Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation 2013 - Research Fellow Award.
Description
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) seeks proposals for the MMRF 2013
Research Fellow Award Program, an initiative supporting researchers at the post
doctorate/medical fellow or junior faculty levels working under the supervision or guidance of a
research mentor in the multiple myeloma field.
Amount
Proposals may request up to $75,000 total costs, including up to 10% indirect costs, for a one
(1) year period.
Applications for the MMRF 2013 Research Fellow Award Program are solicited from
investigators at academic, not-for-profit, institutions.
You must be a researcher who holds a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree and has less than 5
years of experience from the highest degree obtained.
Eligibility
Post-doctorate and medical fellows applying for the award must work under the supervision
of a research mentor in the multiple myeloma field.
Investigators at the level of assistant professor who are beginning studies in the multiple
myeloma field and are thereby applying for this award must have a research sponsor at their
institution who is in the multiple myeloma field and can provide guidance to the applicant in
the area of the project proposed.

Associazione Italiana Celiachia - Call for Proposals 2013.
The Fondazione Celiachia (FC) is inviting Applications to grant three-years Italian research
projects in the area of celiac disease and gluten associated pathologies.
These grants are intended to:
1. support the research of established and independent scientists, leading an existing
research unit

2. encourage talented young researchers to submit their research proposals.
The scientific activity must be carried out in a non-profit research institution located in Italy
(university, hospital or other research center).
Amount
Grants are for a three-year period, contingent upon the presentation of yearly renewal
requests. Funding applications must not exceed € 100,000 per year.
Applications exceeding € 100,000 per year will not be taken into consideration.
Information
Applicants can be of any nationality. They should have achieved scientific
independence, and they must have a good track record, as demonstrated by primary
research papers (no reviews) in high level peer-reviewed journals.

Applicants must operate in a non-profit Italian Institution for the entire duration of
the grant.

Proposals must have a clear focus on celiac disease and gluten associated pathologies

AACR Outstanding Investigator Award for Breast Cancer Research, funded by
Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
Description
The AACR Outstanding Investigator Award for Breast Cancer Research, funded by Susan G.
Komen for the Cure®, will recognize an investigator whose novel and significant work has had
or may have a far-reaching impact on the etiology, detection, diagnosis, treatment, or
prevention of breast cancer. Such work may involve any discipline across the continuum of
biomedical research, including basic, translational, clinical, and epidemiological studies.
Amount
The recipient of the award will receive a $10,000 honorarium and present a 25minute lecture at the 36th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. The symposium will
be held December 10-14, 2013, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio,
TX.
 All cancer researchers who are affiliated with any institution involved in cancer
research, cancer medicine, or cancer-related biomedical science anywhere in the world
may be nominated. Such institutions include those in academia, industry, or government.
Eligibility
 Candidates must be no more than 50 years of age at the time the Award is received, i.e.
born on or after December 10, 1963.
 The Award will be presented to an individual investigator. Institutions or organizations
are not eligible for the Award

Travel Grant Best of ASCO Meeting – Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles.
Description
ASCO is pleased to offer financial support for ASCO Members in Training* to attend the 2013
Best of ASCO Meeting (Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles).
*ASCO Members in Training membership is free for oncology fellows and oncology
residents. To join ASCO, submit a membership application.
This travel grant is a reimbursement award (up to $600) to assist with expenses associated with
attending the Meeting, including:

The AACR Distinguished Lecture on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities, funded by Susan
G. Komen for the Cure®, recognizes an investigator whose novel and significant work has had

The recipient of the award will receive a $5,000 honorarium and present a 45-minute lecture
at the Sixth Annual AACR Conference on the Science of Cancer Health Disparities in
Racial/Ethnic Minorities and the Medically Underserved. The conference will be held December
6-9, 2013, in Atlanta, GA.
 All cancer researchers who are affiliated with any institution involved in cancer
research, cancer medicine or cancer-related biomedical science anywhere in the world
may be nominated. Such institutions include those in academia, industry or government.
Eligibility
 The award will be presented to an individual investigator. Institutions or organizations
are not eligible for the award.

