DOGICAN: WE CAN
90 employees are divided in two plants on a total area of 22.000 squared meters,
11.000 of which are covered. The turnover has seen a continuous rise and today is
circa 8 million Euros per year, for an annual production of at least 45,000 cylinders
and export account for more than 30%.
A new recent plant has extended the capacity of the warehouse, an important issue
to grant the availability and the stock of parts, as well as the capacity for quality
inspection and test departments, another critical part of our production process, an
inspection which is done on all the components including a metrology laboratory
analysis.
Our history
Dogican was established in the Seventy’s and has the typical lean and dynamic
organization of the small-medium size family business, which is able to quickly
adapt to different customers enquiries.
Today in fact the Dogican customers are appreciating the availability of parts,
technical support during the project stage, and above all service for maintenance,
repair and replacement.
The second generation is already active in the company and has brought an
enthusiasm that confirms the management style of the family business: direct
contact with customers, suppliers and employees; flexibility in design and
manufacturing (the customers are a partner and their suggestions always welcomed
for new challenges); careful control of all the production steps; constant inspection
of specifications to look for continuous improvements and updates.
Certificates
The quality inspection is severe and meets the most demanding
specifications. Dogican is ISO 9001 certified, a quality proven also by the
long relationship with our significant customers which are choosing us as
their privileged partner.

Research and development
Dogican carry out the design entirely in house with 3D CAD stations (a technical
office with a 30 years experience assist the customers’ technical departments for
further support or even a total outsourcing of the service), as well as machining with
CNC centers, including the assembly and automated welding with robot.
WE ARE LIKE OUR PRODUCTS: DYNAMIC AND FLEXIBLE
Our cylinders are covering all sizes, from 20 to 1800 mm inside diameter. We
manufacture cylinders according to a drawing, or we study the best technical
solution according to the specifications of the customers.
We also have had the opportunity to produce special applications cylinders for they
show our know-how and our level of understanding of technical specifications,
including the most demanding and apparently impossible: steel cylinders for a dam
with a weight of 6 ton; a cylinder of 54 ton for a very large horizontal press, an
“accordion” cylinder – our invention – for a special drying machine.

World leader in quantity
The production capacity installed corresponds to more than 1800 tons per year of
skived and roller burnished / honed tubes.
All the equipment have been designed and built by Dogican, taking a great
advantage of a 35 years long production experience. Dogican equipment machines
the tube horizontally; the tube turns and the tool translates, carried at one end of the
boring bar. Rotation and translation may be varied continuously. Machining the
tube horizontally means an easier control of the tube itself from both sides and an
easier positioning for long tubes. The machining operation is fully automated.
CYLINDER TUBES: MACHINING TECHNOLOGIES
Two technologies are in use: traditional honing and skiving and roller burnishing
process.
Dogican machines cylinder tubes operating with both technologies selecting the
most suitable for the different diameters and applications.
Honing is the oldest process, still widely in use. A boring operation is always
performed before honing. Honing tool works by stones or other abrasive means;
the honing operation is made by very long strokes, back and forth, of the tool itself,
placed at one end of the boring bar. In order to ensure a good quality by honing,

the material removal must be at least 0.1/0.3 mm, depending on the quality of the
base material. An advantage of the honing process is the fact that the tooling is
cheap and can be easily adjusted to different diameters.
THE STEEL
Dogican uses for its own chromium plated bars clean steel, free from inclusions and
surface defects, produced accordingly to the best technique by a restricted number
of constant and selected suppliers. The quality is always proved by mills
certificates.
THE SURFACE PROCESSING
The best quality of a chromium plated surface is obtained working on it both before
and after chromium plating.
This can be achieved thanks to a talented and trained workforce operating the most
technologically advanced equipment.
THE FINISHING
After chromium plating, no grinding is allowed if you want a high corrosion
resistance!
The final tolerance must be achieved during chromium plating!

Double acting hydraulic cylinder
The double effect hydraulic cylinder is used when both a thrust and traction
movements are needed, for example in order to open or close the jib of a crane, or
to operate the steering mechanism of a self-propelled machine.
Such cylinder is the most used and it usually fits a variety of applications.
Some applications are: lifting mechanism on building cranes or crane trucks,
excavators, machines for environment, machines for roads building and
maintenance, dam bulkheads, in the naval sector, etc.

Single effect hydraulic cylinder
The single effect cylinder is used when a thrust or a traction movement is needed,
but not both of them and the return is done with a force applied in the opposite way
from the moved load or the cylinder itself, for example in the cars lifting bridge, or
the building formworks, etc.
The applications are therefore building equipment such as formworks, industrial
and agricultural equipment, environment machines, road building and maintenance
machines, in the naval sector, etc.
Plunger hydraulic cylinder
The plunger is used when only a thrust movement is needed and the return is done
with a force applied in the opposite way from the moved load or the cylinder itself,
for example in the cars lifting bridge, or the large steel furnaces, or the vertical
presses, etc.
The applications are: building equipment such as formworks, industrial and
agricultural equipment, environment machines, road building and maintenance
machines, in the naval sector, etc.
Telescopic hydraulic cylinder
The telescopic cylinder is used when only a thrust movement is needed and the
available closed clearance is less than the open one.
Such cylinder can have more sliding according to the specifications. With special
features they can accommodate three, four or more sliding.
The applications are dump body for trucks, industrial, building and agricultural
equipment where long strokes and low pressures are needed.
Double sliding and double acting cylinder
The double sliding and double acting cylinder is used when both a thrust and
traction movements are needed and the available closed clearance is less than the
open one.
The applications are: sliding of cranes, channels of concrete mixer and in all the
industrial, building and agricultural equipment where long strokes and very high
pressure are needed.
