IMMAGINI DALLA RICERCA
The Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico and the University of Trieste promote the 6th edition
of the photo contest: ARTE O SCIENZA? IMMAGINI DALLA RICERCA.
The contest is open to students and researchers enrolled in or affiliated to Universities or other
Research Institutes. The photos must be issued within the frame of scientific research in physics,
biology, medicine etc, and must also have an artistic value.
The deadline to apply is May 31th 2015.
OFFICIAL RULES
The contest is open to students and researchers
enrolled in or affiliated to Universities or other
Research Institutes.
In order to enter the contest, participants must
fill in the online entry form, in all its fields, and
follow the instructions for the upload of images
on the contest’s website www.arteoscienza.it (also
accessible through www.immaginarioscientifico.it)
Every participant can submit a maximum of 5 images.
For each image the fields “title” and “description”
must compulsorily be filled.
The field “description” must contain a text not
exceeding 1,000 chrs, spaces included. The text
must explain in a non-technical language the
subject of the image, and give all useful elements
to have an adequate understanding of the scientific
meaning of the image.
The image file must be uploaded into the field
“image” in jpg format; the size of the image must
be 40x20 cm at 300 dpi (dots per inch).
For each field only 1 file can be uploaded.
The weight of each image must not exceed 10 Mb.
Works carried out using photomontage of other
postproduction techniques or digitally retouched will
not be admitted to the contest (no text or graphic
elements may be added to the original picture).
JURY
The Jury will be formed by at least 3 members
among scientists and experts in arts, chosen by
the organization. The Jury members will define
the selection criteria and their decision is to be
considered final.
AWARDS
a) Exhibition
The Jury will select 30 works out of the ones
qualifying according to the contest’s rules. In
autumn 2015, the selected works will be printed
on rigid support and displayed in an exhibition to
be set-up in a convenient public place that will be
chosen by the organizative board.
The works printed on rigid support will remain to
the organizative board, who will be able to use
them for future exhibitions. The original files will
not be returned to the participants and the works’
rights will be acquired by the organization, who
will use them on a non-exclusive basis, for free, for
an indeterminate period, for promotional purposes
related to the contest itself.
b) Prizes
The winning picture will be chosen among the
selected works and will be awarded a monetary
prize of 500.00 €.
The prize will be officially presented during a
public award ceremony.
