The Library mission is to:
•support clinical research activities by offering access to updated,
evidence based, scientific documentation
•favour the best clinical practice and the choises of patients
•(patient empowerment)
•promote and develope health Information Literacy
•educate health professionals and lay people on the access, selection
and use of good health information
• carry out research and produce publications on issues of medical
information

Continuing Medical Education Courses
Health Information Literacy
Every year our Library organizes
about five interactive CME courses
on electronic information resources
and methodology of search on the
web and on the databases
We held also courses for the nursing
students hosted in our institution
In 2014 we held the first Pilot course
ECDL HealthDoc
Book a librarian is a service for the
education of health professionals
tailored on their information needs
The Patient Library organizes also courses
for patients, caregivers, associations, and
health professionals on the quality of health
information on the Internet and on the trusted
web sites and portals available for lay people.

SICOP, SIRIO, AZALEA
Three projects for patients’ information and
communication: working together in a
multidisciplinary team
We built, as project leader (SICOP, AZALEA), in Italy a
network of patient libraries and information point in cancer
research institutions developing an unique database and a
unique educational model for the personnel working for
delivering the information for patients and their relatives.
AZALEA was the first prototype of a database for cancer
patients in Italy, now CignoWeb.
