INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING THE ABSTRACT
Deadline: Abstracts must be RECEIVED in Milan on or before October 15
th
a) The author must indicate the mode of presentation he/she prefers (oral presentation, poster
presentation or no preference). The Scientific Committee of the Research Forum will take this preference
into consideration; however, submittors are obliged to present in the mode assigned even íf their
preference is not honored.
b) Submission of an abstract carries with it the responsibility for the presenter to present the contents of
the abstract IN PERSON. Requests of withdraw papers must be made in writing BY THE PRESENTER
(requests from anyone else will not be honored) and submitted to the Scientific Committee of the
Research Forum. After the program is printed, the paper may not be withdrawn. However, if, after this
date, the presenter finds it impossible to give the paper, the presenter must send written notification with
an explanation and the name of a substitute presenter. The substitute should not already be presenting a
paper on the program, and he/she should be a co-author listed on the abstract.
c) Papers will be selected for the program on the basis of the quality of the work, as judged from the
abstract.
TYPING AND PREPARING THE ABSTRACT
1) Type Requirements:
We suggest that you take a photocopy of the original abstracts form to practice before you fill the original
one. Words must be typed within the confines of the box. Do not type ón the line or outside the box
otherwise the abstract will be refused. Use black ink to write symbols not on printer. Proofread your
abstract carefully. When you are sure the abstract is correct, type the abstract on the original abstract
form. Submit ONLY the completed ORIGINAL abstract form. Additional original abstract form can he
requested directIy from the Scientific Committee (see below).
2) Title:
Limit title to less than 12 words. It should indicate the content of the abstract in a concise manner. Start
title on the first line of dotted box. Put a period after the title.
3) Authors and Institutions:
Starting after the period (following the title), list each author's name in capital letters. Be absolutely
certain that all names are correct. Put an asterisk (*) after the name of the person presenting the paper.
Asterisk only one name per abstract. Institutions must follow the last author's name and should be
enclosed in parenthesis, followed by a period. Addresses may be abbreviated, omitting state or country if
obvious.
4) Abstract Materials:
Start the text on a new line, without indentation, and use entire width of the box.
5) Content of Abstract:
The abstract should contain a brief statement of: (a) the objectives of the investigation; (b) experimental
method used; (e) essential results, (including data and statistics); and (d) conclusions; (e) Grant number (if
any) should also be typed in the box. Do not include illustrations. It is not acceptable to say that results will
be presented and/or discussed.
6) Mailing the Abstract:
Return the abstract form in an envelope (see below for address).
7) Notifications:
After November 10 , all authors will receive notification of acceptance of their abstracts and mode of
presentation, or rejection.

8) Poster presentation:
Detailed information on outline and design of the posters will be enclosed in the letter of acceptance.