AACR-Prevent Cancer Foundation Award for Excellence in Cancer Prevention
Research.
Description
The AACR and the Prevent Cancer Foundation are pleased to co-sponsor this major
international award in recognition of outstanding cancer prevention research. The AACRPrevent Cancer Foundation Award for Excellence in Cancer Prevention Research is given to a
scientist residing in any country in the world for his or her seminal contributions to the field of
cancer prevention. Such investigations must have been conducted in basic, translational,
clinical, epidemiological, or behavioral science in cancer prevention research. Further, these
studies must have had not only a major impact on the field, but must also have stimulated new
directions in this important area.
Amount
The recipient of the award will receive a $5,000 honorarium, present a 50-minute lecture at
the 12th Annual AACR International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research.
The conference will be held October 27-30, 2013, in National Harbor, MD. Support will be given
to the recipient and a guest to attend the conference.
 All cancer researchers who are affiliated with any institution involved in cancer research,
cancer medicine, or cancer-related biomedical science anywhere in the world are
eligible. Such institutions include those in academia, industry, or government.
Eligibility
 The award will be presented to an individual investigator. Institutions or organizations
are not eligible for the award.
 Candidates must currently maintain an active research program, have a record of recent
publications, and be able to present the award lecture at the conference.
Deadline

Premio Sapio per la Ricerca Italiana - XIV Edizione.
Descrizione
Il Gruppo Sapio, in accordo con diversi Centri di Ricerca ed Università, istituisce il Premio
Sapio per la Ricerca Italiana per l’anno 2013 con lo scopo di favorire la ricerca in campo
scientifico, tecnologico e socio economico, per il progresso civile e sociale.
I premi sono riservati a rilevanti contributi, anche interdisciplinari, per l’avanzamento della
ricerca in campo tecnico-scientifico e socioeconomico. Tali risultati devono essere conseguiti
nel corso del triennio precedente alla data di pubblicazione del bando di concorso e devono
essere stati svolti ed aver apportato concreti risultati negli ambiti di riferimento.
Le candidature al Premio devono essere presentate e garantite da:
Eleggibilità

Presidenti e Soci effettivi delle maggiori Accademie;
-
Presidi di Facoltà, Direttori di Dipartimento, Professori delle discipline oggetto delle
ricerche candidate o di discipline affini, appartenenti ad Università e Politecnici;

Direttori di Istituti e Centri di Ricerca;
-
Dirigenti di centri di ricerca aziendali;
-
Dirigenti d’azienda.
Non saranno prese in considerazione autocandidature. Possono essere accettate candidature
già presentate nelle passate edizioni.
Per la 14esima edizione del Premio sono assegnati 3 premi, ciascuno per un importo in denaro
pari a 15.000 Euro, suddivisi in 3 sezioni:
1. Sezione Medicina, Biotecnologie e Salute
Il Premio viene conferito a un ricercatore impegnato nell’ambito sanità, biotecnologie,
salute e sociale.
2. Sezione Industria
Il Premio viene assegnato a un ricercatore impegnato nella Ricerca applicata.
Budget
3. Sezione Junior
Il Premio viene assegnato a un ricercatore che non abbia ancora compiuto il 36° anno
d’età al 31/12/2013 e che si sia contraddistinto per attività di Ricerca nel nostro Paese
oppure in un Paese straniero purché dimostri che nel frattempo è rientrato in Italia o
che rientrerà entro il 31/12/2013 per continuare i suoi studi nel nostro Paese.
In questa sezione sono ammessi tutti gli ambiti della Ricerca.

FP7-PEOPLE-2013 - Marie Curie Actions - Research Fellowship Programme
Nell’ambito del programma FP7-PEOPLE-2013 la Commissione europea invita a presentare proposte per le
Marie Curie Actions, i bandi per la formazione continua e lo sviluppo della carriera dei ricercatori.
Si tratta di tre diverse tipologie:
1. borse intraeuropee per lo sviluppo della carriera (Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development IEF);
2. borse internazionali in uscita per lo sviluppo della carriera (International Outgoing Fellowships for
Career Development - IOF);
3. borse internazionali di accoglienza (International Incoming Fellowships - IIF).

FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IOF: borse di studio internazionali per ricercatori che si recano all'estero
Azione diretta ad aumentare la dimensione internazionale della carriera dei ricercatori europei dando
loro l'opportunità di essere formati e di acquisire nuove conoscenze in un'organizzazione di ricerca di
elevato livello in un paese terzo.




