The Foundation is named in honour of Paolo Grassi, who founded the Piccolo Teatro of Milan, and was the superintendant of the Teatro alla Scala and the chairman of RAI. The Foundation was set in 1994 as no-‐profit body and supports, develops and spreads the theatre and musical culture. The Foundation keeps supporting, every year, the Festival of Valle d’Itria production, a well known International festival that discovers and performs unpublished or rare operas, also preparing the audience to attend to the performances. Among the activities of the Foundation a very special place is taken by educational activities and development of conscious approach to the performing arts. The Foundation, which owns a library of more than 25.000 items on the topic of music and theatres (books, dvd, cds, vynils), is very active in the field of lifelong education for music and theatre and develops programmes as “Bambini… all’Opera!” dedicated to a new approach of the young people to the classical music and opera, “Accademia dello Spettatore”, whose aims are to motivate the research, promoting plans and grants related to the cultural, artistic, historical, natural heritage, to support the young talents; to emphasise the meaning of the theatre and musical sector. 4 MOTIVATION TO HOST A GRUNDTVIG ASSISTANT Please give your reasons on why you would like to host an assistant Many of the activities of the Foundation are based on an international context. Among these activities, the Foundation organises the International Masterclass for String Instruments with international teachers in cooperation with ESTA (European String Teachers Association) and the International Belcanto Academy “Rodolfo Celletti”. This requires the presence of an assistant that can fit into a context of international education. 5 GRUNDTVIG ASSISTANT PROFILE Please indicate your preferences regarding the profile of the Grundtvig Assistant (I.e. duration/dates of stay, experience, language, skills, fields of work, subject taught) The Grundtvig Assistant should be a person passionate about art and music, with experience in the field of communication and organisation of events, able to use the computer and to speak Italian and English (only by prior knowledge of other languages ). The Assistant should be a relevant person to meet and grow in an intercultural context. Fields of work: communication, teaching, music education, performing arts.
