God transcends our limited expectations
‘The call of the holy God does not conform to what we
expect. Unworthiness cannot be used as an excuse to
keep to safe old ways. Isaiah is not allowed to stay in
the temple and Peter cannot remain on the shore. They
are both sent out into the sinful world.
‘God calls us not to just savour his holiness in
the safety of the familiar but he sends us out into the
deep, into the unknown, to make his glory manifest to
a hostile world. Isaiah is sent to preach justice to an unrepentant Israel and Simon is sent to preach the Gospel
to a society where many felt lost and set apart from the
holiness of God.
‘God calls the prophets and apostles in dramatic ways but he also calls each of one of us. He
breaks open our familiar defences and transcends our
limited expectations. He invites us to put out into the
deep wherever we are. Only by responding to his call
and encountering his holy presence, we will finally discover the true identity for which he created us.’

of death. However, this sacrament is not only for those
who are at the point of death. It is also appropriate to
receive the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick prior to
a serious operation. Those who have
a chronic condition, or are becoming
frail with old age, may receive
Anointing of the Sick on more than
one occasion.’

There will be a Parish Volunteer get together (Lenten
Worshop) in the Parish Hall on Saturday, March 2nd,
2013, starting from 1:00pm followed by Mass at
5:00pm and Dinner after the Mass. The Lenten reflection will be given by Conni Price a staff member of the
Office of Formation for Discipleship, Archdiocese of
Toronto. Please don’t miss this wonderful opportunity
to celebrate the Year of Faith and Renewal of our Ministry at OLA. I encourage everyone to attend. Sign up

WORLD DAY of PRAYER 2013
On Friday, March 22, our church is hosting the World Day of
Prayer. This annual event takes place each year throughout
the world where Christians of all denominations gather to
pray together. The Theme for this year is “I Was a Stranger
and You Welcomed Me”. At one point in time, we have all
experienced the loneliness of feeling like a stranger and the
joy of being a part of a welcoming church community. In
celebration of the YEAR OF FAITH, please invite your
friends and family to attend and learn more about the culture
and heritage of France. Join Christians in more than 170
countries around the world and 2,000 communities across
Canada. The program begins at 7:00 pm with Mass, World
Day of Prayer Service followed by a reception in the Parish

Prima di essere la pietra su cui Cristo
avrebbe fondato la sua Chiesa, Pietro-Simone
è stato colui che ha percorso per intero il
cammino pieno di passione impulsiva ed
insieme di incertezze verso il suo Signore.
Egli è stato in questo modo colui che ha percorso, prima di noi, l’itinerario che a ciascuno di noi è chiesto di percorrere. Simone
era un pescatore: ciascuno ha il suo lavoro e
a ciascuno può capitare di faticare nel buio di
tante notti e di non prendere nulla Ma interviene quella Presenza
che chiede di lavorare sulla sua parola, cioè di vivere la propria
esistenza all’interno di quell’avvenimento potente che è Cristo Signore e allora il nostro lavoro e la nostra esistenza trovano una fecondità mai prima conosciuta. In questo stesso momento ciascuno
di noi percepisce la propria distanza da quell’abbraccio misericordioso ed insieme la propria estrema vicinanza.Non saremo chiamati a fare altre cose, ma a farle per un altro scopo. Così Pietro
continuerà ad essere pescatore, ma da allora in poi sarà pescatore di
uomini.
GIORNATA MONDIALE di PREGHIERA 2013
Venerdi, 22 Marzo la nostra chiesa ospiterá la Giornata
Mondiale di Preghiera. Quest’evento annuale si celebra ogni
anno dove tutte le religioni cristiane si uniscono per pregare
assieme. Il tema per quest’anno é “ Ero Straniero E Tu Mi
Hai Accolto”. In un punto della nostra vita tutti abbiamo
sperimentato la solitudine di sentirci stranieri e la gioia di
essere stati accolti da una comunitá accogliente e generosa.
In celebrazione dell’ANNO DELLA FEDE siete pregati di
venire tutti, invitate le vostre famiglie e amici a partecipare a
quest’evento, unendoci ad altri Cristiani di 170 paesi nel
mondo e alle 2,000 comunitá attraverso il Canadá. Il programma incomincia alle ore 7:00 con la Santa Messa e servizio per la Giornata Mondiale di Preghiera. Seguirá un rinfresco nella sala parrocchiale. Per saperne di piú telefonate
