Prof. Philip Booth
Philip Booth è direttore editoriale e dei programmi dell’Institute of Economic Affairs di
Londra e Professore di Insurance and Risk Management alla Cass Business School. Laureato in
economia presso l’Università di Durham, ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in Finanza. È membro dell’Institute of Actuaries e della Royal Statistical Society. Precedentemente,

Prof. Philip Booth
Philip Booth is Editorial and Programme Director at the Institute of Economic Affairs
in London and Professor of Insurance and Risk Management at Cass Business School.
He has an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Durham and a
PhD in Finance. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and of the Royal Statistical
Society. Previously, Philip Booth worked for the Bank of England as an advisor on financial stability issues. He has written widely, including a number of books, on investment, finance, social insurance and pensions as well as on the relationship between
Catholic social teaching and economics. He is editor of Economic Affairs and Associate
Editor of the Annals of Actuarial Science and the British Actuarial Journal. He is also editor
and co-author of Catholic Social Teaching and the Market Economy.
Dott. Michael Miller
Michael Miller è direttore dei programmi dell’Acton Institute di Grand Rapids, Michigan,
e supervisore delle attività svolte a livello internazionale. Si è laureato all’Università di
Notre Dame, ha conseguito un master presso la Nagoya University's Graduate School of International Development (Giappone), un master in filosofia presso la Franciscan University e un

Dr. Michael Miller
Michael Miller is the Director of Programs at the Acton Institute in Grand Rapids,
Michigan, and also oversees all of Acton's international work. He received his bachelor's
degree from the University of Notre Dame, has an MA from Nagoya University's
Graduate School of International Development (Japan), an MA in philosophy from
Franciscan University, and an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird
(The American Graduate School of International Management). Before coming to Acton, he spent three years at Ave Maria College of the Americas in Nicaragua where he
taught philosophy and political science and was the chair of the philosophy and theology department. He has almost 10 years of international experience and has lived and
traveled in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. He has been published in the The
Washington Times, The Detroit News, and Crisis. His research interests include political
economy, moral philosophy, economic development, and political theory
Dott. Giampaolo Silvestri
Il Dott. Giampaolo Silvestri è Project Director della Fondazione AVSI, un’organizzazione
non governativa con sede a Milano che realizza progetti di sviluppo. Si è laureato alla
Università Bocconi di Milano ed è membro del Consiglio di Amministrazione di organizzazioni per lo sviluppo in Romania, Albania, Uganda e Nigeria. È specializzato nel
monitoraggio e nella valutazione dei programmi internazionali di emergenza e sviluppo
in Africa e Medio Oriente e spesso opera in collaborazione con l’Unione Europea e le
agenzie delle Nazioni Unite. Inoltre, il Dott. Silvestri tiene diversi corsi in materia di
project cycle management e di cooperazione allo sviluppo presso l’Università Cattolica di
Milano e l’Università di Bergamo.
Dr. Giampaolo Silvestri
Dr. Giampaolo Silvestri is Project Director at Fondazione AVSI, a Milan-based international non-governmental organization that implements development projects. He graduated with a degree in economics from Milan’s Bocconi University and is a member of
the Board of Directors of development organizations in Romania, Albania, Uganda and
Nigeria. His expertise is monitoring and evaluating international emergency and development programs in Africa and the Middle East, often in collaboration with European
Union and United Nations agencies. Dr. Silvestri also teaches several courses on project
cycle management and development cooperation at the Catholic University of Milan
and the University of Bergamo.
Padre Thomas D. Williams, L.C.
P. Thomas Williams è Professore di teologia al Pontificio Ateneo Regina Apostolorum
di Roma, dove insegna teologia morale e dottrina sociale cattolica. Egli è, inoltre, consulente del network televisivo statunitense CBS per questioni relative agli affari vaticani.
Ha studiato Economia e Commercio presso la University of Michigan, Lettere antiche e

Father Thomas D. Williams, L.C.
Fr. Thomas Williams is professor of theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, where he teaches moral theology and Catholic social doctrine. He
also serves as consultant on Vatican affairs for the CBS television network. Fr. Williams
studied business administration and managerial economics at the University of Michigan, ancient and modern languages in Salamanca (Spain) and received both a license in
philosophy and a doctorate in moral theology from Regina Apostolorum. Fr. Williams
has authored numerous books and articles on theological topics, including Who Is My
Neighbor? Personalism and the Foundations of Human Rights, and the recently-published Spiritual Progress.
