So che non sei abituata ad essere notata, ma quest'anno prometto di considerarti per quel che meriti, un'occasione per alzare l'asticella. Da oggi cominciano i quaranta giorni (che ricordano gli anni di esodo degli ebrei, nel deserto, e i giorni di digiuno e tentazione di Gesù, prima che iniziasse a predicare) che precedono la Pasqua. La festa più importante dei cristiani. No? Beh, così dovrebbe essere! Da oggi iniziano giorni in cui poter, se non seguire i precetti del digiuno ecclesiastico e dell'astinenza dalla carne il venerdì, quantomeno rimettere in discussione le nostre priorità. Provare a riempirci un po' meno di cibo - e di cose materiali in genere - ad ascoltare ciò che abbiamo dentro. E magari scoprire che molte frustrazioni, tristezze e malesseri, ci vengono solo come conseguenza del nostro vivere in modo vorace, e che non abbiamo un tempo infinito per accumulare piacere sulla terra, e che presto o tardi si tornerà ad esser cenere (che dà il nome a questo speciale mercoledì) per cui vale la pena di pensare a chi aspetta le nostre scuse, un nostro sorriso, o un'attenzione che non abbiamo mai concesso. E imparare - come recita un antico libro, il Qoelet - che c'è un tempo giusto per ogni cosa, e vivere bene il tempo del digiuno, porta a godere il tempo della festa. E se viviamo bene il tempo presente, arriveremo pronti al nostro tempo per morire. Altrimenti tutta la nostra vita è inutile. Page 11 St. Athanasius Church February 15, 2015 VI DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO Tomado de la Palabra entre nosotros: La compasión de Cristo hacia los enfermos y sus numerosas curaciones de dolientes de toda clase son un signo maravilloso de que Dios ha visitado a su pueblo y de que el Reino de Dios esta muy cerca. Jesús no tiene solamente poder de curar , sino tambien de perdonar los pecados. Su compasión hacia todos los que sufren llega hasta identificarse con ellos . Su amor de predilección para con los enfermos no ha cesado, a lo largo de los siglos , de suscitar la atención de los cristianos hacia todos los que sufren en su cuerpo y alma. Sin embargo los Milagros de Jesús apuntaban a una revelación mas profunda : La de que el Mesias libraría al mundo del pecado mediante su muerte en la cruz . Recordemos que Jesús le pidio al leproso guardar silencio despues de haber sido curado , pero por no haber obedecido el leproso sin guardar silencio causo controversia alterando el ministerio de Jesús hasta el final . Sin embargo Jesús sabia que su ministerio causaria conflicto y eso era Inevitable. Sigamos pues a nuestro Salvador que en todo obedece a su Padre celestial con amor y fidelidad. No escojamos nosotros que obedecer y que pasar por alto; mas bien entreguemonos a Cristo de todo Corazón , y así podremos experimentar la delicia y la bendición de una unión mas profunda con nuestro amado Salvador y Redentor . The Society is dedicated to the Blessed Mother, the growth of the love of God through Mary. We honor the Blessed Mother by the constant and reverent praying of the rosary in our daily life. Spiritual activities include an Annual Retreat, Annual Communion Breakfast and Baby Shower for Unwed Mothers. The Society raises money to help our Church continue outreach efforts. The St. Athanasius Respect Life Ministry Community Outreach Program Where there is despair, let us bring hope. Volunteers are needed to serve food to the poor and the homeless on Saturday Mornings. All announcements must be submitted in WRITTEN form only (handwritten, typed, computer, fax, e-mailed, etc) by 3p.m. Friday.
