PASTORAL CARE Please don’t forget to inform us if you
are going to be hospitalized so one of our priests can
visit. Provide us with your name, hospital, room number,
phone number and, when possible, how long you will be
hospitalized. If you are unable to attend Mass, due to
poor health, illness or advanced age, please call so a
Eucharistic Minister can bring Communion to you.
Anointing of the Sick may be requested because of
scheduled surgery or treatment for a life-threatening illness. Call us prior to your surgery or treatment. Anointing
of the Sick at Mass may be celebrated before you go into
the hospital. Directly inform one of our priests or call one
of our Pastoral Administrators.

Riflessione del mese di gennaio
PREGHIERA PER LA FAMIGLIA
Che nessuna famiglia cominci per caso che nessuna famiglia
finisca per mancanza d'amore che gli sposi siano l'uno per
l'altra, con il corpo e con la mente e che nessuno al mondo
separi una coppia che sogna.
Che nessuna famiglia si ripari sotto i ponti, che nessuno si
intrometta nella vita degli sposi e nel loro focolare, che nessuno
li obblighi a vivere senza orrizzonti, e che vivano del passato,
nel presente in funzione del futuro.
Che la famiglia cominci e finisca seguendo la sua strada
e che l'uomo porti sulle spalle la grazia di essere padre;
che la sposa sia in un cielo di tenerezza, di accoglienza e di
calore, e che i figli conoscano la forza dell'amore.
Che il marito e la moglie abbiano la forza di amare senza
misura e che nessuno si addormenti senza aver chiesto
perdono e senza averlo dato, che i bambini appendano al collo
il senso della vita, e che la famiglia celebri la condivisione
dell'abbraccio del pane.
Che il marito e la moglie non si tradiscano e non tradiscano i
figli che la gelosia non uccida la certezza dell'amore reciproco,
che nel firmamento la stella più luminosa sia la speranza di un

Gesu’ appena entrati in casa. La porta della nostra casa e’ la
nostra sacra entrata. Vi incoraggiamo a benedire tutti quelli che
entrano e escono dalla vostra casa scrivendo sulla porta
20+G+M+B+11. La tradizione ci dice che le lettere sono le
iniziali dei Magi: Gaspare, Melchiorre e Baldassare. Questo
puo’ anche significare “Christus mansionen benedicat” cioe’
che Cristo benedice questa casa. Gennaio e’ il primo mese
dell’anno, ossia la porta d’entrata al nuovo anno. Benedite la
vostra porta con acqua benedetta mentre recitate una
preghiera.

EPIFANIA DEL SEÑOR
2 DE ENERO DE 2011
“Hemos visto la estrella de oriente y venimos a adorar al Señor”
Continuamos con esta celebración de Navidad, hoy con
la Epifanía, reconocemos mediante la adoración; la potestad y
el reinado de Cristo.
Aquellos sabios de oriente conocidos como los reyes magos, eran posiblemente astronomos que andaban en la busqueda del origen y el sentido de la vida humana , y la encontraron . Al emprender el arduo viaje , llegaron al lugar donde se encontraba la verdad encarnada. Así mismo hoy dia , mas de 2000 años despues continuan muchos en
la busqueda; diferentes razas y culturas siguen esperando o intentando encontrar
aun, el sentido de la vida a traves de Dios. Es allí, en este humilde establo donde todo
el sentido se centra. Es allí mismo donde la esperanza de nuestra Salvación nació, y
allí mismo donde la Gloria de Dios se hizo carne, para vivir entre y como uno de
nosotros.
Que la estrella illumine y guie el camino, que sepamos reconocer el brillo de esta
estrella entre todas las demas que iluminan el firmamento de nuestro ser, y al llegar a
los pies del niño Jesus, nuestro Señor, alabemos y glorifiquemos la obra, la misericordia y el amor de Dios.

Salesians of Don Bosco, space is very limited and you must let us
know of interest as soon as possible. There may be some additional
requirements for acceptance. But this retreat will help develop spiritual and practical tools for youth that wish to lead with their faith.
Cost is $150 but some scholarship money may be available to offset
the cost!
Winter Retreat Night - Feb. 23rd St. Frances Cabrini
This will be an evening retreat for 6 hours, during the winter recess
break.
Lenten Retreat - March 12-13 St. Frances Cabrini
24 Hour retreat. Prepare with other youth, open to those in junior
and high school as we explore Lent through activities, prayer and
building community.
End of the Year Retreat - May 13-14 St. Simon &Jude
14 Hour Retreat has you look at where you are and where you want
to go. Through activities and small group discussions take some
time to see what road you are walking on!

Youth Ministry Corner
Cluster Youth Ministry at St. Simon and Jude
Youth Center - every first & third Friday of the
month from 7-9 p.m. in the gym. Join us for basketball, frisbee and the game room, plus a
chance to do service, build community and learn
more about God.
Faith Formation - every second and fourth
Wednesday of month from 7-9 p.m. in the Rectory basement. Join us for networking and connecting with friends and new kids. A place where
we have discussions, activities that help us grow
in our faith and learn more about ourselves, others and God.
Drama Group, Passion Players - meets every
second and fourth Monday from 7-9 p.m. on the
stage in the gym. Join us for acting skills and
improve exercises. This group does perform
short plays, skits throughout the year.
Youth Ministry at St. Frances Cabrini
Youth Center every Tuesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Join us for a safe place to hang out, special activity. Cost $1.00 each week. High School Leadership - SOUL Patrol - every first and third
Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Learn more about being a leader and also be given the opportunities
to develop these skills.
Spring/Summer Retreat - June 8th St. Frances Cabrini
A final three hour retreat night for all youth as they look back and
look ahead, as spring turns into summer.
There will also be several summer opportunities for
retreats and service programs.
Unless stated all programs take place in Brooklyn, NY. Costs are
$10 for 14 hour retreats and $20 for 24 hour retreats. 3 hour retreats
or evening retreats cost the typical $1.00 as the youth center.

Charismatic Prayer Group
Meets every Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the
Lower Church.
The St. A’s Scouting Program meets every Wednesday night in the school auditorium at 7:00 p. m. All
boys ages 7-18. Boys and Girls 14-21 can join the
Venturing Crew. Come and learn skills that will last a
lifetime.
Community Outreach Program
Where there is despair, let us bring hope. Volunteers
are needed to serve food to the poor and the homeless on Saturday Mornings. For more information,

families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with the problem drinking of a relative or
friend. Our Al-Anon Group meets in the Nazareth

Parish Calendar & Room Request Form. The form is available in the rectory or can be downloaded from our website. We
even have an E-form so you complete this form without writing. Just e-mail it back to us, or print it out and drop it off. All
Requests must be made using our form. E-mail completed form to AnnaMarie Scuteri at [email protected].
This is the ONLY way to reserve a room here at St. A's. The group listed on the parish calendar is the group that has
the right to use that space. If you are not a designated ministry of our parish, permission must be granted from our
Pastor, Msgr. Cassato, a rental fee is paid, and a lease agreement completed in order to use space.
Sunday Bulletin Deadlines The Sunday Bulletin must be e-mailed to our printer by 1p.m. Monday. All announcements
must be submitted in WRITTEN form only (handwritten, typed, computer, fax, e-mailed, etc) by 10a.m. Monday. Announcements received after the deadline will be published the following week. No one on the parish staff will assume the responsibility for your ministry’s articles. Include your bulletin articles in your advance planning for your event. All Flyers need to be
approved by a staff member and submitted by Email only to [email protected].
