It has now become part of the Graduate School of Molecular Sciences and Plant, Food and Environmental Biotechnology applied to the food and the environmental research. Monday, January 18th Tuesday, January 19th Welcome (Maurizio Cocucci, Claudia Sorlini) Plenary lecture 9:00 - VIRGILIO BALMAS “Toxigenic Fusarium species associated with cereals “ Final exam Plenary lecture 10:00 - NICO BOON "Microbial produced nanoparticles for environmental applications" Vivas - 11:00 - ANNALISA BALLOI “Microbial ecology of reductive dechlorination" - 11:45 - FEDERICA VILLA "Hindering deleterious biofilm formation using biocide-free antifouling strategies" 12:30 - Buffet lunch The PhD is characterized by high interdisciplinarity, since a high level activity in this area requires integrated competences, that cover a wide range of knowledge, from chemistry to biology, to agronomy. Plenary lecture 14:00 - CAROLINE GREGOIRE ”Pesticide mitigation in a storm basin collecting runoff from a vineyard catchment area” In these years the PhD has trained a good number of students, also through experiences abroad, who have thereafter continued their activity in industries of this area, in inspective and programming institutions, and in the university or other research centers. Vivas - 15:00 - MARIA ADRIANA NARIO “Modelling the environmental impact of pesticides and soil erosion in vineyards: preliminary results for the Apalta region of Chile” Also this year, the Board of Teachers has decided to admit a wider audience to the final exam, transforming the discussion of the theses and the annual meeting in which the PhD students present their activity in an open workshop, in which experts in the field from institutions or companies operating in this area can participate. The workshop will be opened by scientific lectures presented by International experts in the field, followed by the discussion of the PhD theses of the students.
