COSE DA FARE E DA RICORDARE
1. Domenica prossima, Domenica delle Palme, siamo
invitati a riportare le piccole box-salvadanaio in aiuto
del movimento Development & Peace con i votri piccoli
“fioretti”.
2. Pittura della Chiesa. Lunedì 16 Aprile, cominceremo e
ripitturare l’interno della chiesa. Perciò fino a
completamento dei lavori, per la celebrazione
eucaristica useremo la sala parrocchiale.
Conseguentemente in quei giorni il gioco delle carte e
del Bingo saranno soppressi.
Per chi volesse contribuire alle spese del suddetto lavoro
sono pronte delle buste con l’indicazione e aggiunta del
numero. Tale cifra sarà accreditata alla fine dell’anno
assieme alle vostre donazioni.
3. Pellegrinaggio a Sant’Anna. E’ tempo di pensare e
registrarsi.Ma per diversi motivi di organizazione e
finanziario, è necessario dare una caparra di $50.00 che
non sarà restituita se non in caso di “morte”.
Cominciamo con la prenotazione di un pulman e se sarà
necessario, si passerà ad un secondo. Il termine ultimo
per registrarsi sarà la fine di Giugno.
Quest’anno si prevede qualche cambiamento libero per
la giornata di Domenica.
4. Per i fumatori. Come ben sapete, in città c’è una nuova
regolazione per le aree disponibili per i fumatori. Anche
per la nostra chiesa dovremo adeguarci! Perciò si decide
che sulle scale davanti la chiesa e dentro la rampa dietro
la chiesa saranno due luoghi in cui non è possibile
fumare. Non è più possibile tollerare che sulle scale
della chiesa, specialmente dopo le messe di memoria ci
sia un “cimitero” di cicche.
5. Nello stesso tempo credo che sia maturo togliere la
cattiva abitudine, in chiesa e durante le celebrazioni,
vedere gente che continua a “ruminare” gomme nella
propria bocca e venire a ricevere con la stessa la
Comunione. Perciò chi è abituato a “ruminare” è
invitato cordialmente a rimuovere la gomma dalla bocca
prima di accomodarsi nel banco. E’ ridicolo e di cattiva
educazione “appiccicarla” sotto il banco o lasciarla nel
posto del libretto.
6. Oggi si usano molto di più i fazzolettini di carta per le
proprie necessità: non credo che sia una cosa pulita
lasciarla dove si mettono i libri del canto o lasciarla
cadere per terra.
7. E’ evidente che tutto questo vale per i cellulari: prima di
entrare si è invitati a spegnerli!
DAL VANGELO Gv 12, 20-33
«Vogliamo vedere Gesù!».
L'attesa di ogni cristiano può essere sintetizzata nel
desiderio di “vedere Gesù”.
Che significa? L'esperienza della fede non assicura una vita
di successi e gratificazioni, poiché seguire lui significa
accettare di confrontarsi con l'esperienza della croce. Croce
può essere per noi l'impegno quotidiano di una testimonianza seria e coerente, può essere il servizio disinteressato
al prossimo, può essere la sofferenza portata con dignità e
speranza. Il chicco di grano, se non muore, non diventa
spiga.
La richiesta espressa con tanta speranza dal gruppo dei
Greci è figura di un'aspirazione che resta per i secoli futuri.
La figura di Gesù domina l'orizzonte della storia ed esercita
un fascino indiscutibile. Anche chi vorrebbe cancellarne la
memoria, ne confessa implicitamente la grandezza.
Ma il mistero di Gesù sfugge a chi vuole accostarlo
mosso solamente da curiosità, da interesse.
Per l’evangelista Giovanni “vedere Gesù” indica lo
sguardo della fede e l'apertura del cuore: condizioni
indispensabili per cogliere l'identità di Gesù ed entrare in
comunione con lui. Con una metafora Gesù spiega il
contenuto e il significato dell'ora che ormai incombe sulla
sua vita: “come il chicco di grano” egli deve morire
perché tutti abbiano la possibilità di entrare in comunione
di vita con il Padre.
È la logica che permea l'esistenza cristiana: incontrare
Gesù implica seguirlo in una scelta di vita che si fa dono
per gli altri.
C'è chi pensa che la fede sia una garanzia, una specie di
polizza di assicurazione contro gli infortuni della vita, una
dottrina che insegna a “comportarsi bene” e a non far male
a nessuno.
Gesù presenta un quadro radicalmente diverso e una legge
molto più esigente: essere cristiani implica seguire Gesù..
Che significano, infatti, quelle parole paradossali: “Chi
ama la sua vita la perde, e chi odia la sua vita in questo
mondo la conserverà per la vita eterna”? Chi si aggrappa
al proprio egoismo e alle illusioni umane (potere, successo,
sensualità...), conoscerà un'esistenza sterile, chiusa. Chi,
invece, sa dimenticare sé stesso e offrire con amore la
propria vita, se la ritroverà in pienezza. Il valore di una
persona è legato a ciò che dona.
Se ieri (duemila anni fà) era Filippo che portava a Cristo e
questi al Padre, oggi la missione di indicare agli uomini di
buona volontà il volto di Cristo tocca alla Comunità dei
redenti e credenti. Tocca a noi che, amando e credendo,
cresciamo nell'amore di Dio e del prossimo, indicare dove
Cristo è realmente presente: anzitutto tra noi e in noi, nella
misura in cui ci amiamo e viviamo nell'amore.
Ma gli increduli, incontrandoci, vedono in noi la
testimonianza dell'amore?
“Vogliamo vedere Gesù! ”: è il grido che continua finché
l'umanità è in cerca.
La partecipazione all'Eucaristia è comunione al corpo e
sangue del Cristo, è inserimento sempre più profondo in
lui; il desiderio di “vedere il Signore” diventi, anche per
noi come i primi discepoli, intima e gioiosa esperienza che
ci fa esclamare: “Abbiamo visto il Signore! ” (Gv 20,25).

