Wild animals
This is a LION
Wild lions currently exist in Sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia.
Until about 10,000 years ago, the lion was the most
widespread large land mammal after humans. The lion is
a vulnerable species.
Lions live for ten to fourteen years in the wild, while in
captivity they can live longer than twenty years. They
typically inhabit savanna and grassland. Lions are unusually
social compared to other cats. A pride of lions consists of
related females and offspring and a small number of adult
males.
I leoni selvatici esistono attualmente nell'Africa subsahariana e in Asia. Fino a circa 10.000 anni fa, il leone era il
mammifero terrestre di grandi dimensioni più diffuso dopo
l’uomo.
Il
leone
è
una
specie
vulnerabile.
I leoni possono vivere dai dieci ai quattordici anni in natura,
mentre in cattività possono vivere più di venti anni. Di
norma, vivono nelle
savane e praterie. E’ un
animale insolitamente sociale rispetto ad altri gatti. Un
branco di leoni è composto da femmine imparentate, figli e un
piccolo numero di maschi adulti.
This is a TIGER
The tiger is the largest cat species, reaching a total body
length of up to 3.3 metres and weighing up to 306 kg.
Tiger habitats will usually include sufficient cover,
proximity to water, and an abundance of prey. Compared to
the lion, the tiger prefers denser vegetation, for which its
camouflage colouring is ideally suited, and where a single
predator is not at a disadvantage compared with the
multiple felines in a pride
La tigre è il più grande dei felini, raggiungendo una lunghezza
corporea totale fino a 3,3 metri e un peso fino a 306 kg.
L’habitat della tigre include solitamente sufficiente
vegetazione, la vicinanza all'acqua, e l'abbondanza di
prede.
Rispetto
al
leone,
la
tigre
predilige
una vegetazione densa, per cui la sua colorazione mimetica è
ideale.
This is an
ELEPHANT
Elephants are the largest living land animals on Earth
today. The elephant's gestation period is 22 months, the
longest of any land animal. At birth, an elephant calf
typically weighs 105 kilograms. They typically live for 50 to
70 years.
Gli elefanti sono i più grandi animali terrestri viventi sulla
Terra oggi. Il periodo di gestazione dell'elefante è di
22 mesi, il più lungo di qualsiasi animale terrestre. Alla
nascita, un cucciolo di elefante pesa 105 chilogrammi in
genere. Di norma, vivono per 50 a 70 anni.
This is a GIRAFFE
The giraffe is an African even-toed ungulate mammal,
the tallest living terrestrial animal and the largest ruminant.
The giraffe is noted for its extremely long neck and legs. It
stands 5–6 m tall and has an average weight of 1,600 kg for
males and 830 kg for females.
They prefer areas with plenty of acacia trees, which are
important food sources.
La giraffa è un mammifero un africani artiodattilo ungulato,
l'animale terrestre vivente più alto e il più grande dei
ruminanti. La giraffa è nota per il collo e le gambe molto
lunghe. Misura 5-6 m di altezza e ha un peso medio
di 1.600 kg per i maschi e 830 kg per le femmine.
Preferiscono le zone con abbondanza di alberi di acacia, che
sono importanti fonti di cibo.
This is a HIPPOPOTAMUS
The
hippopotamus
is
semi-aquatic,
inhabiting rivers, lakes and mangrove swamps, where
territorial bulls preside over a stretch of river and groups of
5 to 30 females and young. During the day they remain cool by
staying in the water or mud; reproduction and childbirth both
occur in water. They emerge at dusk to graze on grass.
L'ippopotamo è un animale semi-acquatico, che abita in fiumi,
laghi e paludi di mangrovie, dove i maschi presiedono un tratto
di fiume e sono a capo di gruppi da 5 a 30 femmine
e giovani. Durante il giorno rimangono al fresco stando in
acqua o nel fango. La riproduzione e il parto si verificano in
acqua. Essi emergono sulla terraferma al tramonto a
pascolare sull’ erba.
This is a MONKEY
There are about 260 known living species of monkey. Many
are arboreal, although there are species that live primarily
on the ground. Diets differ among the various species but
may contain any of the following: fruit, leaves, seeds, nuts,
flowers, eggs and small animals (including insects and
spiders).
Ci sono circa 260 specie viventi conosciute di scimmia. Molte
sono
arboree,
anche
se
ci
sono
specie
che

This is a ZEBRA
Zebras are African equids
characterized by their
distinctive black and white stripes. Their stripes come in
different patterns unique to each individual. They are
generally social animals that live in small harems to
large herds. Unlike their closest relatives, horses and asses,
zebras have never been truly domesticated.
Le zebre sono equidi africani caratterizzati dal loro distintivo
manto a strisce bianche e nere. Le loro strisce sono disponibili
in diversi modelli, unici per ogni individuo. Esse sono in
genere animali sociali che vivono in harem di piccole o grandi
mandrie. A differenza dei loro parenti più stretti, cavalli
e asini, le zebre non sono mai state veramente addomesticate.
This is a BEAR
Bears are mammals classified as caniforms, or doglike
carnivorans. Although there are only eight living species of
bear, they are widespread, appearing in a wide variety
of habitats the world.
While the polar bear is mostly
carnivorous and the giant panda feeds almost entirely
on bamboo, the remaining six species are omnivorous, with
largely varied diets including both plants and animals.
Gli orsi sono mammiferi classificati come canidi. Anche se
ci sono solo otto specie viventi di orsi, essi sono molto
diffusi, presenti in una grande varietà di habitat del mondo.
Mentre l'orso polare è prevalentemente carnivoro e il panda
