Dear IS Modena families,
Another fantastic school year has come to its final week of school!
Thank you IS Modena students for making every single day of this school year a special and unique
learning journey! Students bring energy and excitement to every lesson and we learn as much from them
as they do from us!
We cannot forget that our Grade 9 students have begun their Italian State Exam this past Saturday (Terza
Media) and will be involved in exams throughout this week! Good luck Grade 9!
Our international community is always on the move and every end of school year we say farewell to
students, families and some members of staff who are moving on to new professional or personal
experiences.
We take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed to making this year so successful!
Our Educational Staff – Our wonderful team of teachers and learning assistants, who have again earned
the respect and recognition of families for their enthusiasm and vision as educators and role models.
It is always with a little sadness that we say goodbye to colleagues who have been important partners in
our educational journey. We extend thanks to all those who have shared knowledge and skills with our
students and helped to give IS Modena the high standards and international mindset of which we are
proud.
This June we would like to extend a special thank you to: Mr Phil Bateman, Ms Amie Hooper, Mr Anthony
Rahman and Ms Hannah Whittington. We wish all of them the best on their new professional and/or
personal experiences.
We are also pleased to announce that Ms. Nina Grandi is well and on maternity leave.
Our Management, Administrative and Support Staff – Our Board of Directors, administrative team, Elisa,
Silvia, Luigi and our cleaning team. Their roles are not always in the public eye but their energy is what
keeps IS Modena running and ensures our long-term viability.
Our Parents – Thanks for giving us the privilege of educating your children and for joining in so many
activities with enthusiasm and passion. Your support is a key factor in every success!!
Our PTA and Class Representatives – We rely on the particular dedication of these parents who work
tirelessly to promote learning and contribute to the IS Modena spirit and sense of community.
We hope you can all look back on the last ten months with many happy memories and experiences – and
most of all with the pleasure of having learned new skills, knowledge and understanding from the
opportunities we have provided at IS Modena.

Gent.me famiglie IS Modena,
Un altro straordinario anno scolastico è ormai giunto alla sua ultima settimana!
Ringraziamo gli studenti di IS Modena per aver reso ogni singolo giorno di quest’anno un viaggio speciale
e unico nell’apprendimento! Gli studenti portano energia e entusiasmo ad ogni lezione e noi impariamo da
loro tanto quanto loro imparano da noi.
Non possiamo tralasciare che i ns. studenti di Grade 9 hanno iniziato gli esami di Terza Media questo
sabato e saranno impegnati per tutta la settimana! In bocca al lupo Grade 9!
La nostra comunità internazionale è sempre in movimento, e alla fine di ogni anno scolastico dobbiamo
salutare studenti, famiglie e membri dello staff che stanno per affrontare nuove esperienze lavorative e/o
personali.
Cogliamo l’occasione per ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno contribuito al successo dell’anno appena
trascorso!!
Il nostro staff docente – un meraviglioso gruppo di insegnanti e assistenti, che ha guadagnato la stima e il
rispetto delle famiglie per il proprio entusiasmo e per la propria visione in quanto educatori e modelli da
seguire.
È sempre con un poco di tristezza che salutiamo i colleghi che si sono dimostrati partners importanti nel
nostro viaggio educativo. Vogliamo ringraziare chi ha condiviso le proprie conoscenze e capacità con i
nostri studenti, aiutando IS Modena a raggiungere standard elevati e una mentalità internazionale di cui
andiamo molto fieri.
Questo giugno vorremmo ringraziare in particolare: Mr Phil Bateman, Ms Amie Hooper, Mr Anthony
Rahman e Ms Hannah Whittington. A tutti loro vanno i nostri migliori auguri per il loro futuro professionale
e/o personale.
Siamo inoltre lieti di annunciarvi che Ms. Nina Grandi è in dolce attesa e tutto prosegue bene.
Il nostro management, staff amministrativo e di supporto - il nostro Consiglio di Amministrazione, il team
amministrativo, Elisa, Silvia, Luigi e gli addetti alle pulizie. I loro ruoli non sono spesso visibili ma la loro
energia è quanto contribuisce al funzionamento di IS Modena e assicura l’attività a lungo termine.
I nostri genitori – grazie per averci concesso il privilegio di educare i vostri figli e per aver partecipato alle
numerose attività con tanto entusiasmo e passione. Il vostro supporto è la chiave di ogni successo!
Il nostro PTA e Rappresentanti di classe - ci affidiamo al particolare impegno di quei genitori che lavorano
incessantemente per promuovere l’apprendimento e il senso di comunità qui a IS Modena.
Ci auguriamo che voi tutti possiate guardare ai 10 mesi trascorsi come a un bagaglio di esperienze e ricordi
felici – e soprattutto con la piacevole consapevolezza di avere acquisito nuove abilità, conoscenze e una
maggiore comprensione grazie alle opportunità offerte da IS Modena.

