ACTIVE LABOUR MARKET PROGRAMS provided by the Local Labour Offices in Poland WORK PRACTICE What is the aim of Work Practice? The aim of Work Practice is to help the unemployed in difficult situation on the labour market to get a work experience. What is the financing source of this instrument? Work Practices are financed from the Labour Fund (created from employers’ taxation) or the European Social Fund (in accordance with rules of ESF projects). 6-Ulotek_ang.indd 11 2010-10-26 12:29:33 How does the Work Practice work? Work Practice gives the unemployed a chance of gaining practical skills by performing tasks at the workplace without concluding an employment contract. A Work Practice is carried out on a basis of contract signed between the Local Labour Office (LLO) and the employer, who specifies the program and indicates the tutor. The program of the Work Practice can last up to 6 months, but up to 12 months for young people (up to 25 years old or 27 years old in the case of beneficiaries with tertiary education). A participant is entitled to a monthly scholarship equal to 120% of the unemployment benefit. After the completion of the program a graduate receives the following documents: 1) an opinion from the employer with information about tasks performed and skills acquired, 2) a confirmation from the Local Labour Office of participating in the program. Who is eligible to participate? Work Practice is available to the registered unemployed in difficult situation on the labour market, that is: – under 25 years of age or 27 years of age in case of completion of the education at the tertiary level, – over 50 years of age, – without vocational qualifications, – with no secondary education, – with no professional experience, – the persistently unemployed, – women who did not resume employment after having a child, – single parents of at least one child under 18, – after the execution of social contract, – who did not resume employment after imprisonment, – who are disabled.
