The Mediterranean sea flows through three continent (Europe, Asia, Africa); it is a territory in which North/South, East/West converge and collide. It is a wideness of dialogues and wars, pacific coexistences and conquests, imperialisms and nationalisms. This dynamism is also presented in different ways, depending on the historical and methodological perspective. To better analyze all these aspects, "Persistenze o Rimozioni" launched a call for papers for its VI annual conference: "Mediterranean sea: a fluid territory”. The conference is part of a multi-years project of studies on contemporary age and aims to analyze Mediterranean sea with an interdisciplinary approach among History, Literature, Political Science and Economics. As every year, “Persistenze o Rimozioni” wants to help young researchers in presenting themselves and their studies and offer them important occasions of meeting and discussing with older generations of researchers and professors. We would like especially to encourage PhD students and researchers at early stage of their careers to submit proposals addressing: 1) Political area: The Mediterranean Sea is a territory for political projects of Mediterranean Union; we invites papers that examine the strategic role played in the nation and international alliances and organizations (such as Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean founded in 2005 and l’Union pour la Méditérrannée launched in Paris in 2008). 2) Economic area: We are open to proposal that examine any of these aspect: mobility, migrations, transport, tourism and territory as economic resource; energy, environmental supportability and natural resources, cities and harbors. 3) Historical area: Mediterranean Sea as historical scenario; historiographic patterns. 4) Cultural area: Convergences and collisions among cultures; Mediterranean sea as cultural melting pot, territory for a common culture. 5) Literary area: Textual representation and elaboration – both narrative and poetic – of Mediterranean sea and Mediterranean countries; relations between authors, publications (books and reviews) and sea, with particular regards to languages and dialects as vehicles of culture and identities.
