phone number and, when possible, how long you will be
hospitalized. If you are unable to attend Mass, due to
poor health, illness or advanced age, please call so a
Eucharistic Minister can bring Communion to you.
Anointing of the Sick may be requested because of
scheduled surgery or treatment for a life-threatening illness. Call us prior to your surgery or treatment. Anointing
of the Sick at Mass may be celebrated before you go into
the hospital. Directly inform one of our priests or call one
of our Pastoral Administrators.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
There will be barrels in the rear of the Church (on Saturday & Sunday) for donations for the Youth to attend World
Youth Day in Madrid this August. Please be as generous as possible.
There will be two collections on both Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.
We pray for your continued generosity.
The Annual Diocesan Support Appeal will be starting up again shortly. Our Assigned Goal is $71,000.

LENTEN REGULATIONS
FASTING:
All Catholics between the ages 18 and 59 are bound to fast on ASH WEDNESDESDAY and GOOD FRIDAY.
Fasting means limiting oneself to a single full meal and avoiding food between meals. Two very light meals are
permitted.
ABSTINENCE:
All Catholics who have reached their 14th year are bound to ABSTAIN TOTALLY FROM MEAT ALL FRIDAYS
OF LENT.
EASTER DUTY:
After a person has received First Communion, he or she must receive Communion at least once a year, during
the Easter Season. The Easter Season begins with Easter Sunday (April 24th) and continues until Pentecost
Sunday (June 12th).

Spesso hanno minacciato di uccidermi.
Come cristiano devo dire che non credo nella morte
senza resurrezione: se mi uccidono, risorgerò nel
popolo salvadoregno. Lo dico senza superbia, con la
più grande umiltà. In quanto pastore ho l'obbligo, per
divina disposizione, di dare la mia vita per coloro che
amo ossia per tutti i salvadoregni, anche per coloro
che potrebbero assassinarmi. Se le minacce
giungessero a compimento, fin d'ora offro a Dio il mio
sangue per la redenzione del Salvador.
Il martirio è una grazia di Dio che non credo di
meritare. Ma se Dio accetta il sacrificio della mia vita, il
mio sangue sia seme di libertà e segno che la
speranza sarà presto realtà. La mia morte, se Dio
l'accetta, sia per la libertà del mio popolo e sia una
testimonianza di speranza per il futuro.
Può dire anche, se mi uccideranno che perdono e
benedico quelli che lo faranno. Dio voglia che si
convincano di perdere il loro tempo.

Gracias Jesus Salvador nuestro , por tu Corona de espinas. Yo quiero coronarte como Rey

Bensonhurst Cluster of Youth Ministry
Retreats
Save the dates, more information will be coming, or if interested
text, email us, and you can register anytime. We encourage at least
2 weeks prior to secure space and so we can plan accordingly for
the program.
End of the Year Retreat - May 13-14 St. Simon &Jude
14 Hour Retreat has you look at where you are and where you want
to go. Through activities and small group discussions take some
time to see what road you are walking on!
Spring/Summer Retreat - June 8th St. Frances Cabrini
A final three hour retreat night for all youth as they look back and
look ahead, as spring turns into summer.
There will also be several summer opportunities for
retreats and service programs.
Unless stated all programs take place in Brooklyn, NY. Costs are
$10 for 14 hour retreats and $20 for 24 hour retreats. 3 hour retreats
or evening retreats cost the typical $1.00 as the youth center.

Youth Ministry Corner
Cluster Youth Ministry at St. Simon and Jude
Youth Center - every first & third Friday of the
month from 7-9 p.m. in the gym. Join us for basketball, frisbee and the game room, plus a
chance to do service, build community and learn
more about God..
Faith Formation - every second and fourth
Wednesday of month from 7-9 p.m. in the Rectory basement. Join us for networking and connecting with friends and new kids. A place where
we have discussions, activities that help us grow
in our faith and learn more about ourselves, others and God.
Drama Group, Passion Players - meets every
second and fourth Monday from 7-9 p.m. on the
stage in the gym. Join us for acting skills and
improve exercises. This group does perform
short plays, skits throughout the year.
Youth Ministry at St. Frances Cabrini
Youth Center every Tuesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Join us for a safe place to hang out, special activity. Cost $1.00 each week. High School Leadership - SOUL PATROL - every first and third
Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Learn more about being a leader and also be given the opportunities
to develop these skills.
Saturday Youth Program: every First and Third
Saturday from 12-3pm. Music, games, prayer, food
and fun for youth 4-10 years of age. Older youth
can assist and get service hours from 11:30am to
3:30pm Meets at St. A’s.
Youth Mass: every third Sunday of the month at
6pm Come early get involved or join other youth for
upbeat music, and a liturgy geared to, by and for
the young church. Meets at St. A’s.
Bowling Tournament: during Easter break. Get
your teams of 3 together.
Fundraising night: at St. A’s on April 30th - 6:00 in
the Auditorium. Tickets $20. with full course hot
meal, entertainment of Christian band & a chance
to witness the awards of youth & adults on a parish

door for us to meet, know & walk with Christ

The Morning Scripture Reflection & Faith
Sharing Group
Meets every Thursday, after the 9a.m. Mass,
in the Nazareth Institute to discuss the upcoming Sunday's Scriptures. Join Lay Pastoral Leader Joe Barbieri for spirited discussions on next Sunday’s Bible readings.
Charismatic Prayer Group
Meets every Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the
Lower Church.
The St. A’s Scouting Program meets every Wednesday night in the school auditorium at 7:00 p. m. All
boys ages 7-18. Boys and Girls 14-21 can join the
Venturing Crew. Come and learn skills that will last a
lifetime.
Community Outreach Program
Where there is despair, let us bring hope. Volunteers
are needed to serve food to the poor and the homeless on Saturday Mornings. For more information,
