48 SUNDAY Dear parishioners, it is an honour to be the new pastor of St. Clare Parish, especially during the 100th anniversary of this extraordinary community. I am happy to inform you that Bishop John Boissonneau will be installing me as pastor on Saturday, August 9th during the 5:00 pm mass. Apart from being my former Rector, Bishop John also used to help at St. Clare's early in his priesthood. I hope you will be able to join us for this mass. All of the masses during the weekend of August 9-10 will be in honour of our Church Patroness, St. Clare. We pray for Fr. Vito who has taken his appointment as Pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish in Brampton and thank him for his ministry to both St. Clare and St. Nicholas Parish. Come this August and there afterwards, we will not have a 9:00 a.m. Mass on Saturdays. Considering that on any given Saturday, we have several weddings, funerals etc., this will be the best for the present situation at St. Clare. On the First Fridays of the month, Holy Hour will now begin at 8:00 a.m. where confessions will be heard and ending with 9:00 a.m. Mass. Yours in Christ, Fr. Xavier Healing Mass Starting on First Friday this August and every First Friday after that, we will be having a Healing Mass at 9:00 am. This is an opportunity for you to receive the healing oil that refreshes us and brings us closer to Jesus. The oil of the sick is administered to all the faithful as a sign of our communion with The Lord and His constant care for us. ENCOUNTER: A Youth Bible Study All students from Grades 7 - 12 are invited for a Youth Bible Study! Encounter is a series of videoguided study of Scripture, accompanied by games and fellowship. Sessions continue on the next two Monday evenings (July 21st & 28th) at 6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Snacks are provided and everything is free! Meeting of Lectors & Eucharistic Ministers On July 22nd, there is a meeting of all Lectors & Eucharistic Ministers that will be held in the church at 7:00 p.m. 100TH Anniversary Parish Photo Directory In honour of the 100th Anniversary of our Parish, we are planning to produce a photo directory. A major part of the parish directory will be a collection of family portraits. By having your portrait taken, this would entitle you to a free copy of the anniversary directory. This photo directory is an important community builder. It helps us to get to know one another by putting a name to a face and it will be a wonderful keepsake of our parish at this special moment in time! In order to guarantee the success of this project, we require your participation. In addition, we will be looking for volunteers to help in the organization. Please contact the church office if you’d like to be part of the photo directory team or to book an appointment to have your picture taken. More details regarding the project will follow in the next few months. INSURANCE COLLECTION As you know, we continue to accept donations that will help to cover the overwhelming Insurance Bill, which we expect to come in at over $18,000! Please find a special envelope for this collection, either in your envelope packet or at the entrance of the church. It would take about $50 per family for us to be able to meet this challenge, but we understand that not everyone can contribute equally, and so, whatever you can do will be tremendously appreciated. Thank you for understanding. August Schedule of Events Mission Co-op – August 2/3 Civic Holiday – Monday, August 4 – Office Closed Fr.
