CENTRO EUROPEO DI STUDI ROSSETTIANI - CONVEGNO INTERNAZIONALE 2015
I ROSSETTI E DANTE: DANTIS AMOR
(Vasto, Palazzo D'Avalos, 19-20 novembre 2015)
Gli interessati a proporre una comunicazione sul tema del Convegno potranno inviarne via
mail il titolo, insieme con le proprie generalità e la propria posizione accademica, illustrando la
proposta con un abstract allegato e salvato con il proprio cognome (max.300 parole) in italiano e in
inglese al dott. Mirko Menna - [email protected] - entro e non oltre il 31 luglio 2015.
La durata delle comunicazioni non supererà 20 minuti e 10 minuti per la discussione. L’accettazione
ovvero l’esclusione delle proposte verrà comunicata tempestivamente:
- Dante e il Medio Evo nell’Arte Preraffaellita
- La Tradizione medievale nella Letteratura Inglese e Italiana del XIX e XX secolo
- Traduzione e traduttori dell’opera di Dante nella Letteratura Contemporanea.
Seguirà il calendario dei lavori, che verrà reso disponibile nel sito del Centro Europeo di Studi
Rossettiani (http://www.centrorossetti.eu).

On the occasion of the 750th anniversary of Dante’s birth CENTRO EUROPEO DI
STUDI ROSSETTIANI and D’ANNUNZIO UNIVERSITY with partners are organizing the
conference
I ROSSETTI E DANTE: DANTIS AMOR
(Vasto, Palazzo D'Avalos, 19-20 novembre 2015)
to take place at the Centro Europeo di Studi Rossettiani in Vasto and the Gabriele d’Annunzio University of
Chieti-Pescara
from November 19 to 20 2015
The 750th Dante's birth anniversary is the ideal opportunity to analyze the deep passion that the Rossetti family had for
Dante, exul immeritus and symbol of Italy, so cherished by the progenitor of the Rossettis, Gabriele, who was exiled
much like Dante. The Rossettis marked the history of Dante studies, spreading the word of the Florentine poet in the
world, with painting, poetry and criticism. Their personal, controversial and, sometimes, conflicting interpretations are
certainly noteworthy and very important for Italian culture in England. The Rossettis’ poetical works, translations and
critical essays are elements not to be ignored by any scholar desiring to study medieval poetry. The Rossetti visionary
interpretation of Dante’s works bears its fruits in a peculiar period rich in essays, interpretations and findings about
Dante, the poet who embodies the seer and the symbol of the Italian and European rebirth.
In the two principal sections of the conference – namely, literature and figurative arts – will be analyzed
the projection of the Dantean vision on the Rossetti family's reference point alongside the presence of
the supreme Poet, his works and his characters in the Rossetti literary and pictorial imagination.
In this way the already thriving field of study concerning Dante’s success between the 19th and the 20th
century will be enriched by new elements, and hopefully promote new research and publications that
will encompass themes and ideas also in the contemporary literature studies.
Some suggested topics:
- Medieval and Dante’s imagery and iconography in Preraphaelite Art
- Medieval tradition in Victorian Literature and Italian Literature XIX and XX centuries
- Traslation and Traslators of Dante’s works in contemporary Literature
Abstract deadline: July 31 2015
Conference languages: English, Italian
All papers (20 minutes for presentation plus 10 for discussion) will be presented in plenary
sessions. Abstracts (max 300 words), in English or Italian, should be e-mailed to dr. Mirko Menna
