The small church
La chiesetta
This was made with 4 big corks,
pasted on a base of polystyrene
painted with tempera.
è realizzata con 4 grossi tappi,
incollata su una base di
polistirolo dipinto con le tempere.
The tree in bloom is a real small
branch with some small pink
flowers glued on.The flowers
were made out of photocopy
paper and cut out with a punch.
L’albero fiorito è un rametto vero
sul quale sono stati incollati dei
fiorellini di carta per fotocopie
rosa, ritagliati con il punteruolo.
The roof, windows and doors of
the church are made of
cardboard.
Le porte e le finestre della
chiesetta sono di cartoncino.
The chick was bought already
made.
Il pulcino è stato acquistato già
confezionato.

What you need:
Che cosa ti serve:
* indelible felt-pen
* transparent glue
* toothpicks or wooden matches
* pennarelli indelebili
* adesivo trasparente
* stuzzica denti o fiammiferi di
legno
* 1 tappo grande e 2 piccoli
* panno lenci:
verde per i gambi del fiore
rosso per il cravattino
rosa per le mani
giallo, azzurro e bianco: i fiori
* 1 big cork and two small pieces
of woollen cloth:
green for the flower stems
red for the tie
pink for the hands,
yellow, light blue, and white
for the flowers
* a pipe cleaner (from the
tobacconist’s shop) for
the arms
* bottle top with small pendant
chain
* scovolino per pipa, li trovi in
tabaccheria: per le braccia
* tappo da bottiglia con la
catenella di un ciondolo
* punteruolo
* punch
Body:
It’s made from a big cork with
toothpicks pushed in to make the
legs and neck.
Corpo:
è composto dal turacciolo grande
in cui infili gli stuzzica denti per
le gambe e il collo.

Feet:
They are made from a disc of
cork cut in half and painted with
a black felt-pen.
You can cut the cork easily with a
fretsaw. Use a punch to make
the hole for the toothpick,.
Arms:
Make them with two pieces of
pipe cleaner: fig. 1.
Hands:
Their real size is shown in fig. 2.
They are pasted onto the pipe
cleaner and flowers.
Small tie:
Its size is shown in fig. 3.
Flowers:
Make the stem with a strip of
woollen cloth folded in two and
hand-sewn with whipstitching.
The flowers are small discs cut
out using zig zag scissors.
Piedi:
li crei con un dischetto di sughero
tagliato a metà e dipinti con il
pennarello nero.
Il sughero lo tagli facilmente con
il seghetto da traforo e per i
buchi per infilare gli stuzzicadenti
utilizza un punteruolo.
Braccia:
le ottieni con 2 pezzetti di
scovolini da pipa: fig. 1.
Mani:
la loro dimensione reale è data
dalla fig. 2. Esse sono incollate
allo scovolino e ai fiori.
Cravattino:
la sua dimensione è data dalla
fig. 3.
Fiori:
il gambo l’ottieni con una
strisciolina di panno lenci piegata
e cucita a sopraggitto;
I fiori sono dei dischetti ritagliati
con la forbice zig zag.

What you need:

* large used corks and flat
buttons
* grossi tappi anche usati e
bottoni piatti
* filo di ferro del diametro di
mm. 2 o quello usato dai
fioristi per sostenere i fiori
* 2 mm wire or
the wire used in florist’s shops
to hold flowers up
* transparent wood varnish
* vernicetta trasparente per
legno
Use a punch to make holes in the
cork.
The flat buttons are to stop the
wire at the ends: fig. 1.
Per bucare i tappi utilizza un
punteruolo.
I bottoni piatti ti servono per
fermare il filo di ferro alle
estremità : fig. 1

The head:
is glued on at the neck, and the ears are pushed onto the ends of a
piece of wire which is twisted between the head and neck.
La testa
è incollata al collo e le orecchie sono infilate sulle estremità di un
pezzetto di filo di ferro attorcigliato tra la testa e il collo.
The eyes and mouth are two beads
Gli occhi e la bocca sono due perline.
In order to stop the wire of the legs which are twisted at the back
moving, insert some pieces of cork between the spaces and glue
them in place.
Per evitare che il filo di ferro delle gambe, avvolto sul dorso, si
muova, inserisci negli spazi dei pezzetti di sughero e incollali.
What you need:
* solid gluestick
* florist’s wire
* tempera
* woollen thread and raffia for
the hair
Che cosa ti serve:
* colla solida tipo stick
* filo armonico o quello dei
fioristi
* tempere
* lana e rafia per i capelli

Hair:
glue lots of woollen threads 10
cm. long at the height of the
forehead onto the cork which has
already painted in pink: fig. 1.
Bind the woollen threads
together, then lift up the ones
underneath and tie them again
together above the forehead.
Trim the forelock with scissors
and his hair is finished.
Capelli:
incolla sul tappo già dipinto di
rosa carne tanti pezzetti di lana
lunghi cm. 10 all’altezza della
fronte: fig. 1.
Legali e solleva quelli sotto in su
per legarli nuovamente tutti
insieme sopra la fronte.
Regola il ciuffo con le forbici e la
capigliatura è finita.

You can get a round head by
smoothing the cork, first with
coarse sandpaper and then with
fine sandpaper or with files of
different grains.

Puoi ottenere una testa
arrotondata levigando il sughero
con della grossa e poi fine carta
vetrata o con delle lime di
diversa grana.
