How to use the Kit
The OMNIA Vatican & Rome Kit contains several items:

OMNIA Card
Show the OMNIA card to:
1. Visit the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel*.
2. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica*.
*IMPORTANT! For visits a. and b. you cannot access these sites directly by showing your card at the entrance. To visit these sites, you must:
> go to the ORP offices at St. Peter’s (Piazza Pio XII, 9) 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time of the visit. The staff of Roma
Cristiana will give you the information necessary to enter and
will accompany you to the entrance of the site;
> dress appropriately, with shoulders and knees covered;
> bring with you a valid identity document;
3. Visit the Basilica of St. John in the Lateran and
cloister with a multimedia audio guide;
4. Visit the prison of St. Peter (Mamertine) with the
multimedia route;
5. Take advantage of the RomaCristiana Open Bus
for 3 days with the Hop-on Hop-off system.

Esibisci la tessera OMNIA per:
1. Visitare i Musei Vaticani e la Cappella Sistina*.

*IMPORTANTE Per le visite 1. e 2. non è possibile accedere a questi
siti esibendo direttamente la tessera all’ingresso. Per effettuare le
visite è necessario:
> presentarsi presso gli uffici ORP di San Pietro (Piazza Pio XII, 9) 15 minuti prima dell’orario della visita. Lo staff di Roma Cristiana ti darà le
informazioni utili all’accesso e ti accompagnerà all’ingresso del sito;
> vestirsi adeguatamente, con spalle e ginocchia coperte;
> portare con sé un documento valido d’identità;
3. Visitare la Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano e il
Chiostro con l’audio guida.

HOW TO USE THE OMNIA
AND ROMA PASSES
1. The back of the cards are to be filled out with first
and last name and date of activation;
2. They are valid for three days from the date of activation for entrance to museums/sites and/or from
their activation for the first validation on public
transport and RomaCristiana Open Buses.
3. The Roma Pass is valid for 3 consecutive days and
until 12:00 a.m. (midnight) of the third day, including
the day of activation.
4. The OMNIA is valid for 72 consecutive hours, including the day of activation.
5. With the OMNIA card one must go to the St.
Peter’s O.R.P. - Roma Cristiana Meeting Point (Piazza Pio XII, 9) in order to make the visits to the
Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel and to St.
Peter’s Basilica 15 minutes before the visit.
6. With the Roma Pass one enters directly through
the entrance for the first 2 sites, while from the
3rd site onwards one must go to the ticket office
in order to take advantage of the discount (to find
out prices and the discounts granted, you can visit
www.romapass.it or go to a TIP).
7. The cards should be shown at the request of the
control personnel, together with a valid ID.
Modalità d’uso
delle tessere
1. Le tessere si compilano sul retro con nome, cognome e data di attivazione;
2. Valgono tre giorni dalla data di attivazione per
l’accesso ai musei/siti e/o da quello della prima convalida sui mezzi di trasporto pubblico e Open Bus
RomaCristiana.
3. La Roma Pass vale 3 giorni consecutivi e fino alle
ore 24.00 del terzo giorno, compreso il giorno di attivazione.
4. La OMNIA vale 72 ore consecutive, compreso il
giorno di attivazione.
5. Con la tessera OMNIA è necessario presentarsi
al Meeting Point ORP - RomaCristiana di San Pietro
(Piazza Pio XII,9) per poter effettuare le visite a Musei
Vaticani e Cappella Sistina e alla Basilica di San Pietro
15 minuti prima della visita.
6. Con la Roma Pass si accede direttamente all’ingresso dei primi 2 siti, mentre dal 3° sito in poi si presenta in biglietteria per usufruire della riduzione (per
conoscere i prezzi e gli sconti riconosciuti, puoi visitare il sito www.romapass.it o recarti presso un PIT).
7. Le tessere si esibiscono su richiesta del personale di controllo, insieme ad un documento di identità
valido.

Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano
The Archbasilica of the Most Holy Saviour and St. John the Baptist and
the Evangelist at the Lateran, better known as St. John in Lateran, is
the “mother and head of all the churches” and is the oldest basilica in
Western Europe. As the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome it is the official
ecclesiastical seat of the Holy Father as Bishop of Rome. Once inside the
basilica you can observe how, throughout the ages, the faith has shaped
the entire architectural structure of the building. Located between the
basilica and St. John’s Square lies the Cloister, an oasis for meditative
prayer. There are masterpieces of Cosmatesque art that include architectural elements, sculpture and ornaments belonging to the ancient
basilica.
L’Arcibasilica del SS.mo Salvatore e dei Santi Giovanni Battista ed Evangelista, meglio conosciuta come San Giovanni in Laterano, è “Madre e
capo di tutte le chiese di Roma e del mondo” ed è la Basilica più antica
d’Occidente. Cattedrale della diocesi di Roma, è la sede ecclesiastica ufficiale del S. Padre per l’esercizio di vescovo di Roma. Coloro che la visitano
hanno modo di approfondire quanto la fede ne abbia plasmato l’intera

The Tullianum – the original name of the oldest prison in Rome - is
the place where according to tradition, the Apostles Peter and Paul
lived their last days before their martyrdom. It was a maximum security prison for enemies of Rome awaiting execution. Situated at the
foot of the Capitol Hill and in front of the Roman Forum, it was a clear
symbol of the implacable justice of Rome. For this reason Peter and
Paul, major figures of the Christian community, were brought to this
prison. The site, preserved over the centuries by Christian piety, no
longer strikes fear into those who visit, transmitting instead a sense
of profound peace.
Il Tullianum, questo il nome originale del più antico carcere di Roma, è il
luogo dove secondo la tradizione gli Apostoli Pietro e Paolo vissero i loro
ultimi giorni prima del martirio. Si trattava di una prigione di massima
sicurezza per i nemici di Roma in attesa di esecuzione. Posto ai piedi del
Campidoglio e davanti al Foro, era un chiaro simbolo dell’implacabile
giustizia di Roma. Per questo Pietro e Paolo, figure importanti delle comunità cristiane, furono portati in questo carcere. Il luogo preservato
nei secoli dalla pietà cristiana oggi non irradia più timore, ma una pace
profonda.

The valley of the Forum, nestled between the seven hills of Rome, was
in ancient times a marsh. Starting in the end of the seventh century
B.C., after the improvement and drainage of the marshes, the Roman
Forum was constructed and served as the centre of public life in Rome
for over a thousand years.

Opened in 1912, the Montemartini Plant completely changed the water
and power supply system of Rome. Today, the site is home to an art centre where Greek and Roman statues and sculptures are on display among
the remains of the old engines of the plant, which is no longer in use.

The most ancient public museum in the world; it houses a considerable
quantity of archaeological examples in addition to a significant collection of mediaeval and modern works. Recently, a large glass-walled
room was built out of the covering of the Roman Garden to exhibit the
original of the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, previously located
in Piazza del Campidoglio.

è la grande aula vetrata ricavata dalla copertura del Giardino Romano,
dedicata alla definitiva sistemazione della statua equestre in bronzo di

L’Aranciera, trasformata in museo dopo un impegnativo restauro,

italo-americano e collezionista di fama internazionale, costituita
da dipinti, sculture e disegni, tra cui un consistente nucleo di opera

Located inside the former “Porta Appia”, known today as “Porta S.
Sebastiano”, the Museo delle Mura is the best preserved of the gates
of the city walls which the emperor Aurelian had built at the end
of the 3rd century AD, and illustrates the history of these ancient
fortifications.

Originally intended as a mausoleum by the Emperor Hadrian (130139 AD), Castel Sant’Angelo became, in later centuries, the bastion of
the Papal State. The museum houses the collections of antique weapons and documents testifying to the castle’s history. It is now possible
to visit all areas of the castle, from the prison to the Papal apartments,
to the numerous richly decorated rooms.
Mausoleo voluto dall’imperatore Adriano tra il 130 e il 139 d.C, è divenuto in seguito uno dei simboli del potere papale. Il Museo ospita
le collezioni di armi e documenti inerenti la storia del castello. Sono
visitabili tutti gli ambienti, dalla prigione agli appartamenti del Papa
a tutte le numerose sale ricche di decorazioni.