MOTHER’S DAY 2012
Diversamente a quanto deciso e scritto nel
programma, il gruppo che lavora in cucina, dietro
forti richieste, è disponibile a lavorare per la cenadanza in occasione della Festa della Mamma (12
Maggio).
Dobbiamo dare atto della loro grande disponibilità.
Perciò il 12 Maggio, alle stesse condizioni di sempre
avremo la possibilità di trascorrere in allegria e
amichevolmente questa celebrazione.
Ricordo che il giorno dopo, 13 Maggio, alle ore
15:00, presso il Cimitero Capital Memorial Gardens
avremo la Celebrazione dell’Eucaristia.
FESTA ANNUALE DELLA MADONNA 2012
Other than what has been written on the program,
the group that works in the kitchen have strongly
requested and is available to work for the dinner
dance for Mother’s day (May 12).
We must praise them for their great availability.

in a friendly atmosphere this celebration.

FROM THE GOSPEL John 12, 20-33
"We want to see Jesus".
The expectation of every Christian can be summed up in
the desire to "see Jesus”.
What does that mean? The experience of faith does not
ensure a life of success and gratification, since following
him means accepting to confront the experience of the
cross. A cross may be for us the daily work of a serious and
consistent testimony, it may be the selfless service to
others, and it may be the pain carried with dignity and
hope. The grain of wheat, if it dies, it produces much fruit.
The request made with great hope by the group of the
Greeks is a figure that remains an aspiration for future
centuries. The figure of Jesus dominates the horizon of
history and has an undeniable charm. Even those who
would like to erase the memory, implicitly confess the
greatness.
But the mystery of Jesus escapes those who want to
approach it only moved by curiosity, self-interest.
For John the Evangelist to "see Jesus" indicates the eyes
of faith and openness of heart: conditions essential for
understanding the identity of Jesus and enter into
communion with him. With a metaphor Jesus explains the
content and meaning of the hour, which now hangs over his
life: "Like the grain of wheat" he must die so that
everyone has the opportunity to enter into communion of
life with the Father.
It is the logic that permeates Christian life: meeting Jesus
implies following a choice of a lifestyle that becomes a gift
for others.
Some people think that faith is a guarantee, a kind of
insurance policy against accidents of life, a doctrine that
teaches how to "behave well" and not hurt anyone.
Jesus presents a radically different and far more demanding
law: being a Christian means to follow Jesus. What do
these paradoxical words, in fact, mean: "Whoever loves his
life loses it and whoever hates his life in this world will
keep it for eternal life"? Whoever clings to his own
selfishness and human illusions (power, success, sensuality
...) will have a sterile, closed life. But whoever knows how
to forget himself and offer his own life with love, will find
it in its fullness. The value of a person is tied to what he or
she gives.
If yesterday (two thousand years ago) Philip was led to
Christ and the Father, now the mission of showing people
of good will the face of Christ it is up to the community of
believers and redeemers. It's up to us, by loving and
believing, we grow in love of God and neighbor, indicating
where Christ is really present: first of all among us and in
us , to the extent that we love and live in love.
But the unbelievers, when they meet us, see in us the
testimony of love?
"We want to see Jesus!" is the cry that continues until
humanity is still seeking.
Participation in the Eucharist is a communion with the
body and blood of Christ, it is incorporated deeper in him;
the desire to "see the Lord" becomes, even for us as the
early disciples, an intimate and joyful experience that
makes us shout out: " We have seen the Lord! " (John
20:25).
THINGS TO DO AND TO REMEMBER
1. Next Sunday, Palm Sunday we are invited to return the small donation boxes to help the Development &
Peace with your small act of reparation.
2. Painting of the Church. Monday April 16, we will begin painting the interior of the church. Consequently,
up to completion of the jobs, the Eucharistic celebration will take place in the parish hall. The Bingo and
card games will be suppressed until the work has completed. For those who wish to contribute to the above
mentioned work, envelopes are available on which can add your coordinates and number. Your donation
will be accredited at the end of the year along with your donations.
3. Pilgrimage to St. Anne. It’s time to thing about signing up. For financial and organizational reasons, it is
necessary to give a non refundable $50.00 deposit. Deposits can be refundable only in case of death. We
will begin by reserving one bus and if necessary we will move onto a second bus. Registration deadline will
be the end of June. This year we foresee some changes to the option for the Sunday
4. For the smokers. The city has new regulations for smoking areas and this valid also for our church.
Therefore there will be no smoking on the front steps of the church and also inside the ramp at the back of
the church especially after the memorial masses where there is a cemetery of cigarette butts.
5. At the same time I would like to ask that it would be mature to remove the bad habit of chewing gum during
the celebrations especially when receiving communion with the same mouth. You are cordially invited to
dispose of the gum prior to accommodating yourself in the pew. It is ridiculous and of bad manners to stick
the gum under the bench or in the place of the books.
6. Today we use tissues more and more: I don’t think that it’s sanitary to leave them in the place of the song
books or to leave them on the floor.
7. And evidently this is also valid for the cellular phones: before entering the church please turn them off.
