48 SUNDAY From the Artist… “Fifteen years ago I came across a beautiful print that captivated my imagination and stirred up my creative soul. I saw the print at my grandfather’s home for the very first time. No one in my family could tell me where it came from, where it was found, and why it was there. Looking closely at the print I could not see an artist’s signature or even a number identification. As I looked at the print more intensely, I was awe struck by the background beauty of the sky, the gentle ocean waves, and the dominate stance of the three crosses in the foreground. The original print was approximately 8x10 in size, encased in a black frame and located in a small guest room next to a window facing the backyard of my grandfather’s home. I decided that very day to recreate the print on a large scale canvas. The shroud of Jesus can be seen hanging on the center cross as a sign of the glory of Christ. The multi-coloured sky serves as a backdrop as the storm breaks and the light is able to penetrate through the darkness. The inspiration is achieved by all of nature’s elements fusing together in perfect unison revealing God’s creation. My hope is that the light shine through us all this Easter Season” John Coscarelli MAINTENANCE COLLECTION Today’s 2nd collection will be taken up for the monthly maintenance of our church.
