The Assumption
of Our Lady into Heaven
August 15th
Prayer for the Assumption of Mary
Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from
you. In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be
with him in heaven. May we follow her
example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love
and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

August Devotion
A note from Fr. Wayne . . .
On behalf of my entire family, I wish to express our
profound gratitude to each of you for the many,
expressions of sympathy and prayerful condolences
for my mother. She had struggled for many years
with a combination of Alzheimer's, dementia, and
delirium. Although it is always sad to see one you
love so dearly suffer and succumb to such a horrible
illness, our faith provides us with the great consolation that she is finally at peace. I have been blessed
with an extraordinary family which is a testimony to
both my mom and dad. I have, also, been blessed to
have each of you as my parish family. I am grateful
that God has placed me here and has made us a
family. Please be assured of my love and appreciation for each of you. To those who helped in so
many ways with the Wake, Funeral Mass, and
collation, words are inadequate to express my family’s thanks. Please know all of you will be in our
hearts and prayers.
The month of August is dedicated to the Blessed
Sacrament, and increased adoration of the Eucharist
is encouraged. August is also dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
We come together, each Saturday morning, immediately after the 8:00 a.m. Community Mass, for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.
That hour of prayer is our opportunity to be together
with Christ and engage in conversation with our loving and merciful Lord.
My Lord Jesus Christ, for the love which You bear to
men, You remain night and day in this Sacrament
full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling, and
welcoming all who come to visit You. I believe that
You are present in the Sacrament of the Altar: I
adore You from the abyss of my nothingness, and I
thank You for all the graces which You have bestowed upon me and in particular for having given
me Yourself in this Sacrament, for having given me
your holy Mother Mary for my advocate, and for having called me to visit You in this Church. I now salute
Your most loving Heart and this for three ends:
1. In thanksgiving for this great gift;
2. To make amends to You for all the outrages which
You receive in this Sacrament from all Your enemies;
3. I intend by this visit to adore You in all the places
on earth in which You are the least revered and the
most abandoned. Sweet Sacrament we Thee adore,
O make us love Thee more and more.
Eternal Rest grant unto her O’Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon her. Amen
May she rest in peace. Amen
2016 Mass Book
The new 2016 Mass Book will be
available on Tuesday, September 8th
after 10:00 a.m.
In fairness to all our parishioners, we
must ask that for Weekend Mass
Intentions; families will be limited to
reserve only three Masses. In the
past, many people were unable to
have a Mass for their loved ones due
to the number of people taking many
Mass Intentions.
There will be no limit on the
Weekday Mass Intentions as long as
people don’t take advantage of the
amount of Masses reserved.

The new missalettes will come four
times a year and will ensure that our
Church looks tidy and looked after.
We would like to offer you the opportunity to donate these missalettes in
memory of your loved ones. The missalettes come in a quarterly cycle. We
will publish each week the names of the families who
donated the missalettes for the current quarter. We
will only take up to and not exceeding seven names.
Each person/family name is a $100.00 donation.
Please call the rectory if you would like to donate.
Thank You.

XIX SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
AUGUST 9, 2015
XIX TEMPO ORDINARIO
Summer is just about here! It is important to examine our “dress code” for Holy Mass.
There is a time and place for just about everything. How we dress for Church fits into this category.
How we dress should be guided by the spirit of respect and modesty we have for ourselves, Church, and the
people around us. The Parish Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a House of Worship and Prayer; it is
the House of God where we gather as God's people. It is "The Temple of God" where we celebrate the
Sacred Mysteries of our Faith.
Does it matter what we wear when we enter Church to participate in Religious services? The answer is yes!
Absolutely!! Despite changing cultures, some things do not and should not change. RESPECT is the key
word. We can be casual and comfortable and still be respectful and modest in our attire.
In recent years, we have become lax and careless in this area. The Church of God is not a beach, a backyard, a mall, a sporting event, or a park. Styles change, but RESPECT for God's House, for yourself, and
for others, does not. We have forgotten that how we look and dress for different occasions makes a statement about who we are and what values guide our personal lives.
Parents need to teach their sons and daughters what is modest, appropriate, and respectful for church, as
well as, many social events. But parents must first look at the example they give by the way they dress.
Church is no place for tee-shirts with inappropriate or vulgar words and expressions, cut offs, (male or female); halter tops; tank tops, crop tops. At times it is embarrassing to see how some enter the House of
God.
Does it matter? YES!!!! It is about RESPECT for God, for self and for others!!
Just something to think about in the weeks ahead.
What we believe . . .
The Understanding of Moral Acts
Another important foundation of Christian morality is the understanding of moral acts. Every moral act consists
of three elements: the objective act (what we do), the subjective goal or intention (why we do the act), and the
concrete situation or circumstances in which we perform the act (where, when, how, with whom, the consequences, etc.). For an individual act to be morally good, the object, or what we are doing, must be objectively
good. Some acts, apart from the intention or reason for doing them, are always wrong because they go against a
fundamental or basic human good that ought never to be compromised. Direct killing of the innocent, torture,
and rape are examples of acts that are always wrong. Such acts are referred to as intrinsically evil acts, meaning
that they are wrong in themselves, apart from the reason they are done or the circumstances surrounding them.
The goal, end, or intention is the part of the moral act that lies within the person. For this reason, we say that the
intention is the subjective element of the moral act. For an act to be morally good, one's intention must be good.
If we are motivated to do something by a bad intention—even something that is objectively good—our action is
morally evil. It must also be recognized that a good intention cannot make a bad action (something intrinsically
evil) good. We can never do something wrong or evil in order to bring about a good. This is the meaning of the
saying, "the end does not justify the means" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, nos. 1749-1761).

SALMO RESPONSORIALE
L’INGRESSO
Rit. Al tuo santo altar
Mi appresso, O Signor,
Mia gioia e mio amor.
Gustate e vedete com'è buono il Signore;
Tu sei forza, sei vita immortal
Perche’ triste cammino tra il mal? Rit.
GLORIA
Gloria a Dio nell'alto dei cieli e pace in terra agli
uomini di buona volontà. Noi ti lodiamo, ti
benediciamo, ti adoriamo, ti glorifichiamo, ti
Signore,
Figlio unigenito, Gesù Cristo, Signore Dio, Agnello

viene a me. In
