Bilezikian, Aliya Khan and John T. Potts, Jr. Introduction Hypoparathyroidism is a hypocalcemic disorder characterized by insufficient or absent parathyroid hormone. Although a rare disorder of mineral metabolism, it nevertheless afflicts many thousands of individuals worldwide. Recent advances have been made in understanding the various etiologies of this disease as well as in its management and therapy. This conference will gather world leaders in this disease in an effort to discuss challenges that health care providers face as well as to recommend a blueprint for future research. A set of guidelines will be developed in order to facilitate the diagnosis, management, and therapy of this disorder. Faculty John P.
