Italy Pilgrimage for 2012
An informational meeting regarding plans for a Pilgrimage to Southern Italy will take place Wednesday, September 7th at 6:00 p.m. at the Rectory.

Plans are underway for a Fall Bible

FROM THE DEACON’S DESK
I wrote in last week’s column, that during September,
the Church asks us to reflect upon the Sorrows of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. As a Parish Family, we will
come together Thursday, September 8th at 7:00PM,
to pray The Rosary of the Seven Sorrows. Our
Blessed Mother promises Seven Graces to those faithful to this devotion:
A NOTE FROM FR. WAYNE
This week’s cover for the bulletin displays once
again a beautiful stained glass window from our
Church. In this window, we see Jesus in the
woodshop of Saint Joseph. Undoubtedly, Jesus is
keeping a watchful eye on Saint Joseph and at the
same time learning the trade of carpentry. Saint
Joseph is the patron saint of workers; therefore,
this Labor Day weekend, let us turn to Saint
Joseph and pray for those among us who are
searching for meaningful work. These are difficult times and together we should remember
those within our family who have been unemployed. Let us earnestly pray that they and all
people find work that is fulfilling and gives dignity.

Last weekend, we all felt the ill effects of Hurricane Irene. Although we did not get hit significantly by the projected storm, our parish suffered
a great loss. The numbers for Sunday Mass were
drastically down. The 8:30 Mass had 26 people;
the 10:00 Mass had 21 people; the 11:30 Mass
had 7 people; and the 1:00 Mass had around 30
people. I understand that people were genuinely
frightened by what were we told. However, the
collection for the parish was way off thanks to the
meteorologists! I ask you all to do what you can
this weekend to help us make up for last weekend’s shortfall. Also, if at all possible, I ask each
of you to re-examine your weekly gift to the parish. You will notice that each weekend we are
running over a $1,000.00 deficit. This is making
it difficult to maintain the programs and services
offered by the parish on a weekly basis.
1. I will grant peace to your families.
2. You will be enlightened about the divine
mysteries.
3. I will console you in your pains and I will accompany you in your work.
4. I will give you as much as you ask for as long as it
does not oppose the adorable will of my divine
Son or the sanctification of your soul.
5. I will defend you in your spiritual battles with the
infernal enemy and I will protect you at every instant of your life.
6. I will visibly help you at the moment of your
death, you will see the face of your Mother.
7. I have obtained (this Grace) from my divine Son,
that you who propagate this devotion to my tears
and sorrows, will be taken directly from this
earthly life to eternal happiness since all your sins
will be forgiven and my Son and I will be your
eternal consolation and joy.
The Rosary of the Seven Sorrows dates back to the
Middle Ages. It has gained popularity since the
Marian apparition at Klbebo, Rwanda. Our Blessed
Mother asked the young visionary, Marie-Claire Mukango to reintroduce this special Rosary to the world.
School Supplies
Once again we are collecting supplies for our parish
school, East Boston Central Catholic. The supplies
will be distributed to students and teachers for the
upcoming school year. All items can be left at the
Church in the bins marked “School Supplies”.

Beginning, Friday, September 9th, Sacred Heart Parish
Youth Group will begin meeting at 6:00 p.m. The
Youth Group is for children and teens from the 3rd
grade on to High School. We will meet to plan some
of the fall activities. See you then. The Youth Group

SECONDO DELLE LETTURE DI OGGI
Gloria a Dio nell'alto dei cieli e pace in terra agli
uomini di buona volontà. Noi ti lodiamo, ti
benediciamo, ti adoriamo, ti glorifichiamo, ti
rendiamo grazie per la tua gloria immensa, Signore
Dio, Re del cielo, Dio Padre onnipotente Signore,
Figlio unigenito, Gesù Cristo, Signore Dio, Agnello di
Dio, Figlio del Padre; tu che togli i peccati del
mondo, abbi pietà di noi; tu che togli i peccati del
mondo, accogli la nostra supplica; tu che siedi alla
destra del Padre, abbi pietà di noi. Perché tu solo il
Santo, tu solo il Signore, tu solo l'Altissimo Gesù
Cristo, con lo Spirito Santo nella gloria di Dio Padre.

LA CORREZIONE FRATERNA
Il brano del vangelo di oggi segue immediatamente il
racconto della parabola della pecorella smarrita della
quale diventa, quindi, un’applicazione concreta. Se
un fratello ha commesso una colpa si deve applicare,
in primo luogo, la correzione personale; se non ascolta, bisogna chiamare in aiuto qualche testimone; in
terza istanza, conviene riferire alla comunità; e se non
ascolta neppure questa, si deve, solo allora, considerarlo come un pagano o pubblicano, cioè come uno
che s’è «messo fuori comunità».

NATIVITÀ DELLA BEATA VERGINE MARIA
«Come quasi tutte le solennità principali di Maria
anche la Natività è di origine orientale. Nella Chiesa
latina ve l’avrebbe introdotta il papa orientale san Sergio I alla fine del sec. VII. Originariamente doveva
essere la festa della dedicazione dell’attuale basilica di
sant’Anna in Gerusalemme. La Tradizione infatti
indicava quel luogo come la sede dell’umile dimora
di Gioacchino ed Anna, lontani discendenti di
Davide, genitori di Maria santissima. Occorre cercare
in questo culto della Natività di Maria una profonda
verità: la venuta dell’uomo-Dio sulla terra fu lungamente preparata dal Padre nel corso dei secoli. La
personalità divina del Salvatore supera infinitamente
tutto ciò che l’umanità poteva generare, però la storia
dell’umanità fu come un lento e difficile parto delle
condizioni necessarie all’Incarnazione del figlio di
Dio. La devozione cristiana ha voluto perciò
venerare le persone e gli avvenimenti che hanno
preparato la nascita di Cristo sul piano umano e sul
piano della grazia: la sua Madre, la nascita di essa, la
sua concezione, i suoi genitori e i suoi antenati.
Credere nei preparativi dell’incarnazione significa
credere nella realtà dell’incarnazione e riconoscere la
necessità della collaborazione dell’uomo
all’attuazione della salvezza del mondo. La vera
devozione a Maria conduce sempre a Gesù: ogni
celebrazione mariana culmina nella Messa.

la casa d’Israele. Quando sentirai dalla mia bocca una

non parli perché il malvagio desista dalla sua condotta, egli, il malvagio, morirà per la sua iniquità, ma

si converta ed egli non si converte dalla sua condotta,
