Einleitung
Dieses Buch soll als Dankeschön und im Zeichen von Erkenntlichkeit unseren Eltern gegenüber verstanden werden.
Sozusagen ein „Muss“, um an den Anfang eines Abenteuers zu erinnern, das Unternehmergeist,
den Willen etwas zu schaffen und eine harte Zeit zu überwinden, kennzeichnet.
Begonnen hat alles in Musile di Piave, das Ziel liegt in Jesolo.
Dieses Buch erzählt hiermit also die Zeit von 1957 bis 2007.

Q uesto libro vuole essere un segno di ringraziamento e di riconoscenza
verso i nostri genitori.
Un atto dovuto per ricordare l’inizio di un’avventura,
segnata dalla voglia di fare, di emergere, di uscire da un periodo nero.
Cominciata a Musile di Piave e arrivata a Jesolo.
Ecco, questo libro ripercorre il periodo che va dal 1957 al 2007.
50 anni di storia della nostra famiglia,
del nostro mestiere,
di VILLA SORRISO.

Wo das Abenteuer beginnt
A
lles hat in Musile di Piave in den 50er Jahren seinen Anfang.
Olindo Cadamuro kehrt aus dem Krieg zurück und beschließt eine Familie zu gründen.
Er sieht sich ein wenig um und in dem allseits bekannten Milchgeschäft der Familie Narder lernt er Clara,
das Mädchen mit einem ganz besonderem “Lächeln”, kennen.
Nach einer kurzen Verlobungszeit heiraten die beiden am 6. September 1952 in der Kirche S. Andrea Barbarana.
The adventure begins
I
t all started in Musile di Piave, in the 1950s.
On returning from the war, Olindo Cadamuro decided it was time to start a family.
As he took a look around him, he met “smiley” Clara in a historical dairy belonging to the Narder family.
After a short engagement, on 6th September 1952, they married in the church of St. Andrew Barbarana.

Dove nasce l ’avventura
T utto nasce a Musile di Piave negli anni ’50.
Olindo Cadamuro, al ritorno dalla guerra, decide di mettere su famiglia.
Si guarda un po’ intorno e in una storica latteria della famiglia Narder conosce la “sorridente” Clara.
Dopo un breve fidanzamento, il 6 settembre 1952, convolano a nozze nella chiesa di S. Andrea Barbarana.

In den ersten Jahren wohnen und bewirtschaften sie den Gasthof “Tombacco” am Platz in Musile.
1955 kommt Costantino zur Welt, der umgehend zur Maskotte der Kundschaft wird.
Die Gäste bemühen sich redlich, ihm die ersten “Kinderschabernacks” beizubringen.
In the early years, they lived in the Tombacco Inn that they managed in the square at Musile.
Costantino was born in 1955 and immediately became the mascot of the Inn’s regulars,
who did their utmost to teach him his first tricks.

D urante i primi anni, abitano nell’osteria in piazza a Musile,
chiamata “Tombacco” che gestiscono.
Nel 1955, nasce Costantino, che diventa subito la mascotte dei clienti dell’osteria,
i quali si danno un gran da fare per insegnarli le prime “maegrasie”.

it der finanziellen Unterstützung von Giuseppe, Claras Vater, und ein paar Wechselbriefen,
die in dieser Zeit üblicherweise ausgeschrieben wurden, wurde mit dem Bau der Pension Sorriso begonnen.

With the economic help of Clara’s father, Giuseppe and a few “IOUs”, which were commonly used at the time,

Die erste “Saison” ist die im Jahre 1957, in der die Gäste 1000 Lire pro Tag für Übernachtung und Vollpension bezahlen.
Der Strand ist 300 Meter breit und es türmen sich bis zu 15 Meter hohe Dünen.
The first “season” was summer 1957, when customers paid 1000 lira per day in full board.
The beach was 300 metres wide and covered by dunes of up to 15 metres high.

A l tempo esistevano alcune colonie per le cure talassoterapiche e alcuni alberghi:
Vidi, Bagni Miramare, Centrale, Rosa, Casabianca, Aurora, Eden e pochi altri.

In den ersten Jahren, wo es noch nicht sicher war, ob die Pension gut gehen würde,
blieb Olindo in Musile, um den Gasthof zu bewirtschaften.

In those early years, given the uncertainty as to whether the Pensione would work out,
Olindo stayed in Musile to manage the Inn and Clara, aided by her brother Berto,
spent the season in Jesolo.

N ei primi anni, non essendoci ancora la certezza che la pensione potesse funzionare,
Olindo resta a Musile a gestire l’osteria e Clara, aiutata dal fratello Berto,
è a Jesolo per la stagione.

