The role of the Altar Server is to help out at the Altar during Mass. Altar Servers help set up, serve,
and clean up after the Mass. Any child who has received First Holy Communion may train to be an
Altar Server. If you would like to help out during

From the Deacon’s Desk . . .
A note from Fr. Wayne . . .
I love Confession. When I say
that, I mean that I love going to
Confession. Each week, I have
the blessed opportunity to see
one of my spiritual/formation
directors for a chat and Confession. My whole person feels
the power of God’s forgiving
love. It is an incredible feeling
to hear the words, “Your sins are forgiven.” We all
need to hear those words and feel that spiritual
touch of God’s hands through the words and actions
of the priest. I want you to experience that same
sentiment, so we have expanded the opportunities
you have for this sacrament. Check out the schedule
below. Every day there is the opportunity to receive
this sacrament of healing and forgiveness.
We will go back to the Mass next week!
I was cleaning my desk, in the office, and I came
across a small booklet; “Our Lady of Fatima’s Peace
Plan from Heaven”. Over the course of the several
days, I read the booklet and there were several little
known quotes from our Blessed Mother, revealed by
little Jacinta before her early death. One struck me:
“ If the government of a country, leaves the Church in
peace and gives liberty to our Holy Religion, it will be
blessed by God.”
Today’s United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Bishops of the world continue the Fight
for Religious Freedom. In the words of the United
States Conference of Catholic Bishops:
We are Catholics. We are Americans. We are proud
to be both, grateful for the gift of faith which is ours as
Christian disciples, and grateful for the gift of liberty
which is ours as American citizens. To be Catholic
and American should mean not having to choose one
over the other. Our allegiances are distinct, but they
need not be contradictory, and should instead be
complementary. That is the teaching of our Catholic
faith, which obliges us to work together with fellow
citizens for the common good of all who live in this
land. That is the vision of our founding and our Constitution, which guarantees citizens of all religious
faiths the right to contribute to our common life together. "

Il re Sedecia rispose: «Ecco, egli è nelle vostre mani;
il re infatti non ha poteri contro di voi». Essi allora
presero Geremia e lo gettarono nella cisterna di Malchia, principe regale, la quale si trovava nell'atrio
della prigione. Calarono Geremia con corde. Nella
cisterna non c'era acqua ma fango, e così Geremia
affondò nel fango.
Ebed-Melech uscì dalla reggia e disse al re: «Re mio
signore, quegli uomini hanno agito male facendo
quanto hanno fatto al profeta Geremia, gettandolo
nella cisterna. Egli morirà di fame sul posto, perché
non c'è più pane nella città». Allora il re diede
quest'ordine a Ebed-Melech l'Etiope: «Prendi con te
da qui tre uomini e fà risalire il profeta Geremia
dalla cisterna prima che muoia».
SECONDA ALLA SCRITTURA . . .
LA PAROLA DI CRISTO SEGNO DI DIVISIONE
Il regno di Dio è la realizzazione della comunione
tra gli uomini e con lui. Già i profeti lo avevano
annunciato e descritto come un tempo di pace, di
benessere, di gioie mai viste; un tempo di fraternità
universale e cosmica. Ogni barriera sarebbe stata
eliminata, si sarebbe costituito un solo popolo per
un solo Dio.
Gesù realizza il progetto di Dio nell’umanità
espresso dai profeti. Viene a «radunare i figli
dispersi». La sua ultima preghiera è la preghiera
per l’unità: «Padre, siano una cosa sola, come noi
siamo uno». Come mettere d’accordo queste
espressioni con le parole del vangelo di questa
domenica? «Pensate che io sia venuto a portare la
pace sulla terra? No, vi dico, ma la
divisione» (vangelo).

Dalla lettera agli Ebrei
Fratelli, circondàti da un gran numero di testimoni,
deposto tutto ciò che è di peso e il peccato che ci intralcia, corriamo con perseveranza nella corsa che ci
sta davanti, tenendo fisso lo sguardo su Gesù, autore e
perfezionatore della fede. Egli in cambio della gioia
che gli era posta innanzi, si sottopose alla croce, disprezzando l'ignominia, e si è assiso alla destra del
trono di Dio. Pensate attentamente a colui che ha
sopportato contro di sé una così grande ostilità dei
peccatori, perché non vi stanchiate perdendovi
d'animo. Non avete ancora resistito fino al sangue
nella vostra lotta contro il peccato.
