Words cannot express the Society’s
appreciation for the fantastic effort by our
volunteers at this year’s Carnevale at the
Adelaide Showgrounds on the weekend of
February 7 and 8.

Hanno dimostrato lo Spirito che ha portato la
Societa` a fare cosi tanto nel corso degli ultimi
55 anni.
They have shown the Spirit with which the
Society has achieved so much in the last 55
years.

I will leave the details to Felicia’s report, but I
wish to remind all the volunteers that in May we
will hold a Special Celebration and lunch for
them on the occasion of the May Feast of Saint
Hilarion. I urge all you volunteers to attend as
there will be a big surprise for you all.

far ricordare ai volontari che, a maggio, avrem
un Festeggiamento e pranzo Speciale per loro
in occasione della Festa di Maggio di
Sant’Ilarione. Raccomando a tutti i volontari di
venire perche` ci sara` una grande sorpresa
per tutti.
There is a special attachment to this
newsletter. At the Italian launch of our book
“Caulonia in the Heart” the Mayor of Caulonia
invited the Society to send a youth delegation
to visit the place of birth of their parents and
grandparents. So, in order to accept this
invitation we have included a leaflet for families
to express their interest in naming a member
of their family to take part in the group.
C’e` allegato particolare a questo giornalino. Al
lancio italiano del nostro libro “Caulonia nel
Cuore” il Sindaco di Caulonia ha invitato la
Societa` a organizzare una gruppo di giovani a
visitare il paese di nascita dei loro genitori e
nonni. Per permetterci di accettare l’invito
abbiamo un opuscolo per permettere alle
famiglie di esprimere il loro interesse di dare il
nome di un figlio o figlia a far parte del gruppo.
I urge you to read the leaflet and to name
someone from 18 to 25 to take part in May
2010. I hope that this will bring an enthusiastic
response from you all.
Vi chiedo di leggere attentamente l’opuscolo e
di nominare qualcuno della vostra familgia tra i
18 e i 25 annidi farne parte nel maggio de
2010. Spero che avra` una risposta entusiasta
da voi tutti.

Che fantastico!
What can I say about the volunteers?
Cosa posso dire dei volontari? La vostra voglia
di lavorare non era meno d straordinaria.
Your will to work is nothing short of amazing.
On the Saturday it would have been over 50C
in the tent, yet the volunteers smiled through
the whole day. In one way we were lucky
it wasn't busy, but we still did better than last
year. We all got the chance to walk around,
have a look in the pavilion. Some of us got the
chance to see Joe Avati. I hurt myself from
laughing so much.
Il sabato doveva essere oltre i 50 gradi nella
tenda, eppure i volontari hanno sorriso tutto il
giorno. In un certo senso eravamo fortunati che
non eravamo impegnati al massimo anche se
abbiamo fatto meglio dell’anno scorso.
Abbiamo tutti avuto la possibilita` di fare un
giro del padiglione. Alcuni di noi abbiamo visto
Joe Avati. Io mi sono fatta male dalle risate...
Poi e` arrivata la domenica. Era come essere in
altro posto.
Non ci siamo fermati tutto il giorno!
Potevamo fare zippoli fino a mezzanotte.
La Societa non potra`
abbastanza i volontari.

Un riconoscimento particolare va Pino e Mario
De Guisa che ci hanno tenuto sulla giusta
strada, Pina Chiera e Pina Ierace e la loro

FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
PASSI NELLA SABBIA

Questa notte ho fatto un sogno:
Ho sognato che ho camminato sulla sabbia
accompagnato dal Signore e sullo schermo
della notte erano proiettati tutti i giorni della mia
vita.
Ho guardato indietro e ho visto che ad ogni
giorno della mia vita proiettato nel film
apparivano orme sulla sabbia: una mia e una
del Signore.
Così sono andato avanti, finchè, tutti i miei
giorni si esaurirono. Allora mi fermai guardando
indietro, notando che in certi posti c’era solo
un’orma….
Questi posti coincidevano con i giorni più
difficili della mia vita: i giorni di maggiore
angustia, di maggiore paura e di maggiore
dolore….
Ho domandato allora: Signore, Tu avevi detto
che saresti stato con me in tutti i giorni della
mia vita, ed io ho accettato di vivere con Te, ma
perché, mi hai lasciato solo proprio nei
momenti peggiori della mia vita?
Ed il Signore mi ha risposto: Figlio mio, io ti
amo e ti dissi che sarei stato con te durante
tutta la camminata e che non ti avrei lasciato
solo neppure per un attimo, ebbene non ti ho
lasciato…..
I giorni in cui tu hai visto solo un’orma sulla
sabbia, sono stati i giorni in cui io ti ho portato
in braccio.
One night I dreamed I was walking along the
beach with the LORD.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the
sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that
during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or
defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints,
so I said to the Lord,
"You promised me LORD,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always,
But I have noticed that during the most trying
periods of my life there has only been one set
of footprints in the sand.
"Why, when I needed you most, have you not
been there for me?"
The LORD replied,
"The years when you have seen only one set of
footprints, my child, is when I carried you."
Take comfort in him and he will carry you
through the sorrow!