Nach den ersten unmittelbaren Erfolgen beschließt das Ehepaar
den Gasthof in Musile aufzugeben und nach Jesolo zu ziehen.
Die Pension Sorriso wird damit zur Hauptaufgabe in der Sommersaison und im Winter zum Zuhause der Familie.

Pensione Sorriso therefore became their business for the summer season and their home for the winter.

en Winter verbringt man tagsüber in der Küche, wo ein Ölofen als Heizung dient.
Abends wird in den Zimmern der Pension geschlafen, die mit kleinen Notöfen beheizt werden.
Es ist die Zeit der Wärmeflaschen, der „Ziegelsteine“, die man unter die Decke legt, um sich zu erwärmen.
In den härtesten Monaten wohnt die Familie bei Tante Palmira, Olindos Schwester und Onkel Lelio, ihrem Mann.
Lelio war für lange Zeit der erste offizielle Bademeister der Pension Sorriso.
During the winter days, they lived in the kitchen, with the old naphtha stove for heating.
At night they slept in the guesthouse bedrooms, heated with emergency stoves.
They were the hot water bottle years, the years of bed-warmers placed under the blankets to warm the bed.
In the coldest months, they moved in with Aunt Palmira, Olindo’s sister and her husband, Uncle Lelio,
for many years the first official lifeguard of Pensione Sorriso.

D’ inverno, durante il giorno, si vive in cucina usando come riscaldamento la stufa a nafta.
La sera si dorme nelle camere della pensione riscaldate con stufette di emergenza.
Sono gli anni delle borse d’acqua calda, delle “moneghe” messe sotto le coperte per scaldare.
Nei mesi più freddi ci si sposta a casa di zia Palmira, sorella di Olindo, e zio Lelio, suo marito,
che è stato, per diversi anni, primo bagnino ufficiale della Pensione Sorriso.

s sind die Jahre der Entwicklung und Erfolgsgeschichte Jesolos
als internationaler Strand - nahezu ein noch nie dagewesenes Wunder.
In knapp 10 Jahren baut die kleine Ortschaft eine Reihe von wichtigen Infrastrukturen, um die sie zu dieser Zeit andere,
moderne Badeorte, nur beneiden konnten.

This was the period during which Jesolo consolidated its status as an international holiday resort,
an unprecedented miracle.
In just over 10 years, the little town developed a series of valuable infrastructures,
to become the envy of all the holiday resorts in vogue at the time.

Gli Anni ’60: lo sviluppo di Jesolo
S
ono gli anni dello sviluppo e l’affermazione di Jesolo
come spiaggia internazionale, un miracolo che non ha precedenti.
In poco più di 10 anni la piccola località si dota di una serie di infrastrutture di prestigio
da far invidia a tutte le località balneari in voga a quel tempo.

D urante gli inverni vengono costruiti alberghi, case e appartamenti sempre più numerosi.
Scoppia il boom economico anche per l’Italia, che vuole uscire dal periodo buio della guerra.

Mit ihren VW – Käfern werden sie zum Symbol des Urlaubers schlechthin.
Auch die ersten österreichischen Familien reisen an, die Aufenthaltszeit belief sich damals auf mindestens einen Monat.
Along came the first Germans, who had recovered earlier than the Italians, with their VW Beetles,
which immediately became the emblem of tourists on holiday.
Then came the first Austrian families, who in those days stayed for at least a month.

rrivano i primi tedeschi, più veloci degli italiani nella ripresa,
con le loro Volkswagen maggiolino che diventeranno il simbolo del turista in vacanza.
Arrivano anche le prime famiglie austriache, e in quegli anni i soggiorni erano minimo di un mese.

nter unseren ersten Stammgästen ein Richter aus Graz, der jedes Jahr die Saison einläutete und ausklingen ließ.
Eine legendäre Anekdote: Einmal haben wir ihn mit ein paar Flaschen des bekannten Vecchia Romagna (schwarze
Etikette) allein in der Pension gelassen, weil wir Gianni besuchen wollten, der in Caserta seinen Militärdienst leistete.
Er blieb als “Aufpasser” bis zu unserer Rückkehr.

ne of our first historical guests was a judge from Graz, who used to open and close the season.
An historical anecdote: one year, at the end of the season, we went to see Gianni who was doing his military service in
Caserta, leaving the judge on his own in the guesthouse, with a couple of bottles of legendary Vecchia Romagna black label,
and he stayed there, keeping guard until we returned.

