thermography on buildings, systems or machinery c an

RESULTS
C.P.M. technical staff use an FLR i7 thermographic camera for diagnostic
maintenance. Diagnostic maintenance is a type of
preventive maintenance carried
out after one or more parameters have to be measured, the data is then down
loaded after having been identified using appropriate mathematical models in
order to identify and gauge the time remaining before a potential fault may
occur. One of the measurements taken is the temperature. In fact, infrared
diagnostic maintenance on the machinery can reveal operational abnormalities
which are often invisible to the naked eye. Thus, the Thermography technique
enables corrective counter-measures to be programmed beforehand thus
preventing and any expensive breakdowns in the electrical or mechanical systems
that may occur. As regards to the mechanical systems, the investigations are
carried out on electro-mechanical equipment, such as the electro-pumps. The
thermographic camera can also be used to inspect the motors. Motor faults,
such as wear and tear due to the contact of the brushes, as well as any leaks in
the armature, are factors which typically occur prior to a fault. They generate
excessive heat and may pass unobserved as they do not necessarily produce any
unusual vibrations. Infrared thermography offers a complete panorama, and
enables the temperature of the various motors to be compared. A thermographic
camera enables these and many other problems to be identified early. This helps
prevent costly damage and ensures production continuity.
A thermographic camera can be used also to regularly inspect electrical
systems, such as electrical and control panels. If the latter are not checked,
they may overheat causing the connections to melt and thus causing faults or
fires. In addition to loose connections, they also cause problems for electrical
systems, load imbalance, corrosion and a higher impedance/current ratio.
Thermographic inspections can quickly identify the hot spots, evaluate the
seriousness of the problem and help establish intervention times. Examples of
faults in low voltage devices which a thermographic camera can identify are:
High-tensile connections;
Connection corrosion;
Internal fuse damage;
Internal faults of the automatic switches;
Inefficient connections and internal damage;
