Un viaggio che parte da lontano. Nel tempo e nello spazio. Dagli angoli remoti di
quello che i romani chiamavano Mare Nostrum, il mare dai mille approdi e dalle
infinite isole. Il Mar Mediterraneo, culla della civiltà europea, luogo di incontro e di
scambio. Un luogo fisico e mitologico intriso di storia.
Nelle stive delle navi che nei secoli lo hanno solcato viaggiavano spezie, stoffe
pregiate e ogni genere di ricchezza. Si diffondevano così anche le maioliche greche,
fenicie, nordafricane, siciliane, napoletane. Vasi, piatti, orci e anfore che parlano
per immagini e colori, forme e riflessi. Nobili utensili di uso quotidiano che le rotte
marittime hanno raccolto e disperso.

A travel from far away. From the remote corners of what was called Mare Nostrum by
the Romans, the sea with thousand landings and countless isles. The Mediterranean
Sea, the cradle of the European civilization, place of meetings and exchanges. A
mythological place, full of history.
Spices, precious fabrics and any kind of treasure travelled in the holds of the ships
ploughing its waves during the centuries. Greek, Phoenician, North-African, Sicilian
and Neapolitan majolica, too, were spreading in this way. Pots, dishes, jars and
amphora talking with images and colors, shapes and reflections. Noble tools used
daily, collected and scattered by winds and sea courses.

Un voyage qui part de loin. Des angles lointains de ce que les romains appelaient
Mare Nostrum, la mer aux mille abords et aux îles infinies. La Mer Méditerranée,
berceau de la civilisation européenne, lieu de rencontre et d’échange. Un lieu
mythologique, imprégné d’histoire.
Dans les cales des navires qui au fil des siècles l’ont sillonnée, des épices, des étoffes
de valeur et tout autre genre de richesse voyageaient. Ainsi, les maïoliques grecques,
phéniciennes, nord-africaines, siciliennes, napolitaines se diffusaient elles aussi. Des
vases, des assiettes, des jarres et des amphores qui parlent grâce à leurs images et
couleurs, à leurs formes et reflets. De nobles ustensiles d’usage quotidien que les vents
et les routes maritimes ont recueilli et dispersé.

Das Mittelmeer, die Wiege der europäischen Kultur, Ort für das Zusammentreffen
und den Handelsverkehr. Ein mythologischer Ort voller Geschichte.
In den Schiffsräumen, die es während der Jahrhunderte durchfurchten, wurden
Gewürze, kostbare Stoffe und andere Schätze transportiert. Majolika aus
Griechenland, Phönix, Nordafrika, Sizilien und Neapel wurden so verbreitet. Vasen,
Teller, Krüge und Amphoren bestechen durch Aussehen, Farben, Formen und Reflexe.
Nobles Alltagswerkzeug, das vom Wind über die Seewege gesammelt und wieder
zerstreut wurde.
