Who we are We are 17,000 men and women who form a cooperative banking group with 1,800 branches. Over the past 150 years, we have become part of the history of the households and businesses in our local areas. 2.6 million people have placed their trust in us. Every day we work for them, helping them make their projects, ideas and aspirations become reality. We are Banco Popolare (the People’s Bank). Why the People’s Bank? “People’s” because we really understand what the households, individuals, businesses, traders, professionals, institutions and associations based in the areas in which we operate want. We know the places and the backgrounds, because they are ours too: the same ones we were established in and grew up with, living through the good and the hard times alike. “People’s” because we provide support to those experiencing social hardship, those that work in the healthcare service and those who are committed to assuring the civil and cultural growth of our cities. We are dedicated to guaranteeing this support constantly through our local foundations and our network of branches. “People’s” because we are a bank for everyone who wishes to become a part of it, as shareholders or members. Their contribution is important. Always. Our background We were established on 1 July 2007 following a large-scale project through which several of the most historically important organisations in the world of people’s credit and savings decided to pool their traditions, expertise and prospects. Today, Banca Popolare di Verona, Banca Popolare di Novara, Banca Popolare di Lodi, Credito Bergamasco, Banco S.Geminiano e S.Prospero, Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Pisa Livorno, Banca Popolare di Cremona, Banca Popolare di Crema, Banco di Chiavari e della Riviera Ligure, Banco San Marco, Banca Popolare del Trentino, Cassa di Risparmio di Imola, Banco Popolare Siciliano and Banca Aletti work together within Banco Popolare and are its driving force. Our mission Carlo Fratta Pasini Chairman Pier Francesco Saviotti Managing Director Guido Castellotti Deputy Chairman Maurizio Comoli Deputy Chairman Maurizio Faroni General Manager Domenico De Angelis Joint General Manager “To serve our private and corporate Customers, by creating stable and sustainable value over time for Members, Shareholders and for Local communities.” Carlo Fratta Pasini Chairman of Banco Popolare Our vocation Our business focuses above all on households, professionals, traders, artisans and small and medium enterprises. We currently work with over 2,000 suppliers mostly located in areas where the Group has its traditional roots, selected with the assistance of the sales network. We have developed strong territorial roots in regions where production output is highest. Our efforts are mainly focused on traditional banking activities. Our multichannel approach means that Customers can manage their own banking needs through their computers, tablets, smartphones, telephones and ATMs, with the remote support of their branch. We are engaged in all of the main activities in the credit and financial sector, at the service of our Customers, whose advice and opinions on how to improve our operations are always welcome, every day. On several occasions, we have intervened to provide assistance to families and businesses that have been affected by natural disasters, by making new loans available to them immediately, to help them overcome a difficult situation or at times a calamity that has hit our local communities. The Foundations The bond between people, families and local businesses is fundamental to us. Each area has different and specific needs. We are able to meet these requirements also thanks to our Foundations. Every year we allocate significant resources to support our local communities. In 2014, we devolved almost 5 million euro to charity activities, 32% of which was dedicated to social and solidarity projects, 29% to promoting culture, 14.4% to protecting artistic and architectural heritage, 10.2% to healthcare, 10% to providing support for education and 3.9% to sport. The Foundations strengthen the bond between the bank and the local community and represent a driving force for the common good. Our “people’s” nature preserves and reinforces the original spirit of service and common ground between members, leading to social accountability and a genuine bond with “our people”. The Banca Popolare di Lodi Foundation, the Banca Popolare di Novara Foundation for the territory, the Credito Bergamasco Foundation, the S.Geminiano e S.Prospero Cult Foundation and the Zanotto Foundation in Verona play this important role in supporting the local community alongside Banco itself.
