The course in Veterinary Medicine represents the necessary and specific curriculum to practice the Veterinary
Profession.
This professional figure will operate either at public or private level working on:
 protection of animal and human health, ensuring animals (food-producing ones in particular) health,
welfare and correct feeding
 safety of food of animal origin and if necessary promotion of the relationship between animals and
human being.
The graduate will achieve the training objectives of the course when he/she will show:
 the exhaustive acquisition of theoretical knowledge derived from basic and characterizing subjects
 the ability to use the acquired knowledge as well as information technology, either in paper or electronic
form, to study in depth chemical and physical methods, of biological concern, both vegetable and
animal, and veterinary anatomy and physiology
 the ability to develop skills in making judgment autonomously on differential diagnosis of clinical and
anatomic-pathological cases, in the treatment and prognosis of diseases, and thereby to alleviate
animal pain and suffering by acquisition of the scientific basis of clinical practice and by practical training
in a high quality clinical and research environment and in structured extramural rotations
 the ability to understand the clinical, ethical and legal obligations of the veterinary profession, required
by the law and expected from the profession by the public
 the ability to be aware of the professional and social issues relating to food safety, public health and
environment protection