T ra i nostri primi clienti storici, un giudice di Graz, che ogni anno apriva e chiudeva la stagione.
Un aneddoto storico: un anno, a fine stagione, per andare a trovare Gianni
che faceva il militare a Caserta, lo abbiamo lasciato solo in pensione,
con un paio di bottiglie della mitica Vecchia Romagna etichetta nera,
e lui è rimasto di guardia fino al nostro ritorno.

Zahlreich auch die italienischen Familien, die sowohl in Appartements als auch in Hotels längere Urlaube verbrachten.
Diese sind die Jahre, in denen man zufrieden und ruhig lebt.
Die Leute sind optimistisch eingestellt und haben nicht wirklich große Sorgen.
Es existiert so gut wie keine Kriminalität und die Eingangstür der Pension steht den “Nachtschwärmern” die ganze Nacht offen.
There were also a great many Italian families who stayed in the holiday homes and hotels.
They were the good life years, years of peace and quiet.
People were positive and carefree.
Petty crime did not exist and the guesthouse door was left unlocked all night for the revellers.

N umerose anche le famiglie italiane che soggiornano sia nelle case
che negli alberghi per lunghi periodi.
Sono anni in cui si vive bene, in tranquillità e serenità.
La gente è positiva, senza troppe preoccupazioni.
Non esiste delinquenza e la porta della pensione resta aperta tutta la notte per i “nottambuli”.

In Jesolo verkehren zahlreiche, damals bekannte Persönlichkeiten, Sänger und Schauspieler.
Abends sieht man Damen im Abendkleid und Herren im Sakko und zweifarbigen Schuhen.
Auf den Terrassen der großen Hotels wird getanzt: Marina, Bagni Miramare, Astoria,
Stej, wo auch das erste thermale Heliotherapie – Zentrum untergebracht ist.

esolo was popular with celebrities, famous singers and actors of the era.
In the evening the ladies wore long gowns and the gentlemen donned jackets and two-tone shoes.
Terrace-top dance floors attracted partygoers to the large hotels: The Marina, Bagni Miramare,
Astoria and the Stej which was also the first Heliotherapy Spa Centre.

esolo è frequentata da numerose personalità, cantanti e attori del tempo.
La sera si vedono le signore in abito lungo e gli uomini in giacca e scarpe bicolore.
Si frequentano le terrazze danzanti nei grandi alberghi: Marina, Bagni Miramare, Astoria,
Stej che, inoltre, ospitava il primo stabilimento Termale Elioterapico.

Die erste Rennstrecke der Pista Azzurra stammt aus dem Jahr 1961, die auch heute noch eine der besten Gokart-Bahnen in
Italien ist. Auch das internationale Reitturnier soll an dieser Stelle erwähnt werden

Einige erinnern sich noch an die Anekdote von “Pimpinello”, der von Graf Frova geritten wurde
Er verweigerte ein Hindernis und führte dadurch einen heftigen Sturz herbei.
Berühmte Jockeys aus dieser Zeit: die Brüder Piero und Raimondo D’Inzeo und Graziano Mancinelli.
Damals fand auch die bekannte Journalisten – Rallye statt. Die Etappe in Jesolo war ein absolutes “Muss”.
Jemand erinnert sich bestimmt noch an den Giro d’Italia, der 1955 in Jesolo durchfuhr.

the International Horse Trials were held on the site now occupied by Stadio Picchi.
Some of us still remember the anecdote of “Pimpinello”, ridden by count Frova,
who refused to jump one of the fences, causing his rider to fall off.
The era’s most famous jockeys were brothers Piero and Raimondo D’Inzeo and Graziano Mancinelli.
The Journalists’ Rally was another popular event of the time. The Cantagiro was a must-see for every visitor to Jesolo.
Some still remember the 1955 Tour of Italy.

È del ’61 il primo tracciato della Pista Azzurra, tutt’ora uno dei migliori per go kart
e ricordiamo il Concorso Ippico Internazionale che si svolgeva dove adesso si trova lo Stadio Picchi.
Qualcuno ricorda l’aneddoto di “Pimpinello” montato dal conte Frova
che si rifiutò di saltare l’ostacolo con rovinosa caduta.
Celebri fantini di quell’epoca: fratelli Piero e Raimondo D’Inzeo e Graziano Mancinelli.
Famoso in quegli anni anche il Rally dei Giornalisti. Il Cantagiro era una tappa obbligata a Jesolo.

