Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele - Facoltà di Filosofia Palazzo Arese Borromeo - Cesano Maderno (Milano) September 28-30 - 2006 VII National Conference of the Italian Society for Analytic Philosophy BRAIN PERSONS ans SOCIETY Brains, Persons, and Society According to contemporary developments of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, we should consider human nature and identity as the result of the complex interaction of biological and social factors. In this connection, the traditional distinction between nature and culture loses its plausibility, and it is replaced by a more dynamic view of the relation between, on the one hand, the physical and material component of human persons, from the other, their social and spiritual characteristics. Particular attention will be devoted to the contribution that Brain and Cognitive Sciences can offer to philosophical understanding of crucial issues such as the nature and identity of human beings; the cognitive basis of social reality; the contribution of social and cultural environment to the development of our cognitive abilities, and to the genesis and role of human subjectivity. information: http://sifa.unige.it/milano06 INVITED SPEAKERS Carla Bagnoli (University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee), David Chalmers (Australian National University), Maria Carla Galavotti (Università di Bologna), Jennifer Hornsby (Birkbeck College, Londra), Christopher Hughes (King's College, Londra), Jonathan Lowe (Durham University), Thomas Metzinger (Universität Mainz), Andrea Moro (Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milano), Stefano Predelli (Nottingham University), François Recanati (Institut Jean Nicod, CNRS, Parigi), Giacomo Rizzolatti (Università di Parma), Dan Sperber (Institut Jean Nicod, CNRS, Parigi).
