“GENERAZIONE CREATIVA”
ARTE IN CORSO: first results of the winning projects presented in
Torino. Thanks to extra funding for the call, eight previously excluded
projects will be included.
Torino,June 2012 - Six months after presenting the results of the
Generazione Creativa call for proposals, the Compagnia di San Paolo
proposes a calendar of events of some of the winning projects. The
programme is called ARTE IN CORSO (ART IN PROGRESS), in Torino
from 21st-27th June and offers the chance to see how the projects are
evolving: this is therefore the first feedback for citizens waiting for the
November appointment in Turin’s contemporary art month, when the spin-offs
of the call will be judged overall as well as the results of every single project.
The twelve winning projects (out of 59 presented) of the call which closed in
July 2011, were presented to the public and the press at a public meeting last
January. A few days ago, on 11th June, the Management Committee of the
Compagnia di San Paolo deliberated a further allocation of
€ 180,000, thus making it possible for the first eight projects excluded
during the initial selection to fulfill their creative ideas. The total
investment for the Generazione Creativa call for proposals comes to just
under € 450,000 (€ 445,400). Of the eight projects included four are in Torino,
two in Cuneo, one in Borgomanero (NO) and one in Omegna (VCO).
Museums are going through a difficult time, but the area’s creative turmoil is
alive and kicking – says Luca Remmert, Vice_Chair of the Compagnia di
San Paolo. Instead of just supporting important local institutions or
giving grants to projects respecting deadlines, through Generazione
Creativa our foundation has chosen to be active in stimulating and
cultivating the potential of the young artistic system, favouring a
consistent and solid development”.
The Compagnia di San Paolo has for several years tried to support young
artistic creativity, recognizing its ability to give young people the chance to
develop and improve, especially in relation to the local context. Consistent
with the foundation’s programmes and the difficult current situation, the call
for proposals awarded extra points to projects about subjects and social
problems in Porta Palazzo in Torino and in the Maddalena area of Genova.

THURSDAY 21ST JUNE

NEW WORDS AND PERSPECTIVES FOR PORTA PALAZZO, by the
Associazione Culturale HoldenArt. Last meeting of the storytelling course of
the Holden School open to the whole area. Participants’ stories will be
given to 4 young creators who will use them as inspiration for works of art
in the area.

THE ART OF MAKING THE DIFFERENCE, by ARTECO. With active
participation from the area’s inhabitants, ideas and opinions on “art and
difference” are welcome: words and pictures will be on show at the “Arte in
Plurale” exhibition as an introduction to the five exhibitions spread over the
area in conclusion of the community involvement program opening in
November.
SATURDAY 23rd JUNE

TORINO UPLOAD & ARCHIMEMORO, by Focus Innovazione Sociale and
Associazione Culturale Banca della Memoria ONLUS. Launch of the
creative mission "Pick a souvenir of Porta Palazzo": each player has to
collect a souvenir of Porta Palazzo (video, audio, photos) and upload it
onto the memory sticks installed in the walls of the area. All the audio-video
material will be included in a special section of the site of Archimemoro
and CriticalCity Upload.

PROGETTO LEONIA, by IZMO. Open workshop with students of the selfconstruction laboratory working on the installation of street furniture.
6:30pm, via Anglesio 25, Quartiere BARCA,
NUOVI COMMITTENTI A BARCA, by a.titolo and in collaboration with
Goethe Institut Turin. Closing party of the self-construction workshop with
salvaged materials, held by the group of Berlinese architects Raumlabor
with young people from the Barca area, aimed at setting up a youth centre.
An incubator for ideas and practices open to participation of students and
young people of the city.
MONDAY 25th JUNE

VIADELLAFUCINA A.I.R., by the Associazione culturale Kanincheh-Haus.
Presentation of the viadellafucina a.i.r. project and the couples of artists
selected to take part in the residence.
WEDNESDAY 27th JUNE

IN RESIDENCE – DESIGN DIALOGUES, by the Associazione In
Residence Design. Presentation of Diary #4_Sense Memory with
contributions on the workshop activity for young designers which took place
in 2011.
