless them with many
more years of love and faithfulness.

we get so lost in the sun and fun,
we forget that we still need to
make time to pray! Don’t get so
lost in the ―lazy, hazy, crazy days
of summer‖ that you forget to
pray!
A simple Summer Prayer
Father, Creator of all, thank You for summer!
Thank you for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight. Thank You for the beauty I see
all around me and for the opportunity to be outside
and enjoy Your creation. Thank You for the increased time I have to be with my friends and family,
and for the more casual pace of the summer season.
I wish to take this opportunity to
thank all of the members of the Sacred Heart Festival Committee for a
wonderful festival. For just about a
year, they all have been hard at work
on this year’s festival. I truly appreciate their dedication and resolve to put together this
5th Year Anniversary Festival. Many thanks and
heartfelt feelings of gratitude to all. Also, thank you
to those who supported this year’s festival and our
neighbors who may have been inconvenienced by the
street closings.
Draw me closer to You this summer. Teach me how
I can pray no matter where I am or what I am doing.
Warm my soul with the awareness of Your presence
and light my path with Your Word and Counsel.
As I enjoy Your creation, create in me a pure heart
and a hunger and a thirst for You.

LA PAZIENZA
Una tendenza spontanea degli uomini è quella di ripartire l’umanità in due grandi categorie: i buoni da
una parte, i cattivi dall’altra. Questa tendenza è presente anche sul piano religioso. Si invocano benedizioni su di sé, sulla propria famiglia, sulla propria nazione; le maledizioni colpiscano gli altri, i nemici, quelli
che si oppongono.
Lodate Dio, Padre che dona ogni bene,
Lodate Dio, ricco di grazia e perdono;
Cantate a lui, che tanto gli uomini amò,
Da dare l’unico Figlio.

SANTA MARIA MADDALENA
Gloria a Dio nell'alto dei cieli e pace in terra agli
uomini di buona volontà. Noi ti lodiamo, ti
benediciamo, ti adoriamo, ti glorifichiamo, ti
rendiamo grazie per la tua gloria immensa, Signore
Dio, Re del cielo, Dio Padre onnipotente Signore,
Figlio unigenito, Gesù Cristo, Signore Dio, Agnello di
Dio, Figlio del Padre; tu che togli i peccati del
mondo, abbi pietà di noi; tu che togli i peccati del
mondo, accogli la nostra supplica; tu che siedi alla
destra del Padre, abbi pietà di noi. Perché tu solo il
Santo, tu solo il Signore, tu solo l'Altissimo Gesù
Cristo, con lo Spirito Santo nella gloria di Dio Padre.

Maria, oriunda di Magdala, in Galilea, si pose al
servizio di Gesù dopo essere stata da lui guarita (Lc
82). Partecipò alla sepoltura del corpo del Signore
e fu la prima a riconoscere il Risorto (Gv 20,11-18).
Non vi sono che indizi assai tenui per identificarla
con la peccatrice perdonata da Gesù in casa del
fariseo (Lc 7,36-50) o con Maria sorella di Lazzaro
e di Marta. La Chiesa orientale le ha sempre considerate e venerate distinte. La nuova liturgia delle
ore ed eucaristica è tutta orientata a mostrare Maria
di Magdala quale prima fortunata testimone della
risurrezione di Cristo ai fratelli, inviata a loro da
Cristo stesso (Gv 20,1-2.11-18).
PRIMA LETTURA
Dal libro della Sapienza
Non c’è Dio fuori di te, che abbia cura di tutte le
cose,
perché tu debba difenderti dall’accusa di giudice
ingiusto.
La tua forza infatti è il principio della giustizia,
e il fatto che sei padrone di tutti, ti rende indulgente
con tutti.
Mostri la tua forza
quando non si crede nella pienezza del tuo potere,
e rigetti l’insolenza di coloro che pur la conoscono.
Padrone della forza, tu giudichi con mitezza
e ci governi con molta indulgenza,
perché, quando vuoi, tu eserciti il potere.
Con tale modo di agire hai insegnato al tuo popolo
che il giusto deve amare gli uomini,
e hai dato ai tuoi figli la buona speranza
che, dopo i peccati, tu concedi il pentimento.

SANTA BRIGIDA DI SVEZIA
Religiosa, compatrona d'Europa
(1303-1373)
Principessa svedese, fu sposa e madre esemplare di
otto figli che educò ottimamente: la seconda figlia,
Karin, è la notissima santa Caterina di Svezia. Brigida, terziaria francescana, consacrò la sua vedovanza alla Chiesa. Visitò in pellegrinaggio i principali luoghi sacri del tempo; fondò a Vadstena un
ordine religioso e godette di rivelazioni soprannaturali raccolte in abbondanti scritti a edificazione dei
fedeli. A Roma, dove visse 24 anni fino alla morte.
lavorò per la riforma dei costumi e preparò il ritorno del papa da Avignone. Dal 1999 è compatrona d’Europa insieme con Caterina da Siena e
Teresa Benedetta della Croce.

SECONDA LETTURA
E di nuovo verrà, nella gloria, per giudicare i vivi e i
morti, e il suo regno non avrà fine.
Dalla lettera di san Paolo apostolo ai Romani
Fratelli, lo Spirito viene in aiuto alla nostra debolezza;
non sappiamo infatti come pregare in modo
conveniente, ma lo Spirito stesso intercede con gemiti
inesprimibili; e colui che scruta i cuori sa che cosa
desidera lo Spirito, perché egli intercede per i santi
secondo i disegni di Dio.
Parola di Dio
Credo nello Spirito Santo, che é Signore e dà la vita,
e procede dal Padre e dal Figlio e con il Padre e il
Figlio é adorato e glorificato e ha parlato per mezzo
dei profeti. Credo la Chiesa, una, santa, cattolica e
apostolica. Professo un solo battesimo per il perdono
dei peccati. Aspetto la risurrezione dei morti e la vita
del mondo che verrà. Amen.

mentre tutti dormivano, venne il suo nemico, seminò
della zizzania in mezzo al grano e se ne andò.
Quando poi lo stelo crebbe e fece frutto, spuntò
anche la zizzania. Allora i servi andarono dal padrone
di casa e gli dissero: ―Signore, non hai seminato del
buon seme nel tuo campo? Da dove viene la zizzania?‖. Ed egli rispose loro: ―Un nemico ha fatto
questo!‖. E i servi gli dissero: ―Vuoi che andiamo a
raccoglierla?‖. ―No, rispose, perché non succeda che,
raccogliendo la zizzania, con essa sradichiate anche il
grano. Lasciate che l’una e l’altro crescano insieme
fino alla mietitura e al momento della mietitura dirò ai
mietitori: Raccogliete prima la zizzania e legatela in
fasci per bruciarla; il grano invece ri! ponètelo nel mio
granaio‖».

per mezzo di lui tutte le cose sono state create. Per
noi uomini e per la nostra salvezza discese dal cielo;
e per opera dello Spirito Santo si é incarnato nel
seno della Vergine Maria e si é fatto uomo. Fu
crocifisso per noi sotto Ponzio Pilato, morì e fu
sepolto. Il terzo giorno é risuscitato, secondo le
Scritture; é salito al cielo, siede alla destra del Padre.
