Il progetto Eurotex ID si propone di esplorare il potenziale
degli archivi di musei e centri di documentazione tessili
europei attraverso la collaborazione con le scuole di
settore per la produzione di abiti, tessuti ed accessori ad
alto valore aggiunto culturale e di innovazione.
Attraverso interventi e testimonianze d’eccellenza, la
conferenza conclusiva del progetto Eurotex ID esplora il
valore degli archivi storici nella produzione contemporanea
di moda e design e il valore aggiunto rappresentato dalla
collaborazione tra giovani designer e aziende come risorsa
creativa per lo sviluppo di nuove collezioni.
Il programma della giornata è organizzato in tre sessioni:
Obiettivo dei due anni di attività [2008-2010] è stato
lo sviluppo sperimentale di una piattaforma di lavoro
attraverso la quale il patrimonio dei musei ha ispirato
la creatività di un gruppo di giovani stilisti e designer
incoraggiandoli a reinterpretare stili e disegni del passato
in chiave contemporanea e a rivitalizzarli con originalità.
ARCHIVES
Grazie ad un database tessile, gli studenti hanno
visionato campioni del XIX e XX secolo conservati nei
musei partecipanti da cui hanno sviluppato progetti di
arredamento e abbigliamento. Scambiandosi idee ed
esperienze in occasione di quattro visite di studio, gli
studenti hanno trasformato i propri progetti in veri e
propri prototipi per portarli all’attenzione di un pubblico
internazionale.

I giovani e le aziende di moda: dal mondo
della formazione a quello della produzione,
che prevede la presentazione di significative iniziative
ed opportunità rivolte ai giovani sui temi del design
di moda e della creatività

La mostra
Heritage@work
L’esposizione affianca i tessuti e gli abiti realizzati
dagli studenti delle scuole Escola Profissional Cenatex
(Guimarães, PT) e Winchester School of Art (Winchester,
UK) ai reperti del patrimonio tessile a cui i giovani
designer si sono ispirati. La mostra rimarrà aperta al
pubblico fino al termine del progetto.

The aim of the Eurotex ID project has been to harness
the potential of the archives of European museums and
documentation centres by working together with fashion and
design schools in order to create highly innovative clothing,
textiles and accessories with the added value of a conspicuous
cultural content.
The aim of the closing conference of the Eurotex ID project
is to examine the ways in which historic archives can be
exploited in the creation of contemporary fashions and
designs and to assess the added value brought to fashion
design when collaboration between young designers and
textile companies is seen as a creative resource for the
development of new collections.
The two year project [2008-2010] has thus developed and
tested a platform to encourage young designers to draw
inspiration from the textile heritage of various museums
and documentation centres in Europe and consequently to
reinterpret and revitalize the styles and patterns of the past in
a modern and highly original key.

C R E ATT I V I T Y
The young designers’ involvement in the project activities
commenced with the study of various 19th and 20th century
textiles samples conserved in the museums participating in
the project by means of a textile database, following which
they were encouraged to develop furnishing and fashion
designs. Opportunities for exchanging ideas and experiences
were provided by four study visits in which the young
designers were able to transform their projects into real and
proper prototypes ready to be brought to the attention of an
international audience.

The exhibition
Heritage@work
The exhibition will see the textiles and fashions
created by the students of Escola Profissional Cenatex
(Guimarães, PT) and Winchester School of Art (Winchester,
UK) presented side by side with the items from the textile
heritage by which they were inspired. The exhibition will
remain open to the public until conclusion of the project.