The excavations carried out in the Balbi Crypt revealed the various transformations and uses of the place which followed one after another from
ancient times through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance up to the

The National Museum of Musical Instruments gathers unique examples
of musical instruments belonging to the ancient world till the 18th
century, including the well-known “Barberini harp”, some instruments
which belonged to Benedetto Marcello and the pianoforte invented and
built by Bartolomeo Cristofori.

dall’antichità a tutto il secolo XVIII. Conserva la celebre “arpa Barberini”,

A former hen house dating from the 17th century, in 1927 this building became the house of the sculptor Pietro Canonica, who in return
undertook to donate his works to the city of Rome. Opened in 1961,
the Museo Pietro Canonica displays studies, drawings, mock-ups,
originals and replicas.
Antico gallinaro seicentesco, nel 1927 l’edificio fu concesso in uso allo
scultore Pietro Canonica che s’impegnò in cambio a donare alla città
le sue opere. Il Museo Canonica, inaugurato nel 1961, conserva studi,

Located in Palazzo Braschi, the Museum of Rome houses a great variety of works of art recalling the history of Rome from the Middles Ages
to the twentieth century: furniture, carriages, architectural and urban

for drapery, clothes and tapestries.
Il Museo di Roma, che ha sede a Palazzo Braschi, ospita una grande
varietà di opere legate alla storia della città, dal Medioevo alla prima
metà del Novecento: mobili, carrozze, elementi di arredo architettonico

Housed in the “Farnesina ai Baullari” (the Farnese Palace in the street
of the trunk makers), which was built in 1516 to a design of Antonio
da Sangallo the young, the Museo Barracco houses a prestigious collection of antique sculpture – art from Assyria, Egypt, Cyprus, Phoenicia, Etruria, Greece and Rome.

Considered among the most important in the world, the Vatican Museums are a must for anyone who comes to Rome. Since the seventeenth

with a tour of the Raphael Rooms and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel

Situated in Villa Torlonia Park, the Museo della Casina delle Civette has
among its distinctive features the stained-glass elements, made between 1910 and 1925 by Cesare Picchiarini along the lines of the beautiful drawings from Duilio Cambellotti, Umberto Bottazzi and Paolo
Paschetto, thus testifying to the high quality reached by the stainedglass art in Rome.
La Casina delle Civette è sede del museo dedicato alla vetrata artistica.
Le vetrate, realizzate tra il 1910 e il 1925 da Cesare Picchiarini su disegni
di Duilio Cambellotti, Umberto Bottazzi e Paolo Paschetto offrono un

Located in the Villa, which was the home of the Torlonia family first
and Benito Mussolini afterwards (from 1925 to 1943), this restored
building hosts the Museo della Villa, featuring period sculptures and
furnishings, and the Museo della Scuola Romana, well-known for the
paintings and drawings of the artists belonging to that school. In the
adjoining House of the Princes one can consult the Archives of the
Roman School.
Situato nella Villa che fu residenza della famiglia Torlonia e, dal 1925
al 1943, di Benito Mussolini, l’edificio restaurato ospita il Museo della
Villa, con sculture e arredi d’epoca, e il Museo della Scuola Romana,

The archaeological complex, which extends between the second and
third mile of the Appian Way, consists of three principal constructions:
the Palace, the Roman Circus and the Dynastic Mausoleum. All were
designed as an interlinked architectural unit to celebrate the Emperor
Maxentius, the vanquished adversary of Constantine the Great at the
battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 A.D.

to all the sites?
Once you activate the card, through the first validation, you have free admission with dedicated entrance to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel;
St. Peter’s Basilica with audio guide; to the Basilica of
St. John in Lateran and cloister with a multimedia audio guide; to the Prison of St. Peter with multimedia
tour and audio guide; free entrance to 2 museums
or archaeological sites of the city of Rome to be
chosen from more than 40 offered and listed in
this guide; discount starting from the 3rd entry to
the rest of the museums of the city of Rome among
those listed in this guide with the title in red, in the
section “OMNIA Sites and museums” and free and
unrestricted access for 3 consecutive days to urban
public transport, bus and metro, and to RomaCristiana Open Bus.

OMNIA Vatican & Rome allows you to take advantage of an integrated package of services, valid for

Guide; ricevere uno sconto a partire dal 3° accesso
nel resto dei musei della città di Roma tra quelli
elencati in questo opuscolo con il titolo in rosso,
nella sezione “Siti e musei OMNIA” e accedere gratuitamente per 3 giorni consecutivi ai mezzi di trasporto pubblico urbano, autobus e metro e all’Open

3. Come utilizzo le 2 tessere?
Le tessere si compilano sul retro con nome, cognome e data di attivazione. Esibisci la tessera OMNIA
per visitare i Musei Vaticani e la Cappella Sistina*;
