Il Prof. Arthur C. Brooks è Professore Louis A. Bantle di Business and Government
Policy alla Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs e alla Whitman School
of Management dell’Università di Syracuse. Nel mese di luglio è stato annunciato
come nuovo Presidente della American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research, a partire dal 1 gennaio 2009. Nel 1998 ha ottenuto un dottorato in Public Policy Analysis alla Rand Graduate School, e ha anche un MA e un BA in economia. Il
Dott. Brooks ha pubblicato circa 100 articoli e diversi libri sulle connessioni tra cultura, politica e vita economica in America. È spesso relatore negli Stati Uniti, in Europa ed in Asia, e collabora regolarmente con il Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Portfolio, e altre testate giornalistiche. Gross National Happiness è il suo settimo libro, il secondo per gradimento del pubblico. Il

S.A.E. Fra’ Matthew Festing è stato eletto 79° Principe e Gran Maestro del Sovrano Militare Ordine Ospedaliero di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme di Rodi e di
Malta l’11 maggio 2008. Egli è entrato a far parte del Sovrano Militare Ordine di
Malta nel 1977, diventandone un Cavaliere Professo di voti perpetui nel 1991. Nel
1993 fu nominato Gran Priore d’Inghilterra, dopo 450 anni dalla ricostituzione del
Gran Priorato. In questo ruolo, ha condotto missioni di assistenza umanitaria in
Bosnia, Serbia, Croazia e Kosovo a seguito dei conflitti in questi paesi e guida ogni
anno la delegazione della Gran Bretagna al pellegrinaggio annuale dell'Ordine a
Lourdes con i malati. Il Gran Maestro ha servito nei Granatieri, dove ricopre il grado di colonnello nella riserva. E’ stato insignito del grado di ufficiale dell’Ordine
dell’Impero Britannico dalla Regina Elisabetta II, della quale è uno dei rappresentanti nella Contea di Northumberland. Ha studiato al Collegio di Ampleforth a York e
al Collegio di St John dell’Università di Cambridge dove si è laureato in storia. È
esperto di arte e ha svolto la maggior parte della sua attività professionale in una
casa d’aste internazionale
S.E. l’Ambasciatore Mary Ann Glendon è stata confermata Ambasciatore degli
Stati Uniti d’America il 19 dicembre 2007 e ha prestato giuramento il 14 febbraio
2008. Precedentemente alla sua nomina, l’Ambasciatore Glendon è stata Professoressa Learned Hand di Diritto all’Università di Harvard. Nel 1995, Papa Giovanni
Paolo II l’ha nominata capo della Delegazione della Santa Sede alla Conferenza delle
Nazioni Unite sulle Donne di Beijing. Dal 2001 al 2004, ha fatto parte del Consiglio
del Presidente sulla Bioetica, che fornisce pareri al Presidente degli Stati Uniti. Nel
marzo del 2004 è stata nominata da Papa Giovanni Paolo II Presidente della Pontificia Accademia delle Scienze Sociali. Oltre che a Harvard, l’Ambasciatore Glendon ha

Hon. Michael Novak currently holds the George Frederick Jewett Chair in religion and
public policy at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C., where he is director of social and political studies. He has authored some 25 influential books that have
been published in every major Western language, and in Bengali, Korean, and Japanese.
His numerous reviews and essays have been published in such prestigious newspapers
and journals as First Things, The New York Times Magazine, National Review, and The Yale
Law Journal. He serves on editorial boards of several publications and organizations in the
United States and abroad. He was co-founder of The World, Crisis, and First Things, and
served as publisher and editor of Crisis until 1996. Michael Novak was appointed and
served as Ambassador of the U.S. Delegation to the U.N. Human Rights Commission in
Geneva, 1981–1982. He has also taught at Harvard University, Stanford University, Syracuse University, and University of Notre Dame. He studied philosophy and English at
Stonehill College, theology at the Gregorian University in Rome. He received his masters
in history and the philosophy of religion from Harvard University. He has been awarded
more than 15 honorary degrees in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Salvatore Rebecchini studied economics at the University of Rome La Sapienza,
and earned an Master in Business Administration from Columbia University, New York
in 1981. From 1982–2003 he worked for Banca d’Italia and was posted at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC, and at the Italian Embassy in Paris. From
2003–2006 Dr. Rebecchini served as Chairman of the Board of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti,
a financial institution owned by the Italian Treasury. In 2006, he was appointed Chairman
of F2i S.g.r., a private equity fund specializing in infrastructure investment. Dr. Rebecchini is also a member of several boards of directors, including Fondazione Magna Carta,
Fondazione Salvatore Rebecchini, and Centro di Orientamento Politico.
Rev. Robert A. Sirico has been active in public policy affairs for the past eighteen years.
His concern that religious communities knew little about the economic issues surrounding today's social problems prompted him to found the Acton Institute for the Study of
Religion and Liberty in 1990. Father Sirico regularly lectures both in this country and
around the world, and his writings have appeared in various journals, including The Wall
Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, National Review, The London Financial Times, and
Crisis. In addition to his duties at the Acton Institute, he has served in parish ministries
in Michigan, and most recently founded a new religious community, St. Philip Neri
House, in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Il Dott. Salvatore Rebecchini ha studiato economia all’Università di Roma La Sapienza
e ha ottenuto un Master in Business Administration all’Università di Columbia a New
York, nel 1981. Ha lavorato alla Banca d’Italia dal 1982 al 2003, che lo ha assegnato al
Fondo Monetario Internazionale a Washington, D.C., e all’Ambasciata italiana a Parigi.