Die 70er Jahre
nde der 60er Jahre gehen die Geschäfte gut und Clara und Olindo beschließen ihr Unternehmen auszubauen.
Sie planen die Pension Calipso, die in der Zwischenzeit neben unserer Pension Sorriso gebaut wurde, zu erwerben.
Zuerst werden die zwei Gebäude durch einen baufälligen Tunnel mit einem grünen Plastikdach verbunden.
Immer, wenn es regnete, stellte man sich mit den Kindern dort unter und der Lärm des Regens machte ihnen Angst.
The 1970s
In the late ’60s, given the healthy trend of their business, Olindo and Clara decided to expand their enterprise
by purchasing Pensione Calipso that had been built in the meantime next to our Pensione Sorriso.
The two buildings were initially joined by an old tunnel with a green corrugated plastic canopy over it.
When it rained, the children were taken underneath it and the noise on the roof was so loud that it used to scare them.

A lla fine degli anni ’60, Clara e Olindo, visto il buon andamento dell’attività,
decidono di allargare la loro impresa, prospettando l’acquisto della Pensione Calipso,

Am 3. März 1971 stirbt Olindo im Alter von 57 Jahren.Clara setzt ihr Abenteuer alleine fort, wobei ihr jedoch Costa hilft,
der mit der Schule aufhört, um in die Arbeitswelt einzutreten. Er arbeitet die ersten Saisonen als Küchenhilfe eines
Chefkochs, der als Lehrer in der Hotelfachschule in Abano arbeitet und ihm außer dem Handwerk
auch die Liebe für diesen Beruf vermittelt.
Costa beschließt den Beruf von Grund auf zu erlernen und arbeitet einige Wintersaisonen in bedeutenden Hotels.
Diese Erfahrungen teilt er mit Lorena, die bereits zur “offiziellen” Verlobten ernannt wurde.
Olindo died on 3rd March 1971, aged 57. Clara continued the adventure alone, assisted by Costa,
who left school early to start work.
He spent his first seasons as an assistant to a chef, who taught at the Abano Hospitality School
and who taught him the basics and transmitted him his love for the profession.
Costa decided to take the profession seriously by going to work in big hotels for a number of winter seasons.
He shared this experience with Lorena, who had in the meantime become his official girlfriend.

I l 3 marzo 1971, a 57, anni muore Olindo. Clara continua da sola l’avventura aiutata da Costa,
che lascia presto gli studi per entrare nel mondo del lavoro.
Fatte le prime stagioni come aiutante in cucina di uno Chef, professore della scuola alberghiera di
Abano, che gli trasmette, oltre alle nozioni, anche l’amore per questa professione.
Costa decide di imparare veramente il mestiere andando, per alcune stagioni invernali,
a lavorare in grandi alberghi. Questa esperienza è condivisa con Lorena ormai fidanzata “ufficiale”.

Es sind die Jahre, in denen es in Jesolo ein bewegtes Nachtleben gibt: Man zählte bis zu zwanzig Diskotheken.
Die bekanntesten darunter waren: Alla Villa, wo Costa in den 70er Jahren als DJ arbeitete,
King’s, Muretto, Splash, Tucano und noch viele andere.
Damals existierten noch keine “after hours”, die ausgelassenen Nächte ganz im Stil von Ibiza.
Das Nachtleben war ein wirkliches Vergnügen und auch wenn es manchmal übertrieben erschien,
verlief es immer noch in relativ geordneten Bahnen.

m 5. August 1986 erlöscht das “Lächeln” von Donna Clara. Auch die Urlaubsgäste spüren die Trauer.
Ihr Abschied bedeutet für Costa und Gianni das Ende einer unbeschwerten Zeit. Jetzt begann auch für sie der Ernst des Lebens:
Buchhaltung, Banken, Steuerberater. Zum Glück übernimmt Lorena diese Aufgaben,
in die sie in den vorhergehenden Jahren von ihrer “Schwiegermutter” Clara bestens eingeführt wurde.
On 5th August 1986, Clara’s smile left us. A void that was even felt by the guests on holiday.
Her death meant the end of their carefree days for Costa and Gianni,
who now had to take care of the serious things like bookkeeping, banks and accountants.
Fortunately, Lorena took over in this area, putting into practice years of lessons from her mother-in-law Clara.

Ende der 80er Jahre beschließen Costa und Gianni mit den bereits gesammelten Erfahrungen und ihrem Unternehmergeist
ihre Aktivitäten zu diversifizieren. Sie übernehmen einen Tennis- und Reitclub, den Sporting Club Serenissima.
Der Sporting Club Serenissima ist bekannt geworden: Dort wurde ein neuer Stil guter Unterhaltung geschaffen,
dazu gehörten ein Restaurant mit Cocktail-Bar und Klaviermusik so wie ein Garten.
Viele Persönlichkeiten verkehren im Lokal, darunter Sänger, Schauspieler und Fußballer.
In den darauf folgenden Jahren ist es das erste Lokal Italiens, wo man Karaoke singen kann.

