This Concert was finished, according to Mozart's own catalogue, in March 1786, around the time of the premiere of his opera, “The Marriage of Figaro”. Scored for piano solo and an orchestra, it was one of three subscription concerts given that spring and was probably played by Mozart himself at one of these. The rest of the programme foresees the symphony from Rossini’s “Silken Ladder” and Haydn’s “Sinfonia Concertante” n. 105. It’s a special occasion, not only because it celebrates Pollini’s incredible lifelong career of artistic excellency, but also because all proceeds go to Umberto Veronesi’s Foundation for scientific research.
