Make a sustainable decision means to consider not only the infrastructure life-cycle costs, but also environmental and social impacts: it means to be able to choose a good technical solution, which allows to work with limited resources to achieve the project objectives, balancing competing priorities. Each stakeholder, in fact, is motivated by their own interests. As a result, the perceptions on benefits, priorities and on what constitutes sustainable road infrastructure development vary accordingly. Therefore, to achieve infrastructure sustainability, understanding varying perceptions and needs, integrating them into the design and delivery of road projects becomes crucial at present time.
