He earned the M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering and the Ph.D. degree in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where he holds the course for undergraduate students “Dynamics and Control of Chemical Processes” and “Process Calculations for the Chemical Engineer”. Italian delegate at the Computer Aided Process Engineering (CAPE) Working Party of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) and the Italian representative at the EFCE General Assembly for the Italian Association of Chemical Engineering (AIDIC), he is active in the field of modeling, control, simulation and optimization of chemical (bio)processes (CAPE topics), leading the Sustainable Process Engineering Research (SuPER, www.super.chem.polimi.it) team and currently supervising 8 post-‐doc/Ph.D. students and 22 M.Sc. thesis students. About Ph.D. student supervision, he is the responsible for the double Ph.D. programme with Purdue University (USA) and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). He is also the Politecnico di Milano Rector’s delegate for the interactions with Campinas University (Brazil) on biorefineries and the responsible for the bilateral agreements with University of Bradford (UK), University of Pannonia (Hungary) and University of Bahia Blanca (Argentina). He published more than 120 papers indexed by Scopus on peer-‐reviewed journals and well-‐established international conferences, along with a series of 5 books titled “… for the Chemical Engineer” edited by Wiley-‐ VCH on modeling and optimization of chemical plants. He co-‐authored a chapter of the 5th Edition of Kirk-‐ Othmer Encyclopedia by John Wiley and Sons. He is the scientific coordinator of several public/private funded projects, including two projects awarded by Fondazione CARIPLO (Biorefinery Integrated Lombardy Labs and Biorevaluation of Mantova Chemical District) with the activation of about 10 grants for Ph.D. and post-‐doc students in the last years. He supervised more than 30 industrial projects on CAPE topics, he is the promoter and director of the industrial cluster REINFORCE (Renewable Energy and INtensification FOR Chemical processes, www.reinforce.polimi.it) with 34 partners and he patented 5 novel processes for the exploitation of renewable energy, for the production of synthesis gas and for the utilization of CO2. In free time, he is active UEFA licensed coach. Contacts: Address: Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, 32 -‐ I-‐20133 Milano, ITALY E-‐mail: [email protected] Tel: IT +39 (0)2.2399.3273 – DE +49 (0)30 314 26905