Silent Art Auction
The Student Council has organized an amazing silent auction which will be held during the End of the
Year Celebration on Thursday, June 19th. There will be a variety of art works designed by students
which have been made at home or during Ms Chesterman’s fantastic art club.
You can bid as often as you like (each bid needs to increase by 1 euro or more) and the money raised
will be donated through the “Fondazione Wanda e Francesco Formiga” to one of the schools affected
by the recent flooding, tornadoes and earthquakes.
When to bid: Thursday during the End of Year Celebration. Bidding closes at 8pm.
Payment and pick-up: You will be notified if you win and payments can be made Friday 20th, Monday
23rd, Tuesday 24th, or at the latest, Wednesday 25th.
We hope that you enjoy participating!

L’asta d’arte silenziosa
Il Consiglio Studentesco ha organizzato una fantastica asta silenziosa che sarà tenuta durante la festa di
fine anno, giovedì 19 giugno. Ci saranno molte opere d’arte create dai nostri studenti a casa o durante il
molto ambito club di arte di Ms Chesterman.
Per ogni opera potete fare più di un’offerta (ogni vostra offerta deve superare la precedente di un euro
o più) e i fondi raccolti saranno devoluti, attraverso la «Fondazione Wanda e Francesco Formiga», ad
una delle scuole del territorio colpite dai recenti allagamenti, tornado e terremoti.
Quando fare l’offerta: giovedì durante la festa di fine anno. Le offerte si chiudono alle 20.
Pagamento e ritiro: sarete informati di eventuali vincite e i pagamenti li potrete effettuare venerdì 20,
martedì 23, giovedì 24 o al più tardi mercoledì 25.
Speriamo vi divertiate a partecipare!

End of Year Celebration
Thursday, June 19th from 18:30
All students and families are encouraged to attend our Annual End of Year Celebration but please do not
arrive before 18:15 because we’ll still be setting up for the evening.
Performances will start at 18:30 sharp!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUNG CHILDREN AND TODDLERS ARE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES.
All students will perform on the evening followed by refreshments and nibbles!
We hope to see all of you there for this special evening.
Celebrazioni di fine anno

Tutti gli studenti e famiglie sono invitati a partecipare alle Celebrazioni di fine anno. Vi preghiamo di non
arrivare prima della 18:15 in quanto saremo ancora impegnati nella preparazione per la serata.
Le performance inizieranno alle 18:30 in punto!
I BAMBINI PICCOLI DOVRANNO ESSERE CONSTANTEMENTE SOTTO LA SUPERVISIONE DEI GENITORI.
Tutti gli studenti parteciperanno nelle performance e la serata si concluderà con un rinfresco e
stuzzichini!
Ci auguriamo di vedervi numerosi per questa serata speciale.
SCHOOL UNIFORM & THE SUN - THE HEAT HAS ARRIVED!
Please remember: to put sun cream on your children or give
them some to keep at school and make sure they have a hat.
Students can wear our white PE shirt instead of the blue shirt on hot days. Also please ensure that your children
are wearing appropriate shoes (flip-flops/thongs can be dangerous when moving around the school).
Shorts: students can wear shorts to school during the hot weather but they should be dark/blue. Shorts should
also be of an appropriate length (mid-thigh), even with leggings underneath. Hot pants are not appropriate in
the school setting.
UNIFORME SCOLASTICA & SOLE – IL CALDO E’ ARRIVATO!
Ricordatevi di applicare la crema solare ai vostri figli o di darne loro una confezione da portare a scuola e
assicuratevi che abbiano con sé un cappellino.
Gli studenti possono indossare la nostra t-shirt bianca da ginnastica invece della classica polo blu nei giorni più
caldi. Fate anche in modo che i bambini indossino scarpe adatte (le infradito possono essere pericolose quando
camminano in giro per la scuola).
Shorts: gli studenti possono indossare pantaloncini corti quando fa caldo, a patto che siano blu o neri. Inoltre i
pantaloncini devono essere di lunghezza appropriata (a metà coscia) anche se indossati sui leggings. Gli “hot
pants” non sono indumenti appropriati per scuola.