In the late 1980s, having acquired the necessary experience and summoned up their courage, Costa and Gianni decided to
diversify their business by taking over a tennis and horse riding centre: Sporting Club Serenissima.
And Sporting Club Serenissima set new rules by offering a new type of entertainment, with a restaurant, bar and garden.
It soon became a favourite with celebrities who became regulars, singers, actors and footballers.
In the years to come, it became the first establishment in Italy to organise karaoke nights.

A lla fine degli anni ’80 acquisita l’esperienza e il coraggio, Costa e Gianni decidono di diversificare
la loro attività rilevando un centro sportivo di tennis ed equitazione: Sporting Club Serenissima.
Lo Sporting Club Serenissima ha fatto scuola:
offre un nuovo stile di intrattenimento, con ristorante piano bar e giardino.
Numerosi sono i vips che frequentano il locale: cantanti, attori, calciatori.
Negli anni a seguire sarà il primo locale in Italia a proporre il Karaoke.

Nell’inverno ’99 - 2000 viene effettuato un ripascimento della spiaggia
con l’allungamento in certi tratti di trenta metri, e il prolungamento dei famosi pontili.

Nach einer Zeit, in der Jesolo anscheinend nichts mehr “Neues” zu bieten hat und bei seinem Publikum

Unser Unterhaltungsprogramm kommt immer besser an: Es reicht von der Animation der Kleinkinder,
die Theateraufführungen, Zauberer, Singspiele und andere Spielereien umfasst, bis hin zu kulinarischen Abenden,
von denen der berühmteste sicher das Spargel-Dinner ist.
Es findet nun schon zum 7. Mal im Monat Mai in Zusammenarbeit
mit dem Restaurant “Le Calandrine” von Cimadolmo statt.
Zu diesem Anlass reisen Gäste aus ganz Venetien und sogar von jenseits der Alpen an.

ecent years have bought with them great satisfaction,
in which the Cadamuro management style has been highly acclaimed.
The restaurant terrace has been closed to non-guests to safeguard our guests’ privacy.
Entertainment has been an even bigger success:
from the children’s entertainment programme including theatres, magicians,
singing and games to our culinary evenings, the most famous of which is the asparagus dinner.
The event, which this year comes to its seventh edition, is held in May, in conjunction with the Le Calandrine
restaurant in Cimadolmo and attracts guests from all over Veneto and even abroad.

G li anni nostri sono gli anni delle grandi soddisfazioni, anni in cui viene riconosciuta
la professionalità della gestione Cadamuro.
La terrazza ristorante viene chiusa agli avventori esterni per salvaguardare la privacy dei nostri ospiti.
L’ intrattenimento ha ancora maggiore successo: dall’animazione per i più piccoli, che prevede
teatrini, maghi, canti, giochi, alle serate gastronomiche, di cui la più famosa è la cena degli asparagi.
Ormai giunta alla settima edizione, si svolge nel mese di maggio, in collaborazione con il ristorantie
“Le Calandrine” di Cimadolmo, e vede la partecipazione di ospiti da tutto il Veneto e perfino d’oltralpe.

und ganz wie ein edler Wein, nehmen sowohl sein Können wie auch sein “Bäuchlein” zu.
Die auf CD und DVD aufgenommene Musik wird Gästen und Freunden geschenkt,
die sich damit an ihren Urlaub zurückerinnern können.

Es bereichert den, der es erhält, ohne den anderen ärmer zu machen.

Niemand ist so reich, dass er darauf verzichten kann,

Unsere Familiengeschichte endet hier und man wird die nächsten 50 Jahre abwarten müssen,
um zu erfahren, wie dieses Abenteuer weitergeht. Leider werden es nicht wir kommentieren.
Wir sind jedoch überzeugt davon, dass man alle schönen Geschichten erzählen und überliefern muss – vor allem,
wenn sie mit viel Liebe, Passion und Respekt gegenüber dem Leben, der Arbeit und unseren Nächsten erlebt werden.

Unfortunately, we will not be here to tell the tale, but we are, however,

L a nostra storia si ferma qui e si dovranno aspettare i prossimi 50 anni
per sapere come proseguirà questa avventura.
Nostro malgrado, non saremo noi a commentarla.
