Süd-Tiroler sind Deutsche, weil ganz Tirol zum deutschen
Sprach- und Kulturraum gehört, seit es diesen gibt, oder sie
sind Ladiner und gehören damit der ältesten Bevölkerung des
Landes an, die sich immer mit Tirol und Österreich verbunden
gefühlt hat.
Süd-Tiroler sind Österreicher, weil Süd-Tirol mit ganz Tirol
von 1363 bis 1918 zum Reich der Habsburger gehört hat und in
dieser Zeit seine Eigenart und seine beispielhaften Freiheiten
entwickeln konnte.
Süd-Tiroler sind Tiroler, weil die Bildung dieses Landes von
seinem Südteil ausgegangen ist. Schloss Tirol bei Meran hat
dem Land den Namen, das Wappen (Tiroler Adler) und die
Farben (weiß-rot) gegeben, der größte Tiroler Freiheitsheld
Andreas Hofer stammt aus dem südlichen Tirol Süd-Tiroler sind keine Italiener, da Italien ein Nationalstaat
ist und die Süd-Tiroler historisch, sprachlich und kulturell nicht
zur italienischen Nation gehören. Hingegen war unser altes
Österreich ein Vielvölkerstaat, der die Sprache und Kultur aller
seiner Völker respektierte, so dass sich auch italienischsprachige Welsch-Tiroler als Österreicher fühlen konnten.

all’intero Tirolo, ha fatto parte del regno degli Asburgo dal 1363
al 1918 ed in questo periodo ha potuto sviluppare le proprie
peculiarità e le proprie esemplari libertà. I Sud-Tirolesi sono Tirolesi, poiché questo Paese deve le sue
origini proprio alla sua parte più meridionale. Castel Tirolo,
presso Merano, ha dato a questo Paese nome, stemma (l’aquila
tirolese) e colori (binaco-rosso); il più grande eroe tirolese per
la libertà, Andreas Hofer, è originario del Tirolo Meridionale. I Sud-Tirolesi non sono Italiani, in quanto l’Italia è uno stato
nazionale e i Sud-Tirolesi non ne fanno parte per storia, lingua
e cultura. Diversamente dall’Italia la nostra vecchia Austria era
uno stato multietnico, che rispettava lingua e cultura di tutti i
suoi popoli, come dimostra il fatto che anche il Tirolo che parlava italiano (l’attuale Trentino) si sentiva austriaco.

South Tyroleans are Germans, because Tyrol has always
been part of the German language and cultural area, or they
are Ladins and belong therefore to the oldest population of the
country, which always felt connected with Tyrol and Austria.
South Tyroleans are Austrians, because South Tyrol and
the whole of Tyrol were part of the Habsburg Empire from 1363
until 1918, and developed, during this time, its character and its
freedom giving example.
South Tyroleans are Tyroleans, because the formation of this
country proceeded from its southern part. The Castle Tyrol in
Meran gave the name to the country, the coat of arms (Tyrolean
eagle) and the Tyrolean colors (white-red) and its most famed
hero, Andreas Hofer, who comes from the southern part of
Tyrol.
South Tyroleans are not Italians, because Italy is a multi
national state and the South Tyroleans - historically, linguistically and culturally - do not belong to the Italian nation. Our

Zuid-Tirolers zijn Duits, doordat heel Tirol tot het Duitse
taal- en cultuurgebied behoort sinds dit bestaat. Of ze zijn
Ladijns en behoren daarmee tot de oudste bevolkingsgroep van
de provincie, die zich steeds met Tirol en Oostenrijk verbonden
gevoeld hebben.
Zuid-Tirolers zijn Oostenrijkers, doordat Zuid-Tirol als
onderdeel van heel Tirol van 1363 tot 1918 tot het Habsburgse
rijk behoorde en in deze tijd haar bijzondere karakter en haar
exemplarische vrijheden ontwikkelen kon.
Zuid-Tirolers zijn Tirolers, doordat de vorming van Tirol van
haar zuidelijke deel uitging. Schloss Tirol bij Meran heeft de provincie haar naam, haar wapen (Tiroler Adelaar) en haar kleuren
(wit-rood) gegeven. De grootste Tiroler vrijheidsstrijder Andreas
Hofer komt uit Zuid-Tirol.
Zuid-Tirolers zijn geen Italianen, doordat het huidige
Italië zich manifesteert als een natiestaat en de Zuid-Tirolers
historisch, taalkundig en cultureel niet tot de Italiaanse natie
behoren. Daarentegen was het oude Oostenrijk een veelvolkerenstaat waarin de taal en cultuur van al haar volkeren gerespecteerd werden, zodat ook de Italiaanstalige Welsch-Tiroler
(Trentino) zich Oostenrijker konden voelen.