H.M.E.H. Fra' Matthew Festing became the 79th Prince and Grand Master of the
Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta
on May 11, 2008. He became a member of the Order of Malta in 1977 and took solemn religious vows in 1991. He has been the Grand Prior of England since the Priory’s re-establishment in 1993, restored after an abeyance of 450 years. In this capacity,
he has led missions of humanitarian aid to Kosovo, Serbia and Croatia after the recent
disturbances in those countries. With a large delegation from Britain, he attends the
Order’s annual pilgrimage to Lourdes with handicapped pilgrims. Fra' Festing served
in the Grenadier Guards and holds the rank of colonel in the Territorial Army. He was
appointed OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth II
and has served as her Deputy Lieutenant in the county of Northumberland for a number of years. Educated at Ampleforth College in York and St. John’s College at the
University of Cambridge, where he earned a degree in history, Fra' Festing is also an
art expert and has worked at an international art auction house for most of his professional life.
H.E. Ambassador Mary Ann Glendon was confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to
the Holy See on December 19, 2007 and was sworn in on February 14, 2008. Prior to
her appointment, Ambassador Glendon was the Learned Hand Professor of Law at
Harvard University. In 1995, Pope John Paul appointed her head of the Holy See’s
Delegation to the United Nations Conference on Women in Beijing. From 2001 to
2004, she served on the President’s Council on Bioethics, which advises the United
States President. In March 2004, she was appointed by Pope John Paul II as President
of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. In addition to teaching at Harvard, Ambassador Glendon has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, the Jesuit-run Pontifical Gregorian University and the Legionaries of Christ’s Regina Apostolorum Athenaeum, both in Rome. Ambassador Glendon earned her bachelor’s degree, law degree and a master’s degree in comparative law at the University of Chicago.
Her research has focused on European civil law, human rights, legal theory and comparative constitutional law.

Il Sig. Frank J. Hanna III è un banchiere commerciale di Atlanta che ha avviato e sviluppato numerose attività di successo. Da ben 24 anni è coinvolto nella promozione della
libertà d’istruzione, aiutando ad avviare tre scuole cattoliche ad Atlanta, portando avanti
numerose proposte a favore della riforma scolastica, presiedendo il Comitato sull’Eccellenza Educativa del Presidente degli Stati Uniti per gli ispano-americani. È spesso relatore
in materia di affari e responsabilità amministrativa. Di recente è stato pubblicato il suo

Mr. Frank J. Hanna III is a merchant banker in Atlanta and has started and backed a
number of successful businesses. He has also been highly involved in promoting educational liberty for the last 24 years, helping to start three new Catholic schools in Atlanta,
leading various efforts for school reform, and chairing the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans. Mr. Hanna has been a frequent
speaker on business and stewardship. He is author of the recently published book, What
Your Money Means. Mr. Hanna is also the founder of the Solidarity Foundation, a member of the Papal Foundation, and he recently gave some of the oldest existing parchments of the Gospel of Luke to Pope Benedict XVI.

Jürgen Liminski holds degrees in political science from the University of Strasbourg,
France and information sciences from the University of Navarra in Pamplona,
Spain. He is an anchorman/journalist for the German national broadcast Deutschlandfunk
and an editorialist for several newspapers, read regularly by four million readers. A specialist in foreign policy, especially the Middle East and Islam, as well as social and family
policy, he served as editor-in-chief for international affairs at the German daily Die Welt
for eight years. He is the author of two recent books on family policy and is the director
of the Institute for Demography, Welfare and Family in Sankt Augustin. He works as a
consultant for Aid to the Church in Need in Königstein, Germany, where he writes the
fundraising newsletter "Mirror". He and his wife have ten children.

Il Prof. Giovanni Mottini è laureato in medicina e chirurgia, specialista in malattie infettive e medicina tropicale. È responsabile della Segreteria Scientifica del Comitato Etico
dell’Università Campus Bio-Medico a Roma, presso cui è incaricato della docenza di Medicina Sociale e Aiuti Umanitari. È esperto di cooperazione internazionale e ha coordinato progetti di cooperazione in diversi paesi in via di sviluppo (Perù, Albania, Congo) nel
settore della sanità pubblica e dell’educazione alla salute. Dal giugno 2008 il Prof. Mottini
è Presidente della Harambee Africa International Onlus, un’ istituzione orientata a sostenere
progetti educativi in Africa e diffondere una immagine positiva e propositiva dell’Africa
attraverso attività di comunicazione e sensibilizzazione. È curatore del volume Medical
Humanities: le scienze umane in medicina, e autore di saggi sulla cooperazione internazionale.
Prof. Giovanni Mottini is a licensed medical practitioner specialized in infectious diseases and tropical medicine. He is head of the Science Ethics Committee at the University Bio-Medical Campus in Rome, where he teaches courses in social medicine and humanitarian aid. An international aid expert, Prof. Mottini has coordinated aid projects in
various developing countries (Peru, Albania, Congo) in the public health care sector and
in health education. In June 2008 Prof. Mottini was appointed President of Harambee
Africa International Onlus, a non-profit institution supporting educational projects in Africa
and with a mission to creating a positive image of this continent through communications and awareness campaigns. He is the editor of Medical Humanities: le scienze umane in
medicina and has published several articles on the theme of international aid.
