Tempo di bilanci per i bikers all’indomani dei mondiali marathon di Vilabassa, Italia, Alta Pusteria. L’atteso
pluricampione del mondo ed olimpico Miguel Martinez si è trovato tagliato fuori dai giochi già al 40° chilometro. E’ quindi
stata una corsa tutta in salita per il francese, una rincorsa estrema ed alla fine impossibile nei confronti del belga
Paulissen e della nazionale Svizzera capitanata dal neo iridato del cross country Chris Sauser e dalla medaglia di bronzo
Huber. Nonostante la giornata nera anche sotto il profilo psicolog ico, Martinez ha voluto onorare il mondiale portando a
termine la gara in 25. posizione a quasi 25 minuti dal vincitore. Molta sfortuna anche per l’altro alfiere di Amore & Vita
McDonald’s, il canadese Cortes, che è stato costretto al ritiro dopo circa metà corsa per la rottura del cambio e della
catena. Ora il team proseguirà con gli appuntamenti su strada: il più vicino domenica 13 luglio al Giro del Medio Brenta.
Una gara che nel 2003 vide lo strapotere proprio dell’Amore & Vita con la vittoria del polacco Niemiec ed il 2° posto di
Tim Jones.
Anche in casa InfoTre-Lee Cougan c’è un po’ di delusione dopo Villabassa nonostante il podio “virtuale” di Catriel Soto. ,
Jhon Jairo Botero è stato il migliore, chiudendo al 48° posto, seguito dal meno atteso della giornata, l’argentino Catriel
Soto specialista nel cross country ed alla prima esperienza nel marathon, 2° Under 23. Male Paolo Montoya (3° posto
Under 23 nel 2007), e Rodolfo Torres, quest’ultimo bersagliato dalle forature, che potevano lottare con i migliori.
Tornando all’attività su strada il Team Katay è impegnato in Ungheria per una breve gara a tappe. Non fa parte della
spedizione Quadranti che non ha recuperato dopo l'
influenza della scorsa settimana. Insieme a Salutini ed al team
manager Iacovozzi, quindi, saranno in gara Autka, De Nobile, Loria, Machado, Masnata, Richeze, Torosantucci e
Zampilli.
GIRLS - Ormai non finisce più di stupire. Alla
vigilia delle Olimpiadi di Pechino, anche in pista
come su strada la quasi 50enne Jeannie Longo
continua a inanellare successi e titoli:

intramontabile campionessa francese si è
aggiudicata il titolo nazionale nella prova
dell'
inseguimento. Per la Longo (campionessa
olimpica nel 1996), si tratta del 55° titolo
nazionale in carriera. A Pechino, la formidabile
francese chioccia del Team Pro Feminin Les
Carroz prenderà parte per la settima volta ai
Giochi Olimpici e correrà entrambe le prove su
strada, sia quella in linea che quella a
cronometro, nelle quali si è laureata
campionessa nazionale a fine giugno a Semur
en Auxois.
Intanto in questi giorni un’altra testimonial Selle
SMP, la sprinter tedesca Regina Schleicher
punta del Nurnberger Versicherung, sta
correndo il Giro d’Italia che termina domenica
13 luglio.

There comes the time of balance after the world marathon of Villabassa, Italy, Alta Pusteria. Miguel Martinez, the so

hasn’t recovered from the influenza of last week yet, is not participating in this expedition. Therefore, together with
Salutini and the team manager Iacovozzi, there will take part in this race Autka, De Nobile, Loria, Machado, Masnata,
Richeze, Torosantucci and Zampilli as well.
GIRLS- She never stops to amaze us. On the eve of the Olympics in Beijing, both on the track and on the road, the
