Its name comes from the Italian word “filanda” which was a factory where women spun cotton and silk. In fact the building had been used in this way since the second half of the 19th century. Then the structure was renovated, in 1992 when the High school moved here. Today you can see the particular windows and the chimney standing outside that symbolize the origin of the building. Liceo “Le Filandiere” is a state school. Students can choose different courses: science, computer, languages and classical courses. In our school there are a lot of rooms: 3 science laboratories, 2 computer rooms, a school library, a big gym and a big auditorium. Now the number of students has increased, therefore the fourth year classes attend lessons in another building nearby. The school is opposite the bus station and the train station, so it is easy to reach.
