If in your home country admission to University-level studies is subject to a special exam (e.g. Selectividad in Spain;
Prova de Aferiçao or Prova Geral de Acesso ao Ensino Superior in Portugal; Gao Kao in China),
you must give evidence to have passed such selection with the required scores.
Please note that the entry requirements are based on the guidelines for admission published every year in March by the Italian Ministry for
Education. The latest version is available at this link: “Norme per l’accesso degli studenti stranieri ai corsi universitari per l’anno accademico
2014-2015” (Circolare del Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca, Protocollo 7802 del 24/03/2014).
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Applicants who did not complete their upper secondary studies from one of the national education systems listed in the pdf “English language
proficiency requirements” (http://www.ucscinternational.it/images/stories/UG_English_language_proficiency_requirements.pdf) will need to
provide one of the following certificates:
 Academic IELTS with a score of at least 6.0;
 TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 80;
 TOEFL Computer Based with a minimum score of 213;
 TOEFL Paper Based with a minimum score of 550;
 First Certificate of English (FCE) with a minimum B Grade or Certificate of Advanced English (CAE).
English Language Certifications will be required upon enrolment.
ADMISSION TEST LOCATIONS
Admission to the 6-year program in Medicine and Surgery is subject exclusively to the evaluation of the admission test that will take place on
January 28, 2015. The minimum score required to pass the test is 35 points out of 100. Candidates may choose to sit the test in one of the 700
international test centers across the world (please refer to Annex B of the Competition Call).
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
The program has a maximum capacity of 52 places divided as follows:
• 30 places reserved to Italian and EU citizens living anywhere and to non-EU citizens legally living in Italy with permesso di soggiorno /
residence permit;
• 20 places reserved to non-EU citizens living abroad;
• 2 places reserved to Chinese citizens participating in the "Marco Polo" Project.
Two final rankings will be produced:
• 30 places reserved to Italian and EU citizens living anywhere and to non-EU citizens legally living in Italy with permesso di soggiorno /
residence permit;
• 20 places reserved to non-EU citizens living abroad.
In both final rankings, in case of a tie the youngest candidate will prevail.

Please pay great attention while filling in the application form, especially the personal data form. The information that will be indicated in
the personal data form is of the utmost importance, so please fill in this area accurately. For any details, refer to our Competition Call
document for the Medicine and Surgery Degree Course – A. Y. 2015/2016.

APPLY ONLINE
Follow carefully the application instructions.
Make sure you upload or send all the requested documents. At this stage, documents do not require Italian translation if they are
issued in English, French, Portuguese or Spanish.

Upon submission of your application to the admission test you will receive an email confirming we have received your application.
The admission team will screen your application and check whether you have completed (or are in the process of completing) at least
12 years of general schooling; if so you will receive another email asking you to complete your application to the admission test by
paying 160 € (you will be provided with an online credit card payment link / bank transfer details) and by selecting your preferred test
location. Note: your application will not be considered complete until confirmed receipt of your payment.

You will receive follow up e-mails regarding the admission test that will take place on January 28 2015. You will receive admission
feedback on February 10 2015. Should you be admitted you will be requested to pay 4,000 € in order to secure your place in the
program (the deposit will be deducted from the A.Y. 2015/2016 tuition fees).
What to provide upon enrolment








2 passport-size photos;
Copy of your ID or passport;
Only for non-EU students: copy of valid permesso di soggiorno;
Original copy of your high school leaving qualification and its official translation into Italian;
University-entrance certificate (if this applies in your country);
English Language certification (if applicable);
Certificate of vaccination for hepatitis B;
Certificate of Mantoux-technique tuberculosis test;

Dichiarazione di Valore (see below for a definition).
Please note: all the documents and deadlines concerning the application and enrolment procedures are listed in the Competition Call, so
applicants are warmly invited to read carefully the Competition Call published on the website http://roma.unicatt.it/.
The Dichiarazione di Valore (DV) is an official document which provides a short description of your qualification, its validity in the awarding
country to academic and/or professional ends, and the legal status of the awarding institution.
PLEASE NOTE: The DV is issued by the Embassy of the country educational system that awarded the qualification. For example, if you live in
Ghana but you have studied in a British school, you should refer to the Italian Embassy in the UK.
Remember that:
1. your high school qualification has to be legalized by the competent authorities in your country before you go to the Italian
Embassy to request the DV. If your country signed the La Haye Convention of 05/10/1961, the competent authorities will issue
the Apostille on your qualification. If you studied in Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Germany, Austria or Estonia legalisation
of documents is not required according to international agreements.
2. your high school qualification has to be officially translated into Italian before you go to the Italian Embassy to request the DV.

HIGH SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS THAT NEED TO SATISFY ADDITIONAL CRITERIA

Qualifications obtained after 11 or 10 years of global schooling
These qualifications do not allow access to Italian universities, unless:
you attended one (in case of 11 years) or two (in case of 10 years) years at any university and took all the exams included in the
relevant study plan; or
you can give evidence that you attended a pre-school year (this usually applies to some Latin American countries). The pre-school
year can be taken into consideration only if its attendance was compulsory, and its syllabus included development of reading and
writing skills in the mother tongue.
US High School Diploma
Students holding a US High School Diploma must additionally have earned at least 3 Advanced Placements (APs) in as many subjects
related to the degree course of their choice. Università Cattolica code at College Board is 7414.
British qualifications
The British high school qualifications allow access to Italian universities if they certify at least 6 “passed” in different subjects, 3 of
which must be A-level and relevant to the chosen degree course.
Greek qualification “Apolyrion”
It allows entry to Italian Universities only if it scored 10 upon 20. Additionally, students must have passed the “Veveossi Prosvassis”,
unless they graduated before 1999 and can prove that they lived in Italy from 1999 to 2001.

International Baccalaureate (IB)
Before IB results are released, candidates can request to have their transcript of grades sent to Università Cattolica free of charge.

IB diplomas allow direct enrolment in Italian universities if:
they are issued by one of the schools listed in the document called "Allegato 2" published by the MIUR (Italian Ministry for
Education); and
the students followed the study plan described in the “Allegato A” annexed to the “Decreto Ministeriale” (DM) which is written next
to the name of each School in the above mentioned list.
In case requirements a) and b) are not satisfied, the IB is considered a foreign credential. If requirement a) is not satisfied, students
will have to request the legalization of their diploma and the issuing of its "Dichiarazione di valore" to the Italian Embassy in Geneva.
