Enrico Vigoni used typical ingredients Potato flour Sugar Butter Eggs Baking powder Lemon peel A NAME A, LEGEND According to a legend, a noblewoman from Pavia tasted it first and immediately said: “It’s a Paradise!” and so the name of the cake, Torta Paradiso (Paradise cake) was born. The pastry shop in Strada Nuova (Pavia city centre) The ancient pastry shop is opposite the University in Strada Nuova, one of the most important street in the heart of Pavia. The shop still has the original wooden decorations and the Liberty floors. A prizewinning cake Our Torta Paradiso got the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Milan in 1901 and 1906 and another prize at Flavors’Expo in 2003 th 20 On February 2014 some students of our school went to Vigoni, an ancient pastry shop in the centre of Pavia, to attend a lesson of history and traditions in this special place.
